This is a thread for me really, though comments and critisism is welcome.

The Gauss Rifle

http://weapons.travellercentral.com/gauss/gauss_marder.gif

The Iuthian Gauss Rifle is the standard weapon for all armed forces in Iuthia, ranging from the latest to the earliest in design they all use the same principal of using magnetics to accelerate the round up to a high velocity, only resently has this technology been enhanced beyond previous conventional weapon standards and as such all forces have been modified to various versions of this Rifle, the older versions are barely better then their conventional competitors, however the later versions have made vast improvements.

The weapon is built around a central cerametal alloy chassis/receiver to which all sub-assemblies are attached. As a result, the weapon is extremely rigid, and the modular assemblies allow different sight assemblies, barrels and stocks to be fitted as required.

The weapon is extremely accurate and the standard electro-optical computing gunsight provided with the weapon greatly assists in long range shooting. The sight compensates for such factors as wind speed and direction, local gravity, temperature and humidity and is ruggedized. Interestingly, the Iuthian Gauss Rifle is fitted with auxilliary iron sight, in the (highly unlikely) event that the optical sights should fail.

The weapon is fitted with a seperate safety and selector. When the weapon is placed in the semi-automatic mode, the pull required to actuate the electronic trigger is reduced from a standard 3.5 kg to a mere 750 g.

Although C R Enterprises is a subsidiary of the nation state Communist Rule, we would like to inquire what would the chances be of our military purchasing some of your fine weapons. While we will not receive the same discount as weapons bought from the Communist Rule, your weapons seems perfect for our infantry troops. If for sale, about what would each unit run?

Also, a simple question: Are you saying that when not placed in semi-auto mode, the trigger pull is 3.5 kG?

Thank you for your time

Sincerely,
Prime Minister Dmitri Filitov

Probably... I've been looking for a picture for some time (I've been RPing Gauss Technology for some time, I could even describe the effects someone described to me when I shot them with one...) but this one came up with a google image search for "Gauss Rifle" so I like it.

C R Enterprises... two things. One, this is a OOC thread which means that you don't know about it as a nation, only as a player. Two, Iuthia does not deal in the arms trade, we develop weapons for Iuthia and only Iuthia...

I don't know enough about guns to know exactly how much 3.5 kG is... so I couldn't be certain about it, like the picture I saw a nice describtion of the weapon and then decided that seeing as it is 5:00am over here I would have it for the thread mixed with my own additions. My assumption is that the gun has a low kick due to the amount of effort we've put into reducing the recoil... afterall, Rail Guns fire rounds at such a speed that we would end up having them fly out of our hands if we didn't get around the problem.

Ahem... anyways, you get the idea... this is just a bit more information on what was once a vague idea I used for my RP's... I imagined them more bulky and technological but this picture looked pretty so... well, you know the rest, I may replace it with something I drew if I can be bothered.

Of course, sorry. I just assumed when everyone else was using the OOC bubbles, I should use them too. Apologies.

Don't worry about it, the bubbles aren't needed in this thread because I have "OOC" in the title.

Actually its a really well hacked and slahed pic of an L85, the rear area is cut from a FAMAS and the front barrel/muzzle is new aswell. the greyscaling really bring the whole thing together nicely.
