At 3:17 pm, Auburn time; The MSS Flaming Arrow transport ship left the spaceport on Nereid to Janus, the planet orbiting the star Wolf 359, escorted by four hyperspace converted Orion fighters. On board were 10,000 colonists, enough supplies to last the colony for three years, and a hydroponic garden to supplement their food supply.
At 3:41 pm, Auburn time; the Flaming Arrow entered hyperspace near Chiron's orbit. The trip is expected to take about 18 months, when the crew will unload the ship and return to Nereid, leaving the fighters to defend the colony.
A second tranport, the Glacial Advance, will leave for Janus, carrying technical equipment, and defense satellites for the fledgling colony.
The King said that this colony was 'the first step towards spreading the seeds of humanity out of the Solar System' and will be looked upon as a great day for all Moontians.
