Lietuveska Withdraws from CACE, Population Shocked

Lietuveska

Official Report from Ministry of Foreign Affairs

After a member of the CACE, who shall remain nameless, telegrammed the nation of the United Socialist States of Lietuveska, we were asked to not accept aid from the nation of Knootoss, as it was a member of the South Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Apparently, SATO and the CACE are rivals, and the USSL was informed so by the CACE member.

In response, we have officially declared our ejection from the Coalition of Anti-Capitalist Economies. This current event is not the only one which has caused our resignation. It must be taken into account that all CACE members have to conform to a vote held by other members to allow trade with a capitalist country. Also, actions by the CACE led to the severe economic collapse of Lietuveska one year ago (month RL). When the economic downturn occurred, it was blamed on UN resolution 11-24-03 (the date it was installed). The CACE in fact supported the resolution, and formed it. Finally, this recent move made by a CACE member to ask that we refuse aid is uncalled for and unacceptable.

We will no longer tie ourselves with the misguided CACE. We remain a democratic socialist nation, but we are under no terms "anti-capitalist". We are rather "pro-socialist". It is our full regret we ever joined such a tolitarian alliance to begin with.

[ooc: You could have asked your own alliance for aid, you know. No strings attached, three hundred million dollars.

And something tells me you didn't read the charter when you joined...]

While we would like to invite the nation of Lietuveska to reconsider this rash decision, we note with some confusion regarding the apparent failure of the representatives of Lietuveska to read the CACE Charter before signing it.

Regarding aid, why does one not turn to it's own alliance, all of which who have pledged to offer aid? Why does one instead turn to a nation which has created a CACE Containment Alliance based on delusions and spurious premises?

The aid was not absolutely necessary, but as it was offered, we readily accepted it. We also respect Knootoss for offering such aid. However, it is not our desire to be in the CACE, as it has repeatedly done silly things, most namely supporting the 11-24-03 UN Resolution.

Our resignation is not meant to offend members of the CACE, but rather to instill our nation as an independent entity. Thank you for you concern however, and we hope that the CACE may prosper.

Very well. While we may not agree with your reasoning, it is your reasoning and we will respect if forthwith. While we will not debate the UN resolution here, we note that it has improved the lot of workers all around the world.

We wish your nation a prosperous and free future.

We regret that Lietuveska has found their alliance with CACE to be so restrictive. We admit, Xikuang had no formal dealing with Lietuveska-- perhaps had we, or had others, things might be different now. We wish the people and the nation of Lietuveska peace and prosperity, and we hope that relations between our nation and your own will continue in friendship. We hope on behalf of CACE that you will continue to see our membership as friends to your cause. We wish you every happiness.

Friends, although the peoples of Sacco and Vanzetti had no contact with Lietuveska we are sad to see you leave CACE and we wish your peoples all happiness for the future.

May we just point out that S&V and other anarchist peoples are well represented within CACE, so it cannot be described as a "totalitarian alliance".

Good luck and best wishes.

As the offending nation alluded to in Lietuveska's message, we should make several things clear. First, at no point did SeOCC tell Lietuveska not to accept the aid, we merely expressed surprise that they sought aid from a nation which attempted to invade SeOCC over ... nothing, rather than from the CACE, which was explicitly started to provide mutual aid among its members. We, in fact, gave them our blessing to accept the aid, but urged them to assure that no strings were attached to the aid. That is all.

Frankly, we are quite happy to have Lieteveska leave. That they would call the CACE totalitarian shows how little they have intereacted with their former colleagues, and given the fickle nature of Lietuveska's leadership, and their clear lack of devotion to the common cause of all CACE nations, it is clear they had little to add. Had they taken part in the decision making process of the CACE perhaps they could have avoided this altercation altogether.

We wish them the best with their new militaristic sugar daddy and bid them adieu.

Public statement from the SATO directorate of Compassionate Relief.
We are very glad that Lietuveska accepted the aid package that we offered. We are confident that this money can make the difference in building that power plant, which will warm the houses of Lietuveskan families and, hopefully, electrify their economy as well.

