"Write about me in TIME magazine when we get back. Promise?"
"I promise. Now don't waste your time."

The reporter replaced his daytime film with lowlight film as the sailor jumped off the cruiser into a nearby patrolboat. In his arms, he clutched a 2 x 3 Taiwanese flag. The patrol boat speeds towards the island, taking care to avoid the rocks. Once the boat arrived, the sailor planted the flag firmly into the ground to the backdrop of the rising sun.
"It is done - Diayu is part of Taiwan!"

The reporter began typing an email to his editor. He would try to fly to Tokyo and Beijing in time for the diplomatic stories.

Peacekeepers, we need to build some damn bases and have some patrols in the area! Best to divert the PLAN East Sea Fleet to encricle to islands and allow onlyauthorized civilian vessels in the area. And dammit, move some SLBMs there to ward off the Japs!

While I do not doubt your claims, and in fact believe your cause to be a just one, I do feel that your methods are dangerous. You leave the pacific in a precarious position. How this will play out with the Japanese is anyone's guess. I just hope that the complicated geo-politics of the region do not cause another war.

Furthermore, had you alerted me and some other pacific nations we would have joined you in a legal attempt to reclaim these islands, through diplomatic pressure and the like, avoiding a brash action such as this.

(With the Galdania-Naori war and the Kaihariki (sp?) midair incident, it is a somewhat, sneaky method.)

Lighthouses constructed by the Japanese extremist groups have been shelled, and it their place, a Taiwanese lighthouse shall be built. Engineers are already landing on the island, and plans are being drawn up for the construction of a heavily-fortified military outpost.

We appreciate the PRC's offer of assistance, but we must decline it.

His Omniferocity is concerned about this incident- primarily because less violent means of effecting the desired result (repatriation of traditional Chinese territory) were available and no peaceful attempts were made prior to the use of force. This has the potential to destabilize the entire western Pacific.

OOC: This is sorta semi-RL based. In the real-world, Japan has attacked a boatload of Chinese protesters trying to protest on the island. The outgoing unpopular KMT president, Lee Teng Hui, decided to ignore the whole issue.

Legal methods have been tried for decades and have resulted in the Japanese destroying our flagpoles and attacking our fisherman.

In rapid response to this action of Japanese (Kajiraki) aggression, the Armed Republic of Sino Military Junta has announced the imprisonment of all Japanese people into concentration camps where they will be spending their days working for twelve hours daily (men with small arms manufacturing, and the women with agriculture), until further notice. Currently, some 450 have been rounded up.

As further protest over the actions of this Japanese scum, the Armed Republic of Sino's Special Weapons Corps have launched under the authorization of General Liu, 20 DF-21's targetting most of Kajiraki's major urban areas. These ones are only armed with coventional explosives (to serve as a warning), future launches to Kajiraki will contain NBC agents.

Since when did the master of evil become all problem solvingly diplomatic? Go mind your own business.

ITEM:
His Omniferocity is well-known for his preference for diplomatic solutions to international disputes. Despite having one of the largest and best-equipped military forces in the world, the Dominion has only been at war three times in its entire history. His Omniferocity said it best, "War is bad for business". War in the Pacific disrupts EOE trade, so His Omniferocity makes strenuous efforts to avert war whenever possible- even with such egregious warmongers as People's Anthill.

ITEM:
Evil Overlord Enterprises is a major trading organization across the entire Pacific. Trade with the 1.8 billion EOE citizen-shareholders of the Dominion is a major moneymaker for any nation so engaged. EOE exists to make money. War in the Pacific disrupts EOE trade. That makes this little spat the Dominion's business.

ITEM:
I observe that- despite your vituperative name-calling, calls for repatriation of Japanese-seized territory, and general egging-on of both sides- you did not move to take possession of the disputed islands. Therefore, this dispute is primarily between Japan and Taiwann.

