At 10:30 PM, Colerica Imperial News has been told, the military recieved a tip from Colerican spies lurking throughout the nation. The spies informed the military that another cell, even larger than the one in Zachara, of the Global Liberation Army was operating out of Alatsar, Colerica's third largest city. The military dubbed the raid, Operation: Savage Eagle, paying homage to Colerica's national animal.
With the arrival of special forces aid from the nations of Central Facehuggeria and Extonia, respectively, the military swept the city. Security police and Imperial Royal Guard forces locked down all the exits from Alatsar, making sure no one arrived or left.
For the duration of the night, a combined total of over six thousand elite special forces troops combed the city, looking for GLA terrorists. Over one hundred and seventy-six arrests of confirmed GLA terrorists were made. An additional thirty-eight GLA members were killed.
Losses on the special forces side have been yet to be released, but are suspected to be very low--only around a dozen in total, with an additional thirty plus injured.
Magistrate of War, Xevven Jericho, called the operation, "a great victory for our nation. The GLA has cornered themselves, and they have ran out of room to run."
Some people didn't find the operation such of a success as the Empire is proclaiming. Angela Rosann, 21, is a resident of Alatsar. She said, "I don't really think that the military did enough. I had my home broken into by the special forces, and I was treated like I was a criminal. I'm not a criminal. The military should have been finding ALL of the terrorists, not harassing college girls."
Supreme Military General, Azben Koren, released a statement, saying: "The operations of last night proved to be a complete success. By our calculations, we believe we completely swept the GLA out of Alatsar. There are only so many of the terrorists left in Colerica. We promise you that the attacks will decrease vastly within the course of the next few days."
When asked about the status of Alatsar, General Koren replied, "We have currently placed Alatsar under martial law. General Jonathon Wade has been appointed to command the city until we can finish up operations. As soon as we verify that no more GLA terrorists are in Alatsar, General Wade will hand control of the city back over Principal Director Rison."
The detained GLA terrorists are expected to be sent to Isle Majo to join their fellow members in prison. There, they will be formally charged with plotting terrorist plans and attempting to overthrow the government and will be executed.
Emperor Maderic Thra hasn't yet addressed the success of the raid, but the Emperor's Palace did release a statement, reading: "The Emperor wishes to express his gratitude to the elite special forces of Colerica, Central Facehuggeria, and Extonia. He wishes to state that he is extremely satisfied with the results of the operation."
The Emperor's younger sister, Magistrate of State, Kressi Thra, couldn't be reached for comment.
