Nuclear Sub Stranded in Pacific Ocean !! (open Diplomacy RP)

A Hogsweat Nuclear Submarine has been stranded in the Pacific ocean. It was on patrol, when a giant squid attacked it, unknowingly to the crew, springing creating a small hole in the coolant, and broke open the ballast. The sub has little over 10 Kg of ballast remaining, and is not likely t surface. The nuclear submarine, Power Of The People escaped from the squid and was heading home, until it realised that it had been trailing coolant for over one hundred miles. It is predicted the sub has about one day left of fuel, then it will be stranded forever, sinking at a rate of four miles a day, until it reaches maximum press and implodes. ( four miles a RL 12 hours in this RP ). The Hogsweat government is asking for any assistance from outer sources that can help the sub. Two hundred and sixty seven lives are at stake, and so are twenty cruise missiles/torpedoes. If they are detonated, we dread to think what might happen. The government is already trying to clean up the fuel spread across the ocean.

Message to the Hogsweat Goverment

To be of any assistance, we need to know the exact location of this submarine.

If the submarine has been leaking fuel........does this mean its nuclear material has escaped into the ocean, causing unimaginable harm?
14-12-2003, 11:05
I will send 4 battleships to the subs location but I need the coordinates. Battleships will be ready in 2 hours.
14-12-2003, 11:07
We presently have a number of our Triton-class Trimaran vessels out on manuevers. They have powerful engines and are able to tow large vessels at high speeds in a pinch. We can send them towards the sub at full speed (in excess of 40 knots)

No it is not yet leaking radiation, only fuel, but if it implodes of pressure it WILL take all its onboard nuclear/cruise stocks with it.
Coordinates are estimated : 12y , 70 x, 95 z.
(Im not that good with coordinates )

All help is accepted with grace and the thanks of the People of Hogsweat.
14-12-2003, 11:12
Our Triton-class Trimarans are en route at maximum possible speed and will be arrive at the given coordinates in approximately two hours time. They can then tow the sub at approximately 10 or 12 knots to the nearest port.

Many thanks comrade Tokarev. I sincerely hope this situation can be resolved quickly. However, we cannot contact the submarine, so it might be a bit off course from where you arrive. Hopefully we wont have to chase it.

Sir KnowsAlot swore violently
There is a nuclear sub SINKING?

He ran to the Naval command centre, and started firing off commands.
Get those ships out there now!

The possibility of terrorist attack!.
For the love of God!

Ships sent for Anti-Air and Anti Naval protection:
1x "VINE" AA battle cruiser
1x "Exodus" Carrier
4x "Seraphim" Destroyers
4x "Rock" Destroyers
4x "Elven" Destroyers

All these ships were on deployment in the 'Med, so they will be on scene shortly. They will be able to start attaching slings immediately

What FUEL? IF it's a nuclear submarine it's fuel is either uranium or plutonium, both are radioactive and if you leak any it will be radioactive. And if a nuclear submarine is leaking fuel it MUST already be too late for the crew and boat, the reactor is the most heavily armored part of the ship and if it leaks the ship must have a whole all the way through and the size for the reactor will make the ship sink like a stone.

And 4miles a day doesn't leave much time for help to arrive, a titanium hulled ship would last one 6hours.

1000people on a sub, WTF kind of sub is this.

How do you think you are going to clean the fuel? Use an anti-radiation vacumn?

Sorry if i sound nit picky.
14-12-2003, 11:21
[ooc: I have 20 Sea King ASW helicopters onboard that deplyment.. Finding the sub will not be a problem, nor will attaching slings, but we are unable to tow]
14-12-2003, 11:21
Five of the Tritons arrive at the coordinates, but the submarine is not there nor present on passive radar. An active radar sweep of the area begins immediately, with the five Ospreys giving continuous air surveillance.
14-12-2003, 11:24
AXM: My Tritons can do the towing. Each one can tow about 10,000 tons at about 10 or 12 knots, and there are five of them in the immediate area.

The Imperial Battleship IBS Eternal Dragon has arrived and sent out minisubs and small boats to take any radioactive material and secure it for safe return to one of your military bases. Military scientists would make it safe. All you need to do is let us in.

1.) about 500 of the people are guard garrison.
Everything else I would just liek to ignore.

If the Sea Kings can locate the sub, they could sling it and wait until the Tokarev ships can arrive and tow it away.

As the job is already done, Hogsweat awards Tokarev and Axe Wielding Maniacs each a reward sum of 1 billion

I hope noone takes me to court for spilling fuel and radiation all over the ocean.

