Escape Velocity Nova (Open RP)
This roleplay is based on Ambrosia's Escape Velocity Nova (this is shareware that you can get at http://www.ev-nova.net/ and ship info is at http://www.evula.com/survival_guide/ if you need to check up on things). I expect this to be a long RP with space and land battles. Try to join on the sides of the Federation, Aurorans, Rebels, Pirates, Bounty Hunters, Wild Geese, or as a trader. Please don't start with a ship in excess of $500,000. Make this realistic. Don't be very heroic. Don't start with a fleet, though you may capture ships as the game goes on. For anyone that doesn't know anything about the game you don't need to really study it, just join in.
I am Chris Hairfield of the Class IV Rebel Valkyrie Trimurti. This ship was bought new off the production line two years ago for $475,000. My four person crew and I started off with a heavy shuttle, then a terrapin, as a United Shipping Courier. When we accumulated some money we found out about the Bereau and their goals. The Trimurti was bought because of the increase of pirate activity. We then, over time, joined the Rebellion and have been fighting for them ever since.

This is a great game. Im thinking of getting a Federation ship, probably a patrol boat. Im fine with the nation thing and if you need someone to do that I could for the Federation.
I don't know this game too well but ill be a pirate. What do you think would be a good ship for that?
You vcould go for the fighter, the Thunderhead, or the Valkyrie. The thunderhead is $425,000 and the Valk is $500,000. Chose whatever you prefer.
The Thunderhead, Valk, or upgraded Argosy would be fine ships. Unless you want to be a really fast but weak ship, then be the Viper.

Ship Description (NOT SHIPYARD DESCRIPTION): The Vellos Arrow is pilotable by T2, and some T3 telepaths. It's has 20 tons of weapons space and 60 tons of cargo space. Is not an ACTUAL ship, but rather, a protective energy shield that a vellos or T2 level human can put around himself. There is NO armor, one hit of any type past shields will kill, but the shields are rather strong. It is also a rather quick vessel, with fourteen hyperspace jumps available.
Telepathic Description Scale: Goes from T6 (Normal, everyday person), to T0 (Super Telepath). T5 can do some mind reading, pick up emotions (Rough equal of an empath), T4 can do full mind reading, T3 can move objects and make the smallest Vellos ship (Vellos Dart), T2 can create the second smallest Vellos ship (Vellos Arrow) and use many other features. T1 can do a lot more, make Vellows Javelin, even more mind control. There are no T0 telepaths in existance. Their ability is unknown.
Charactor Description: Matthew Dupree started out on any old shuttle. He stayed civilian for quite a long time, at first mining asteroids, and then doing special missions and normal missions. About three months into his career, he met a Vellos who asked Matt to find out what happened to the Vellos homeworld. After reporting back, Matt was sent to another planet to meet another telepath. But it was just a trap. The Bureau of Internal Investigation (of the Federation) arrested Matt. You see, all telepaths in the Federation must be registered by the Bureau, and have a small implant in the back of their head. This implant completly controlls their brain. While they can still think and act however they want, the Bureau has full control. If a Bureau agent gives an order, a person with this chip must follow.
For nearly nine months Matt has worked with the Bureau, forced by his chip. During that time, he has become a T2, and, as soon as he registers EV Nova, will become a T1. He has dealt horrific blows to the rebellion (he faked working for them for awhile and replaced a total of six agents), the Auroran Empire (he lead a task force into Auroran space and destroyed a space station, as well as took the home planet of the Moash, forcing the Moash to work with the Bureau), and has rooted out many Polarin spies. Hated by most (including the main Federation government), Matt pretty much has a death wish. However, he hopes that, once he becomes a T1, he can break free of his bonds, remove the chip, and begin acting on his own. At this point, Matt cannot be arrested. Any charges against him are dropped immediatly.
At any rate, Matt has the ability to dodge missiles, play with people minds, kill someone with a though (on ground), create himself ships, as well as many other things.
OOC: Oh my God! I'm soo sorry about the post length. It's just that this charactor is far in, and it's hard to describe him shortly. Again, I apologize for the long post. The quick description is that he has done much for the Bureau, but against his will. He's a strong telepath. And that's all.

Matt, it might be a bit hard for you to be the vellos ship. I would have been a more convensional ship, easier to wrok with. Also, you guys are just using your characters, and those ships are worth more than $500,000. My real ship is the Unrelenting, a Pirate Carrier worth like 15 mil or so. I will be Jeff Cook of the Pirate Enterprise Enterprise. Ill think of a good name soon. I jsut downloaded the game but I havent gotten too far yet. I dont really have a background story for Jeff yet, but ill get that later as well.
The Enterprise has been a favorite of pirates for a hundred years or more. With a modular framework based so closely along the lines of the IDA Frigate (note the drive-train), the Enterprise is a joy to hotrod. This model sports several improvements, including both Federation-style shielding and Auroran railguns. Truly a must-have for the privateer on the move.