Since His Omniferocity is calling for restraint and diplomacy, while you are calling for a wider war and generally urging actions that are at best unwise, perhaps it is not the Evil Overlord who should be minding his own business.

GeneraL Liu was jogging with some of his fellow officers and enlisted men in the morning. All of them were dressed in their PT T-shirts and camo trousers. General Liu seemed hidden amongst the crowd without his service uniform. Their rude singing can be heard throughout the base (the old PT song sung with some lyrics politically rewritten):

"I don't know but I've been told,
Japanese p*ssy's mighty old..."

"Is that a nude Jap woman see?
I don't want to commit bestiality!"

(OOC: ROFL!)

Liu's secretary suddenly came running alongside his superior.

"Sir, about the DF's, ETA 4 minutes." The young secretary seemed ridiculous, dressed in his best set of service uniform and sprinting alongside a column of sweaty men doing PT.

"Very well. Let their civilians suffer. If they down back down from our very physical warning then they will suffer much more." Liu replied, the same coldness still in his voice and face. "Go back to my office and get me the service uniform."

"Yessir!" The secretary fired a quick salute on the run before dashing off to his duty. It was inconvenient for Gen. Liu to return the salute.

Suspecting that the Japs are not likely to cause any further trouble. General Liu hears that the column has just finished their last song. He begins chanting the old mantra of the ARSA:

"Fight! Win! Prevail!"*
"Fight! Win! Prevail!"
"Fight! Win! Prevail!"

The column jogs off into their third kilometer.

Diayoutai Islands

Upon immediate recongization by low-frequencies and multi-frequencies radar by the Chinese People's Liberation Air Force Air Defence Brigades, a total of 8 J-11 (Su-27SK) fighters immediately diverted to the course of the Kajiraki fighters. But, seeing this as an immediate threat, the 8 fighters quickly activated their IRST targeting at a BVR range, and activated their R-73E SRAAMs. The Chinese fighters were directly coming at the Kajiraki's fighters' left. Waiting for the Authorization to fire from the onboard computer, and looking straight ahead with their Schlem Helmet-Mounted Sight, they were eager to bring down the Japanese fighters.

"Launch Authorized."

Suddenly, the pilots immediately fired 2 R-73E heat-seeking missiles each at the Kajiraki fighters 8in a distance of 18km, making it a total of 16 missiles fired. The pilots looked straight at the displayed locations of the Japanese fighters, defiant to bring them down. As they waited the fighters to respond, they finally initated their offensive manuvers, directly heading ahead of the Kajiraki fighters incase if they aren't blown out of the sky.

The Azn People's Republic of East Islandia would like to remind New Genoa that this is not their concern. WHile it is true that Taiwan intruded on the Diayoutai, sovereign CHINESE, (not taiwanese or mainland) chinese have been attacked and forced off the diayoutai before in a violation of international law at sea. Whatever you may think, please rethink your position; we may yet be able to keep this down, but for now, my planes are firing at Kajiraki.

EOE, please cooperate with us by not sending in military intervention but instead as an arbiter for talks. We are simply responding by scrambling fighters to our ally, and we do not wish any further war, but let it be known that invasion is a high possibility if Japanese troops move onto the islands. we call for abandonment by both sides until talks can be created, and please, please stay out of this. We assure you that most of the Asian trade can be diverted somehow, probably through the Spratlys or an alternate route, and that your profits will not be affected.
We are confident that a peaceful solution may be created by allowing all sides to withdraw and determine the situation through a treaty or through a convention that will kick off the Japanese.

OOC
however, Premier Qu has his doubts about resolving this peacefully, as the Japanese have victimized the Chinese and many other Asian peoples and the world has not cared. "Break!" Leader Tan ordered her squadron.
The fighters needed no order for that; they immediately split into wingmen and prepared to launch ASXs, very advanced IR tracking missiles. Just to be safe, they activated their anti-missile lasers, small pinpoint beams of coherent light capable of locking onto missiles and disablign their guidance. Needless to say, these systems were experimental and not fully developed, so they knew better than to rely on them.
Besides, Athena or not, their planes were equipped with an earlier variant of ARCTIC, designed to work against Athena.

