THE RUSSIANA INCIDENT

12-12-2003, 06:11
Genworks Minister of Defence, Tatsua Tanaka, rode back to Mars from the socialist conference in his Maako Shuttle. He had radio contact with Dictator Arlock's communicator back on Earth in Cav, and teletype communication with the Martian Nations.

From orbit he saw the area in which The Annabella Islands would soon occupy. Then a purple ray shot from the Martian Gallileo Valley and the Annabella islands appeared in the area.

It was the wormhole technology that the UN had given the Nations wanting to change reigons. Tanaka shook his head at the fact that Genworks' technology probably helped create the wormhole prototypes and allowed this Imperial Nation to escape.

Tanaka went to the comm console and tuned the teletype radio to the Genworks frequency.

TO: Viceroy Bill Arlock
FROM: MoD Tatsua Tanaka aboard Shuttle Alpha
What is the status of Russiana? I am coming back, your brother is staying in Cav. Earth Allies are organizing.
Find intelligence on Russiana's populace.

He pressed the send button and tuned to Mizjellybean frequencies.

TO: Queen Mizjellybean
FROM: MoD Tatsua Tanaka aboard Shuttle Alpha
What is your military stance on recent issues? Will you be moving to Earth with Annabella or staying in the Valley Alliance? Upon either event, you will be analyzed.

He then turned to Dominion of Counter-Utopia frequencies.

TO: President Conor Anderson
FROM: MoD Tatsua Tanaka aboard Shuttle Alpha
The Dictator wants to confirm our alliance firmly. Before we launch joint attack, nonagression pact must be signed. Open trade will begin and military alliance will proceed.

Finally he switched to both Fiefdom of Draconas's, the Dominion of the Dread Conglomerate's, and the PRLC's frequencies

TO: Fief Rachel Bird, Commander Ace Kaelton, Presdient Lindsay Coleman
FROM: MoD Tatsua Tanaka aboard Shuttle Alpha
Mobilized troops need better support and more proper command. Upon arrival I will meet with your Military Commanders, and will require a Draconian and Conglomerate translator.

He sighed and sat back down at his seat. After a few minutes of silence, the pilot, a Lt-Commander of the DGAF-SC, turned to Tanaka.

"Sir?" the Commander asked, "Permission to speak freely?"

"Granted"

"Why are we still attacking The Annabella Islands? If they're leaving then there's no coup, right? And if Russiana's leaving it's not our problem."

Tanaka sighed, "Well there won't be a coup, but I doubt the Annabellans have just given up. Arlock and Annabella are long enemies, and she's made a lot of other leaders angry. Besides, letting Imperialism go like that is immoral, a crime like that is something we can't let slide. Russiana has a long history and fantastic culture, which we need to restore. Annabella's culture is being imposed on them, apparently unwillingly seeing as they don't even know it's happening.

"Not only that, but Annabella's trying to sell her vast amount of Uranium to private industry, as reported by DCU's Industry Experts... I guess having a Plutocracy has its benefits..."

"Well..." The pilot looked disconcerted, "I really don't think we should go to war without purpose."

"I know," Tanaka said, "but Russiana's lack of freedom is just a token of Annabella's violations of our beliefs. If we can make a stand here, we can stop a growing country from growing in the wrong direction."

"I don't agree whole-heartedly," the Pilot said, "But I see your point."

"As it should be."

Carfy only has a few low speed shuttles for deploying satellites. We regret that we cannot help you in that area.

However, like the President of Briandom offered, we have a mighty navy that we can use to take care of any Earth-borne matters.

Two SF-500 Firehawks approached the Genworks ship. They opened a frequency to the shuttle.

"Minister Tanaka, this is Captain Charles Hardy of Cav's Imperial Space Agency. We have orders to escort you to Mars and then to confer with your forces on the current situation. We will take up our positions on your port and starboard."

Captian Zaitsev, of the HSC Sickle of the Proletariat was reading the news report from Hattia. He looked up from reading and saw the sensorman standing in front of him. "Yes?" The man saluted "Genworks ship on the screen sir!" Zaitsev stood up and walked over the the radioman. "Hail the Genworks ship and open up a comm channel with them." The radioman fiddled with his stuff for a few moments. "Got it sir." Zaitsev walked over to the microphone "Genworks Vessel, this is Captain Zaitsev of the HSC (Hattian Space Craft) Sickle of the Proletariat we have recieved reports, and if you would like we can escort you to Mars..."