Very short bio: He was born on Earth to some poor parents. Threy couldn't afford college and even though Brian received a partian scholarship, he stil couldn't go. He needed a free education, so he joined up with the military. He excelled through the academy and became a helmsman on a Destroyer. A few years later most of the bridge crew was killed in an attack and Brian took charge. he didn't really do much, but it looked very good to his superiors. Info: This ship is one of the latest generation of spacecraft that has been developed by the Five Civilized Nations. It has been incredibly upgraded with triple shields and three engines instead of the standard one shield and twin engines.
In the latest tests, this vessel has been known to very vulnerable when the shields are down, because of the volatile fuel that the vessel uses. One of the major problems this vessel has is with its gryo-stabilizers. Because of the upgrades, the vessel is not completely stablized and has been known to spin out of control.

If you don't mind, I'm going to keep with the Vellos craft. It's not too hard to kill, I'd say the equal of a destroyer (of course, it depends on the pilot). Plus, it gives my charactor a lot of depth (the T2 rating and all). At any rate, I'll also play as the Bureau. And please notice I spelled Bureau with a u, and not a e. Just wanted to point that out.
Also, if you don't mind Hairfield (this is your thread after all), could everyone telegram me the major changes made through the record your using in Nova? Just before we start, I'm going to post some info about every forces backround, and it would be nice to know major changes to the galaxy. I will edit this part out of my post if you don't like it.
So far I know:
New Ireland was destroyed (Hairfield, could you get me specifics on that?)
Nirvana in the Procylon system has been colonized(Peacefully teraformed)
The rebellion just lost, or had to extract, the majority of it's contacts on three worlds due to the work of the Bureau (MUHAHAHAHAHA...but I like the rebellion...sniff sniff).
The Auroran lead house (The Moash), are now allied with the Bureau, and are working with them to destroy the other four houses. Let me make this clear: The Moash are with the BUREAU, not the Federation.
Any of these changes are debatable. Again, it depends on what information you all give me. If one of you has the Moash being completly dead, then I can't use that last bit. If one of you has blown up sol...well, I just need to know that kind of bad. Oh yeah, also, telegram me any planets you have gotten tribute from. We're going to assume that means whatever alliegance your in gets that planet. Once more, just say the word Hairfield, and I'll cancel this part of the post ASAP. I just like giving backround stories on the galaxies, and heres my chance!

My guy's name is Weasel Smith. Flying a Mod Starbridge (too lazy to go get stats at moment, must do so after Christmas) for the Wild Geese (I've beaten all strings except the Feds, because I don't work for b******s like Krane).
Mod Starbridge is called Flight of the Weasel. It has had its standard blasters replaced with FPC cannons and a 100-m railgun. Also mounting 2 Radar Missile launchers with a full compliment of ammo.

Pirates and Valkyries have gone together almost since the Valkyrie was first released. Somehow the hotrodded starship seems to embody the very idea of a swash-buckling corsair; so much so, in fact, that people who fly normal, unmodified Valkyries get a few sideglances from other spacelane users. Pirates take great pride in maxing their 'Valks' out, and most Valkyries will sport afterburners and custom paintjobs, as well as radically altered shield grids. This darkly menacing custom convert by Olaf Greyshoulders is no different.

Okay, like no one has given me major changes, so here's the few I have.
UHP-2002 in the Procylon planet has been teraformed and colonized. It is now called Nirvana. UHP-2001 is still quartentined (for unknown reasons), and it's atmosphere is too hostile to land anyway.
New Ireland in the Tuatha system has been destroyed by a Bureau agent (Agent McGowan). The Wild Geese were at a kind of war with him, and now they REALLY hate him.
The rebels have lost nearly all contacts on 7 worlds, due to the work of an undercover Bureau agent. The rebellion is still fighting strong, however.
The Polaris sent many agents into the Federation (The Mu'Hari class, to be specific). Many of these agents have also been compromised by the Bureau of Internal Investigation.
The Auroran Empire has been weakened. The leaders of the Moash house have been captured by the Bureau, and the station protecting the planet Moash destroyed. The Bureau then "convinced" the house leaders to plan an offensive against the Federation. Each of the other four houses sent a fleet to Federation space. However, because the Moash planned it, the Federation new in advance, and had fleets waiting. Due to this, the Aurorian empire has been weakened. They are still holding their front lines, but internal security has nearly been halved.
There you have it. Borders are pretty much the same, though the Bureau and Federation are now in slightly better condition.

So, who to ally with......
OOC: I have an idea, the storyline seems to be at the point of registration. That seems to be a bit late. I think we should start before New Ireland was destroyed, before the issues with the Moash house and the Aurornans, before the Bureau began to really get all the Polaris spies, before the rebs lose all the contacts; just start close to the beginning. Those events will allow for more things to RP with.
Also matt, u should register, the Javelin is much better than the Arrow. It gets three little darts too and better weapons.
Finally, we will probably begin to RP within the next few days. Tell me whether you want me to start RP'ing on this thread or make a new one. I know that some people might be gone for Christmas and after but you can still just join in when you all get back. Everyone tell me what you all prefer. And we could use some more Feds.
Starting a new thread would probably work better.

As for registration, there's some problems there. My brother refuses to let me, he wants to get the registration numer...shall we say, elsewhere? He's got the EV Registration program locked, I'm not sure how, but I am sure why. Can't wait for javelin though! All I'd have to do is land on Earth and....muhaha!
Perhaps starting at the begining wouldn't be a bad idea. I would say to keep the teraforming of UHP-2002 (Nirvana) to having happened. It's pretty pointless, but it gives us one more place near Earth where we can meet. Just a suggestion. It's up to you guys, though. I could really care less.
