How do these things work in this game?
I'm fairly new as well, but I'm getting grips on it. Basically its up to you to record what you have in your army depending on your economy and such. you can only have 5% of your population in the military and shouldn't really spend more than 15% of your money on it. You've got to be fair and not overdo everything for example, "I've got 1 million nukes". That is known as Godmoding. If you're under 1 month old you can't have any nukes, its not allowed. To work out how much money you have etc, Go here:

To buy things you go to threads and buy stuff off of people. It's a good idea to keep a note of the thread to prove you have say, 100 tanks from so and so.
As your nation grows obviously so does your power, thats why when small nations declare war everyone laughs at them
Just read threads and stuff, you'll get the hang of it.

Try reading the sticky called, "New to NationStates? View these great threads". You'll find it at the top of the first page of the NationStates forum. Most of what you need to know has already been answered there. If you have any questions afterward, feel free to ask the authors of the relevant posts for help.

Newer nations, go into the International Incidents forum and basically read the first post (if not more) of every sticky there.....(you can tell if its a sticky by the symbol next to the thread's name)