"That being said, your movements have been very very controversial. And we need to reign in Xiaguo and Sino. Also, the Resistance may very well be needed, but we have some Japanese nations in it, so we may be split over this issue.
"Nonetheless, whatever my personal feelings and whatever my nation may scream for, we must go to talks first. Dont withdraw your troops yet, unlike the speaker in the Politburo says, but do so after the conference. If you decide to pull back some of your troops, i will dispatch forces or ask AG to send interim forces to keep Kajiraki from attacking. But in any case, we have to play this right and keep ourselves from looking the agressor, which is what is happenign right now, even if the Diayoutai are ours. The world expects Chinese to grovel on their feet for what is rightfully ours, but i think we can work out a compromise that wont destroy our pride, or our nations.
"If not, then we will act militarily. But please hold off for now, Comrade, as i ask you as a personal favor and on the behalf of my nation and for the sake of peace-for now.

He turned to the loudspeakers of the ship, as it was time to make the SITREP that occured every hour.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the Diaoyutai islands of Kajiraki have been captured by Taiwanese forces. This is no drill, this is the real thing. We are departing immediately with the intention of protecting Kajiraki from aggression, and we are on SITLEV CON 3. You know what to do."
The 2 Arsenal Ships, SuperCarrier, 6 Destroyers and 4 Frigates, with a wolfpack of 6 subs below, began to turn in the sea.

ARSNB Junjing Harbor (1026 Hours)

"Sir, we have a new problem. The United City States of the New Empire has been manouvering in an unfavorable position." The secretary reported to Rear Admiral Tsui, dropping a dossier on his desk.

"Prepare the Xia-II's. We're goin' hunting." The Admiral replied seconds later, removing himself from his thoughts and the dossier. "They must be out at international waters by now."

Within minutes of the order being issued three Xia-II missile subs surfaced each with 20 JL-2 SLBMs fully armed with enough conventional explosives to take out a city. Their missile bays open, exposing the deadly threat eminent from their silos. Obviously they were set to destroy the New Empire fleet headed to aid the mongrel Japs. 60 missiles, that is how many the Armed Republic of Sino's Military Junta have authorized for now, but more will come if there are survivors.

Within twenty minutes they were all in the air.

OOC: The JL-2 has a an 8,000km range, that more than enough to reach their targeted fleet.

Like all things Chinese, the Sinoese missle attack failed miserably. All but two missles were picked off in flight by interceptor systems based on an advanced Patriot system, but with small modifications. Of the two that got through, one was further picked off by an interceptor squadron of Hien IIs.

The one that did impact was aimed at Tokyo, but due to a jammer frequency, landed in a small fishing village well to the north. Cassualties were minimal, only 200 persons died, but it was enough to ignite a spark of revenge.

Empress Ryoko, upon consorting with her council, decided to take a form of passive action. As Chinese ancestorial presence was minimal in Japan, she decided not to imprison them, but to keep a closer watch on them. She also issued a statement that any mistreatment of persons of Chinese descent will be a dishonorable act, and the perpatrator would be asked to 'do the right thing', which was a nice way of saying commit seppuku.

If nothing else, she was only making the Sinoese look bad. She didn't launch a return attack, there was no killing of their people, no imprisonment of Chinese persons, nothing.

However, she did authorize the activation of the Sentinel units, and within minutes, the 20 coastal bateries, each with 48 missles, opened fire on the enemy aircraft. It didn't matter how stealthy the enemy was, or what form of ACR was used, the Sentinel would hit. Each missles had a max range of 200 miles, and a flying speed of Mach 3.2.