The Pilot played the messages from the Cav and Hattian ships.

"Get the radio ready," Tanaka said, and the Pilot dialed back the frequency. When it was locked in, Tanaka picked up the reciever and held it to his ear.

"Allied Ships, we greatly appreciate your help. There are some basic orders that are part of Genworks' Code Of Honor, in our constitution:

1) No civilian bloodshed shall take place, the only excuse being accident or ignorance. Any civillian deaths shall be investigated and are punishable in our country by expulsion from the country with identity erased and no supplies.

2) All CICs in an allied attack must confer and none shall be above the other in the concerns of allied attack, and all tactical movements of combined forces must be unanimous agreement of all CICs whose country's forces are involved. However, any country's armed forces divison may leave the combined forces and take an attack pattern not condoned by the others.

We humbly ask that you follow these guidelines and send these to all other nations to be helping in the attack. However, for tactical reasons, these orders shall not be allowed outside of the allies countries. If a country we were attacking knew we would not kill civillians or had to have unanimous vote to take action, they would certainly use it to thier advantage."

TO: Minister of Defense Tatsua Tanaka
FROM: DCU Corporate Headquarters

The man who appears on screen is dressed in a grey suit, with gold lapels and tie tack. He wears a simple wedding band on his left hand. HIs face is shadowed and no features can be made out. His voice is clipped, precise, and betrays just a tiny bit of annoyance.

"This is VPO Johnson, speaking for CPO Anderson. You will of course receive our military aid, what we can provide, and whatever financial aid you require, that is allotted by our Review Committee. The nonagression pact will be signed as soon as mutually convenient.

Be seeing you."

The image vanishes, without any time to respond.

Tanaka shook his head at the DCU message.

"Not the same Mr Johnson I spoke to last time. Aren't ALL the VPOs Johnson?"

"Well according to the Genworks Times' Tabloid section they're all clones," the pilot said.

Tanaka rolled his eyes, "I don't know why we keep those writers around."

"Amusement," The pilot smiled, "Besides, they get payed very few Luxury Rangs."

Tanaka laughed and turned off the visual radio, turning back to the teletype.

TO: Viceroy Bill Arlock
FROM: MoD Tanaka on Shuttle Alpha
The DCU Soldiers have organised and are prepared to board the CC-2s. The VPO seems to have given us direct control over the troops, which is a bit disturbing, but is what you get when allied with a Plutocracy. FROM: DCU Flagship Jupiter

The man who's face appears on the screen is about 40 years old, with close-cropped blonde hair and green eyes set deep in their sockets. He is dressed in the navy blue uniform of a DCU officer. Three gold triangles line his lapels.

"Greetings Minister. I am Arthur Golden, Commander of the Counter-Utiopian troops. Remind me again -why- we are going to war? Is it just to free Rusiana from the yoke of Annabellan imperialism? Instead of this rash action, why don't we simply demand that the Annabellans withdraw? With our combined forces, they cannot possibly hope to stand against us. I have already taken the liberty of wiring a message to the Empress asking for concessions and her surrender.

Be seeing you."

Tanaka shook his head, "Damned Counter-Utopians never stick around for a response, do they?"

Tanaka readied the teletype:

TO: Commander Arthur Golden on the DCU Flagship Jupiter
FROM: MoD Tatsua Tanaka on Shuttle Alpha
We do not want a shooting war, if that is what you're asking. The troops are a show of force so that when we enter Russiana the HEAI shadow government will either surrender or leave. If HEAI troops wish to stop us from entering, we will not hesitate to eliminate them, but minumum, if any, casualites are the goal.

Dictator Arlock has already demanded the Empress pull her spies out of Russiana, but to only be answered by devensive excuses and claims that it was none of our buisness, when indeed the Imperialists might have overthrown the Valley's Alliance.

"Greetings once again, Minister. We have received your message and agree heartily. I hope to be joining you in the near future, yes?"

The Genworks ship landed at DG International Airport, leaving the excorts in orbit to confer with the DG and DCU Ships.

Viceroy Bill Arlock, John Arlock's twin brother, came to meet a sleep-deprived Tanaka.