It is sad that the CACE, or rather more specifically the SeOCC government, has chosen to politicise our humanitarian offer. However, I do not see it as the task of the SATO directorate of Compassionate Relief to comment on ongoing happenings in the international scene.

Lietuveska is an example of a nation that takes pride in it’s own traditions while accepting help from others to better achieve their goals. We look forward to working with them in the future

The state secretary of Foreign Affairs speech on the matter at a ‘WRO congress’.

Ladies and gentlemen, member of the press,

Lietuveska accepting our aid is an example of progress!

It gives us the opportunity to better this world, and finally spend our SATO aid budget on things worthwhile! This is finally a good use of money that has been gathering in SATO treasuries for decades. And I don’t need to tell you that aid equals opportunity. You cannot sell things to a destitute country.

But apart from that, we have a responsibility, a commitment if you will, to promoting peace and stability in the world. And giving aid is a part of generating that stability. Because peace and prosperity go hand in hand.

CACE again shows it’s rigid attachment to the realpolitik of the past, instead of looking towards the future. Ladies and gentlemen I condemn the rogue SeOCC corporate government for rigidly trying to make truly socialist nations conform to their will and I especially condemn their bitterness when one nation refuses to roll over and comply!

It is thanks to you, ladies and gentlemen of the WRO, that this country remains on track: committed to an alternative form of government that is neither purely capitalist now purely socialist, a pragmatic nation committed to the middle road.

But I should not digress into ideological rhetoric. Here, today, I make my offer to the people of Lietuveska. You may have lost potential partners in the CACE, but we offer to replace them. We have an extensive network of free trade and contacts all over the world that has been built up over the years. With the permission of you, and our greatest economic minds I offer them to ride our trade network. I offer them free trade, or regulated fair trade, whichever their government prefers. We will be accommodating to their needs, and will respect their socialistic background as we have done on numerous occasions in the past. They need only ask and we will provide to the best of our ability.

Ladies and gentlemen, while old options may have failed, I see new options opening up for Lietuveska. Should they require security then SATO should not be hesitant to provide it. But we should be careful not to pressure them. Any agreement should be primarily in their interest.

OOC : and by all means, Lietuveska, see that also as an IC offer made to your government for free trade / fair trade / access to our economic network / SATO membership. Pick and choose, whatever strikes your fancy :)

"It is good that the nation of Lietuveska is willing to make such an important step forward, and one away from the kind of disgusting idealogies that fuel such nations as Seocc. Perhaps they will take this time to hire ministers who don't happen to all be movie stars and models, though that would be a relatively more drastic step in the general world politic; one that many nations have yet to make."

[That last is semi-OOC, since I'm sure you just used movie star/model pictures, and that the characters aren't actually based on them. Still. :P]

Negative. The nation of SeOCC requested that we not accept aid, or perhaps there was a very large misunderstanding. Regardless, other reasons led to our exit, and we are glad we left, as you apparently are, too.

We wish them the best with their new militaristic sugar daddy and bid them adieu.

Lietuveska is one of the most peaceful nations in the world, and has never engaged in war, though we have been involved in one peacekeeping operation with Belarussian States. We have the same president as ever, though elections are coming next year (Jan. 25). However, President Weston has experienced a seven percent increase in his popularity since our resignation.

Lietuveska would indeed be interested in furthering diplomatic and economic relations with Knootoss, and we request an embassy, at our expense, be constructed in Knootoss. We would also be delighted if such an embassy were developed here. Our Vice President is also interested in a visit to Knootoss.

Just because we have sexy ministers and you don't doesn't mean we discriminate based on looks.

"See? They fully admit that they're every bit as sexy as I told them."

"Toby, I thought you'd gotten over this."

"Bob, they call our 'ministers' ugly."

"What ministers? The Federal Government? Let's face it, Fernando is a fine executive, but not a 'fine' executive by any means."

"Bah."

"And I'm still not going to war for your sex drive. Go pester Sonya again or something, will you?"