TheKajiraki pilots laughed at the launch of IR tracking weapons on their aircraft, and went into defensive manuvers. They acted smartly, not following the old idea of turn around and hope to out manuver the missle. Instead, they held their course, and allowed the antimissles systems on their aircraft to do the work. At the proper moment, when the missle was near impact, each fighter launched a decoy, a rather large solid box, into the missle's path.

The fighter would then pull up, and drop flares directly behind it, so that if the large ceramic compiste box impact didn't cause the missle to explode, the flares would set of the proximity charges.

Only two of the enemy missles were sucsesful, and inturn, one aircraft went down, and the other RTB.

All in all, the Chinese aggression did next to nothing to the Japanese forces. What it did do is make them look like war mongering dogs hell bent on destroying the relatively peacefull Japanese people.

Relatively peaceful Japanese people that had commited the utter most acts of bestial savagery in WWII and who ate the flesh of human during that period. Are the Japanese even human?

Are today's Japs even peaceful, considering that fact that many of this new generation would love to tear up their old postwar constitution and rebuild their old empire. It is known to U.S. INTEL that the Japs not only have the potential but also the finished products of biological agents in their other, more secretive arsenal. Are Japs peaceful? Of course not! They are not even civilized enough to be called men as they have practiced cannibalism on their enemies only so rencently in history.

OOC: The real reason for bringing this issue up now is that Chen is doing poorly in the polls with an election (Anyone read this issue of TIME?), and with Perfect China recognising Taiwan's independence, he needs a new enemy. (I don't think Japan patrols Diaoyutai with military forces)

"We have tried to find a peaceful solution for many decades, only to be met with Japanese bullets. However, with the increased international pressure on Japan to settle this issue with it's Chinese neighbours and the bombing of a village in Kaijiraki, we will withdraw our military forces temporarily. Peace and a fair settlement of Diaoyutai will be our eventual goal.

We extend an invitation to the leaders of Kaijiraki, East Islandia, PRC China, and Sino to Taipei for a series of diplomatic discussions on this matter.

We also apologise for the loss of civilian life at the hands of Sinoese missiles."

"VAMPIRES VAMPIRES VAMPIRES!"
The cry was echoed throughout the Raven's Roost and CICs, as the active defenses of the CBG mobilized.
The first to respond were the Honor-M Frigates. They were designed to destroy anything that flew, and the 2 Solid-State Lasers they had in place of guns proved that point nicely. The 8 lasers swept the sky with lightning accuracy, and the single, smaller, SSLs mounted on each of the ships came in as the weapons closed. Then the Rolling Airframe missiles leapt out of their launchers, and finally it came down to the 76mm Otro Melara Super Rapid cannon, which coated the air in flak. But some came far to close. Graysten, a Cunnigham class, rocked as the explosion swept her armored bow. 2 other Destroyers were damaged, the worst being mauled helicopter pads and hangars. Around 20 men had been killed, and 23 wounded.

Then came the retaliation. 20 LORAIN missiles locked on to the last known position of the subs, and with LASH sensors, they could find them easily, before slamming into them at supersonic speeds.

The crew readied the 10 AGM-223 H-HARM, a AGM-88 style missile that would home in on the 10 Sino SAM sites that they had selected. A small, free place called Taiwan

WILLIAM STIMSON
I sit at a restaurant table in the interior of Taiwan, where I have lived for a year. My wife and I were invited by a Taiwanese acquaintance of hers at the university to dinner. The tiny restaurant was opened by two former students, now married. The place is just one row of tables along a concrete floor, right by the road.

I marvel that a narrow tin shack like this can serve as a restaurant. "It's their home too," my wife's friend tells us. "When the last customer leaves, they move the tables aside and bring out the bed. This is where they sleep."

When the coffee came, it was better than any I had tasted. The meal was fit for a gourmet, too. The woman who brought the plates was a customer who got up from another table to help out. This is Taiwan. I do not know how else to describe it, except "postmodern".

The people seated at the tables around me tell me they are Taiwanese, not Chinese. They do not want their little democracy and thriving free-market society to be gobbled up by the same imperialist expansion that devoured Tibet.