"Tatsua," Bill said, "you look bushed, and Russiana's not going anywhere, take a rest!"

"What do you mean it's not..." Tanaka held in his hand a report saying that Russiana intended to leave with The Annabella Islands.

"I've never heard that before!" Bill shook his head, "where'd you get that?"

"My own office," Tanaka said, "someone must have..."

"The Imperialists are feeding our troops false information, I suppose," Bill sighed, and turned to his secretary, a strapping French-Canadian man with red hair and a beard, "Run a Level 5 Security Check on all transmissions logged on the DGAF and DGPP Frequencies, and verify the sender. When you've isolated this transmission, figure out whose identity code was used, and if they're legit then have thier contacts analyzed."

Bill turned back to Tanaka, "So we don't need the Spacecraft, then?"

"Oh, they'll still be a huge asset. As long as the Russianans still don't know about our laws preventing civilian casualty, they will fear our ships. Plus we now have more allied troops. And they also will be able to stop any HEAI troops attempting to land."

Sub-Minister Louise Kim ran up, "Sirs! Our troops are prepared to move out. Maako FC-1, BC-1, and CC-2 squadrons are prepared to move out. Hammerhead Tank Divisons 1-4 are at the front lines, and the Black-Tipped Chopper Squadron is loading up as we speak."

"Great," Tanaka said, "get me a Jeep, I'm moving out with the Hammerheads."
16-12-2003, 03:23
A Yuan-class shuttle lands about twenty feet away from the two men as they talk. Once the small, streamlined ship completes all the landing procedures. Three figures walk down the ramp and onto the landing strip. There are two tall burly men and one petite woman. They are all dressed in identical navy blue suits. Four golden triangles line the woman's lapels, while only two adorn the men's.

"Greetings Minister and Viceroy. I am VPO Johnson. I am here to supervise Counter-Utopia's interests in this endeavor."
17-12-2003, 02:54
"Ah, excellent," Tanaka said, "I'm the Theatre Organizer. I'll give you a rundown of the troops Genworks and the PRLC have:

"Genworks foot-soldiers for this operation number at 4,540,000, as half of our troops act as the police force and we keep 900,000 in reserve. We divide them into 20 Units and each Unit has 2 Hammerhead Tanks at thier disposal.

"Our Artillery Division has 2,000 Hammerhead Tanks, divided into four units. Two units will be mobilizing immediately, and in the case of reinforcements we will have the other two on standby.

"Our Wing Division has three Commands: Fighter, Bomber, and Carrier. The Carrier Command will be integrated with the foot-soldiers for this mission, to cover distance faster. Fighter Command has 6 Wings of 9 Craft each. Bomber Command has 4 Wings of 3 Craft each. We don't expect to be actually dropping bombs, but the respective commands will be launched for fly-by salutes.

"The PRLC has given us minimal troops, mostly foot-soldiers. They have just enough to represent 4 Units, each with one tank."

The Viceroy's Secretary returned with a telegram, which Arlock read.

"It seems a country with which we have no relations, The Armed Republic of Ginsbur, has declared that they will defend Russiana."

"Aren't they from Earth?" Tanaka asked

"We'll they're from the Ira Sima Leauge, right up next to the HEAI."

"Well.... they're gonna have a hell of a time getting over here, aren't they?"
19-12-2003, 05:44
The VPO taps a well-manicured fingernail against the clipboard which one of her bodyguards had just handed to her. She rustles through the papers loudly, with brow furrowed.

"Counter-Utopian troops for this operation number 6 units, each with two tanks, and a single wing of fighters, occampanied by three bombers. I hope this is enough?" She looks up, and the gleam in her eyes makes it amply clear that it is -certainly- enough.

The troops boarded the large battlecruisers. The Interplanetary Tactical Forces (space marines) were deployed to Mars to assist Genworks in whatever way possible.

Five thousand troops checked in and headed to their quarters on the two large ships. The Moroni Class Battlecruisers lifted off from their giant landing pads at Cav's Imperial Space Agency HQ. Emperor Cav had an interest in this situation, as it would be a new way to test out the new laser pulse infantry rifles, the ASLR-14 Ravager.

Generals Richard Pointer (CINC ISA) and George Jackson (Commander, ITF) were on the SF-500 fleet flagship, The Victory. They would confer with Genworks' generals and administrators about what kind of assistance they could render.