A standard SSN can carry about 200-300 people... having 1000 is ridiculous. In addition, as Pure Evil said, your sub should be gone now, due to the size of the hole...

The hole is tiny, even small then the circumference of a pin. Ive edited the amount of men by the way.

OOC:
Some people have adress the issue of fuel (IIRC the nuclear power source on a sub is solid (fuel rods)) a coolant leak (if you sub relies on some fancy coolant to give it great performance over a water cooled system) could be more explainable and would be gradual leading to reator over heating and shutdown.

There is alos the issue of emergency venting of the ballast tanks which unless soem serious dmaage has been done to the tanks would allow your sub to reach the surface although since your sub is sinking high levels of ballast tank damage would be involved.

IC: in response to the emrgency the Crookfur Admrialty has placed the Deep sea rescue vehcile on airbonre deployment standby and the deep sea recovery team (basically a massive salvage platform with winchs and small deep water subs for lifting submarines) on full sail alert.

Both. Shall we make it the sub launches a convention torpedo on one of your ships ?

Yes it is cheapass, it was designed and built in 3 NS months ready for the possibility of a nuclear war. And the squid was two times its size. If you were the captain what would YOU do against a giant squid two times your size ?

Rerek Gordonovich, the Tenebri Premier, is sitting in his LFC (Large Fancy Chair) and is apparently asleep. His Foreign Affairs Advisor, Urlo Skelnov, taps him on the shoulder.

Skelnov: "Sir?"
Gordonovich: "Eh? Wha...?"
Skelnov: "Sir, a nuclear submarine is sinking near your favorite beach..."
Gordonovich: "How near?"
Skelnov: "We're not sure, but close enough to do significant damage to the local ecosystem."
Gordonovich: "Huh?"
Skelnov: *sigh* "Your pretty fishies will die."
Gordonovich: "WHAT?? Send our entire navy to stop this atrocity!"
Skelnov: "Sir, you already sent our entire navy to stop the oil spill in your second favorite beach..."
Gordonovich: "So...."
Skelnov: "So, all we can do is send a fishing boat."
Gordonovich: "Ah. WELL. In that case, send a... um... guy. In a boat. And um... try and fish out a torpedo.
Skelnov: "Sir, I don't think that's such a good--"
Gordonovich: "DO NOT QUESTION MY AUTHORITY!"

'Comrade Premier, Terebrian fishing boats are launching against our sub'
The Premier was in an irritable mood - his favourite baseball team had lost 600-0 - He had all the teams players shot and replaced.
'Destroy them then'
'But sir, theyre civvies ?'
'SO!'
'Da comrade Premier'

10 Ka-52 hokums hovered over the fleets immediate areea.
'Bravo sixty two, engage on sight'
'Roger'
The 10 Russian Helicopters descended, spraying lead and hellfire missiles down on the unfortunate fishermen.

Fleet Commander Johnson, aboard the "Vine" AA battlecruiser winced as he heard the news about the submarine not being at the co-ordinates.

He quickly ordered all avaliable Sea Kings into the air, and sent 6 of his avalible destroyers to do a wide area sea box search using their passive radar.

Within an hour one of the Sea King helicopters had spotted the fuel leak, and the battlegroup swung into action, making for the position where the leak seemed to end. All the ships quickly went into line abreast formation, overlapping their USSR4t and TB23 sonar Systems (I *really* hope you do not have UAA1 Abbey Hill systems). All the Sea Kings converged on the spot, before swinging out like a giant spoke, remaining on full search.

The Captain of the "Seraphin" Destroyer, the Wallaby had spotted the submarine on the USSR4t system, so quickly he called the Fleet Commander and alerted him.

Johnson smiled, and ordered the Sea Kings to find the exact co-ordinates of the submarine, while he ordered the Task Force to converge on the new co-ordinates.

To: Triton Ships
From: Fleet Commander Johnson
Subject: Submarine
We have found her co-ordinates. 13y , 72 x, 95 z. Need assistance with towing.

As men from the "Seraphim" destroyers quickly attached slings to the submarine, the fleet was placed on full alert.

As the crews were taken aboard the "Cook", the task group awaited the arrival of the Triton ships. Fleet Commander Johnson also called in a number of the "Auckland" Cruisers to assist with anti-ship defense.
16-12-2003, 06:37
Confirmed. The Triton ships head towards the stranded sub, preparing tow lines.

------------------------

In about twenty minutes, the Triton ships arrive at the new coordinates, and spent the next fourty minutes setting up a sophisticated towing mechanism that prevents either the subs or the Tritons from taking too much of the stress or the weight, allowing for a speed of approximately 15 knots, assuming calm weather.