Taiwan has deep historical connections with the west and Japan, as well as with the mainland. It is an amazing and vibrant little island, whose diverse cultural strands mingle and mix in a marvelously fertile way. This is not China. The people here do not want it to be China. They want it to be Taiwan.

The Dalai Lama tells how the first time he travelled to Beijing to plead with officials not to invade Tibet, he passed a point along the way where the Tibetan landscape and Tibetan houses, crops, animals and people abruptly gave way to a Chinese landscape with Chinese houses, crops, animals and people. He knew he had left one country and entered another.

Sitting at the table in the restaurant with us is a professor who tells of an analogous realisation she had of encountering a sharp national divide between Taiwan and the mainland. It came when she first arrived in Canada to begin graduate school and met Chinese students from the mainland.

My wife, a native Taiwanese, had the exact same experience in New York. She met no graduate students at New York University more foreign to her than those from the mainland. In the end, she found it impossible to talk to them about Taiwan, or anything else. The traditions, the background, the belief systems, the psychology - the nationality - of the Taiwanese and the mainlanders were so utterly different.

The mainland, though, would gobble up Taiwan like it did Tibet, and then try to obliterate what is indigenous here, like it has done there. Taiwanese do not want this. The democratically elected president, Chen Shui-bian, proposed a referendum to give the Taiwanese people a way to make their views felt. With characteristic audacity, Beijing warned of "consequences", should this go through. Now, George W. Bush, the president of the United States, has seconded that warning: the functioning of Taiwanese democracy interferes, at this time, with America's global agenda - North Korea, Iraq and the war on terrorism.

Taiwan is little. It lies close to the mainland. But it is no more China than America is England. The US just happened to be big enough to defend itself, and far enough away. In the two centuries since, America has become steadily bigger. It seems that size has become more centrally what America is about today than freedom. Its big diplomatic schemes with Beijing are more important than the liberty of one little island.

I once read a science-fiction story about a glittering crystal city, in which life had reached absolute perfection. There were no flaws. There was no crime. There was no disease. Every inhabitant led a charmed life & except one. The price for all this was that one innocent little girl had to be locked in a dungeon deep beneath the centre of the city. No school for this little girl, no playmates, no books - and no hope. Dressed in rags, she huddled in the corner of her dank cell. I forget the premise of the story and its plot, but the image springs to mind now as an apt one for Taiwan in the new Pax Americana.

"Nobody cares about you," the arrogant Chinese deputy snapped rudely at the Taiwanese representative who was trying to ask the World Health Organisation for help to combat Sars. Many died in Taiwan, which never did get admitted to the WHO, just like it is excluded from the United Nations. One of the few places that welcomes Americans with open arms, Taiwan leads a diplomatically buried existence. Only a handful of tiny nations officially recognise it.

What a heavy price to pay for this new world order, with America riding glorious and big at the helm. This may make sense to Mr Bush, but it makes me ashamed to be American, and proud that I happen to live now in small, free Taiwan.

Also, don't you think launching 60 SLBMs without warning or reason is an act of aggression. And keep in mind LORAIN-S travel are SCRAMjet weapons, traveling at Mach 6. The EB-52 Megafotress cruised about 90 miles from the nearest Chinise land. They used Wetball radar distortion and Athena cancellation to render the craft undectectable by radar. They could not track the aircraft by radar because it was using a LADAR/LIDAR system, which cannot be detected by other means. The crew readied the 10 AGM-223 H-HARM, a AGM-88 style missile that would home in on the 10 Sino SAM sites that they had selected. The SCRAMJet powered weapons had a max speed of Mach 6, and had Millimeter wave radar in case the target shut down it's own radar systems. The 10 missiles screamed toward the SAM radars, and the EB-52s, at Mach 1.1, made their exit.

OOC: Sino is located not in China but near the 175th longitude. So you may have to revise that.

OOC 2: Did I say that my aircraft buzzed around them like bees? As your missiles approached, our interception was head on. Onboard computers are surely capable of this type of calculation.
OOC-I will. But LORAIN is not a ballistic missile. It's capable of revising it's course, and evading countermeasures. It's about the size of the JSSOW. Tiny radar signature...

New Empire, I seem to recall that you're in NAIA. So why are you supporting the Japanese, who are imperialist and who refuse to give up the Diayoutai? Even Taiwan has given up their positions, yet Kajiraki and his ilk are still occupying the islands.

Also, the sea near the Diayoutai is very treacherous and too shallow for submarines, unless they're a few miles off from the actual area. IN fact, it's too shallow for anything but cruisers, patrol boats, and destroyers, nothing bigger.

There are Mexican ultranationalists that complain about the American "Occupation" of their land.

The point is, Taiwan is the aggressor.

But why I am really fighting is because without warning, with out a shot being fired, and still in the Pacific Ocean, 60 strategic weapons were launched by Sino forces. It was a short international staring contest. They couldn't take the pressure, and blinked. Now we're going to gouge their eyes out.

I'm tired of Sino's embarrassing actions which make Chinese look like the "sick men of Asia" that the Japanese made them out to be during World War II. So if you want to shoot at him, fine. I cant do anything with that man anyway.

But attack __Taiwan and I will swear to you it will be "war to knife, and the knife to the hilt," as Menelmacar seems so fond of saying.

First off, I do not express any racist comments as myself, only as my characters, who are semi-prejudiced, like characters in any Tom Clancy or Dale Brown novel, only less so (there you will find outright racism, probably spread from the authors). In hindsight i suppose you were, but since we all have OOC and IC mixed into our posts, we cant exactly tell where we're going.

Secondly, i'm not calling you racist because of what ur characters said; i suppose you didnt read it clearly or i wasnt very clear in what i wanted to state.
look below:

Like all things Chinese, the Sinoese missle attack failed miserably

i recall you having written that; even IF i was RPing, i would never say "like all things Japanese, it failed miserably." none of your characters are talking, and YOU are expressing what YOU think of chinese tech
and i remember saying this:

thats not the primary point; the primary point is that you're making racist and arrogant comments OOC. IC i dont mind, cuase i kno ur RPing, but ur injecting arrogance into ur Rping. Ex "... like all things chinese...failed miserably." I dont know if you're RPing that expression, but it sounds to me like you're being an arrogant bastard right there and calling us and our tech shitty.

i said i dont know if ur RPing that expression... so why dont you save us both a lot of grief and tell us if u were or were not?

if i mistook ur RPing for racism, then im sry. i have a tendency to do that because i am nationalistic in real life, altho i try to keep an open mind.

ANd I marched onto ur fucking islands? Taiwan is there, not me, and even if i were, i'm only supporting Taiwan as an ally. Sino can fight by himself, and if i remember correctly, he was more guilty of racist comments than u were, and i made that much clear to both of you.

And calling you imperialist was in the course of official communiques in the RP, and much like you said, ALL THINGS ARE DONE IC.
likewise, i respond: ALL THINGS ARE DONE IC. Of course you're not imperialist in RL, but my government views you as imperialist because of the fact that you refuse to give back territory that is not urs (ancestrally).

And IF i think i can bully you into it?
i dont have to. RPing is what this is about, and I WILL BURN IN HELL before i let the Japs build up a base on the DiayouTai to threaten us with.
And call me a racist wont you? Lashing out blindly is pointless, and even if im a bit paranoid, i am anything but racist. my characters say it every now and then and think it, but since Islandia has a LOT of Japanese people here too, we try not to think on one side.
Thats why we're in Taiwan, talking. THeres this wee thing called negotiation, but i suppose ur character doesnt want to, so we may have to COMPROMISE.
wow.

ANd call me an ultranationalist? HOW? GIVE ME SOME EVIDENCE! I didnt launch any missiles at you, i even tried to intercept ones headed towards you! I dont condone the theory of 'subhuman' races, racism, genocide, slavery, and i dont walk around thinking islandians can rape and kill everyone else because they're islandians. Thats ultranationalism mixed with racism. I suppose SIno is RPing too, but i find that offensive, even if im not Japanese.

I suppose a lot of apologies are in order from misunderstandings, so i'll start by apologizing for MY side of the misunderstanding. Now you can go ahead with YOUR apology.

ANd i dare you to try and send me to hell for supporting my ally.

Diaoyutai is uninhabited, and it would be pretty easy to get past the marine patrols at night with a speedboat and plant a flag on the island, as well as blow up the lighthouse. Of course, when it got to morning, your aircraft spotted me. That is solid RPing, and not a hint of godmodding.

_Tawian->A speed boat makes noise, and it is also logical to say a sailor on one of those ships would have heard the speed boat, alerted the captain, and your men would have been caught. Also, submarines in hte area using sonar would definately pick up a speed boat. And I assume you are using silent explosives? Again, people in the area would have heard explosions of you blowing up lighthouses. So if I say I take a stealth bomber loaded up, sneak in beloow radar, and bomb the hell outa your country, and get away without letting you respond at all, it isn't godmodding because the bombers was stealth, and it attacked at night when 100% of your nation sleeps and no one notices anything.

"Ships, Captain," the sensor officer reported to Captain Sung Minjo, commander of Mountain Calm, a Sea Tiger class assault cruiser stationed off the Diaoyutai, as part of the 30th Amphibious Assault Group's strike complement. "Sensor data shows them out to be from NE, some catamarans, probable carriers."
"Understood, Sensors," Minjo replied. The sister of the other Captain Sung, Minjo and her twin were well known throughout the fleet.
"Communications, what news from Command?"

"Forces Command Pacific orders us to stand down all offensive measures and not to fire unless fired upon," Communications replied. "but they say be ready, and have the Anshu X7s and the missiles from the Aggies ready."

the Anshu X7 was an advanced variant of the original Anshu, which had performace comparable to the French Asters. Also, Agrigento had sold EI several thousand high performance Electromagnetic pulse missiles, which were installed on the ships of the 30th Amphib Assault.

"Alert the shore based fighters and the airwing complement aboard Silver Admiral," Sung ordered. "Get us a CAP, but get them armed for offensive air combat only, no strikes on ships yet. And make sure that shore forces have a strike team ready to go at any time incase the forces from NE decide to make a move or offensively buffer us."

"Shi, Captain."

Minjo sat back in her chair and sighed. Now it was all up to the brass, and she hoped that there would be no war or swarms of NE craft sweeping up her ship.
**********
"MOVE SOLDIERS!" Lieutenant Kwai ordered. A small man of Burmese descent, he was a company commander in the Third Marine Guards Assault, and as he crouched behind a rock, watching his men dash up the shore from their hovercraft, he sighed. His men could do better.

THey were on a beach head on the rocky coast of eastern China, training for amphibious exercises on a small mockup. There wasnt very much room anyway to move on the real Diaoyutai, so the tight space was not very unrealistic.
Just confining.

The men, dressed in an Islandian digital-dot variation of the standard Chinese Marine camoflage, blended in well with the rocky, seaweed strewn terrain, and they were very hard to see as they darted amongst the slippery ground. The men were all armed with Simunition weapons, and were up against another group from Fifteenth Marine Brigade, Third Guards Assault, playing the defenders.

Damned war Kwai thought. He, like probably every other man in the Islandian forces stationed in East Asia, did not want to fight for the sake of a few rocks in the Pacific. Nonetheless, he did feel that Japan had wronged them by not allowing free fishing and other rights int he Diaoyutai, so taht was that.

Politics andwar was a complicated thing, Kwai knew. Best leave that to the generals.