Cruising at 1,000,000 m/s, it would take a good 15 hours to reach the Martian colony of Genworks, but the situation was not dire and the troops needed their rest. Although they didn't see the mission as being difficult, they didn't know what their jobs would be yet. Perhaps it would just be a nice shore leave.

**********
The Victory reached orbit with the battlecruisers lagging a bit. It would be easier for the smaller flagship to find a good landing place, but putting two half-mile long ships on the ground might be a problem if the proper facilities were not in place. The colonels commanding each ship radioed for any open areas to land in. Otherwise the shuttles would have to transport the soldiers to the planet.

The battlecruisers housed 12 orbital bombers each, as well as 16 interceptors in case things got a little hairy in the sky. They hopefully wouldn't be needed though.

The generals waited as The Victory requested permission to land.

In orbit above Mars

Captain Zaitsev read the news reports in his office, he pressed the intercom button, "Private, please notify Genworks, that if they would like, we can send out our bombers to attack targets for them."

Tanaka boarded a Base Jeep, a large-scale vehichle with an internal miniature War room.

The seven comm posts were ringing off the hook, all stationed with Privates who were armed with every order that Tanaka had issued so far

"Russiana is still not responding to us. We must be on thier radar by now, we've sent two scout choppers over.... Yes General Lavigne, try again..."

"Tell Captain Zaitsev that the Bombers are welcome to join our BC1 Wing Command.... Yes, we will be issuing the maps soon..."

"Ship Victory, you have the tactical decision between two landing spots. When the maps are issued, inform us and we can prepare to integrate the troops."

"Dread Conglomerate, respond. Commander Kaelton, where are you? The terms of alliance... what? You're breaking up! What's going on over there?"

"Fief Bird, why have you pulled your troops out? .... Well I suppose that's understandable. We don't want a civil war. As long as you're sure."

"VPO Johnson, we will be sending out maps shortly.... yes yes, we recieved you strategies. They have been noted on the maps."

The final Private turned to Tanaka.

"Sir," she said, "Dictator Arlock on the VidScreen."

"Patch him through."

Arlock appeared on the screen, the small television brimming with static when the Jeep hit a bump.

"Tatsua," John Arlock said, "I hope you and Bill have everything under control?"

"Yes sir," Tanaka saluted, "I don't expect any bloodshed. So far the Russianans have shown no interest in us. We're expecting a message from the Duchess Triandafilou and Lord Wangerin of Russiana, but so far they have zero military activity."

"Well, I suppose I should monitor your activity," Arlock said, "but you've always been the military man. Good luck to you, Tatsua."

"Sir," the private said, "another message, this one in teletype. It's from the Duchess and Lord."

"Read it" Tanaka said, pulling up the readout maps on the computer.

The private pulled out the piece of paper from the Teletype and read it off: "You know what? Rape and pillage and kill my people. I don't care."

"My god," Tanaka said, "what kind of leader says that? The Imperialists must have killed her spirit. In the last meeting I was in with her, she and her husband had nothing but excitement and pride."

"The Generals are waiting," A Private said.

"Send them these maps," Tanaka said:

These are the possible landing spots for any spaceborne troops. Judging by thier cargo, they can land closest to where they will be needed.

http://www.freewebs.com/dj_elcapitan/a1.JPG
This is where our artillery is going. If anyone has purely artillery units, we suggest a higher ratio of flanking. The ones in the forward positions will hold thier positions on the border until further commands.

http://www.freewebs.com/dj_elcapitan/f1.JPG
Foot Soldier units, with thier Tanks, will be moving in this flanking manner. The forward Artillery will draw attention so that when the flanking Footsoldiers and Artilleries move in it'll take them by surprise.

http://www.freewebs.com/dj_elcapitan/w1.JPG
Flybys by the respective wing commands will cause confusion amongst the possible militia groups and definitely cause a scare amongst the Imperialist spies. No bombs are to be dropped and no shots to be fired unless in self-defence.

"And finally," Tanaka said to the comm officers, "If and when we find a military compound, we will occupy it but not kill anyone unless they put up resistance, at which you will secure the premise at all costs. The same goes for when we reach the Duchess's palace."

The troops prepared themselves for fighting. Equipped with their new laser weapons, the men were to flank Russania from the western side, right next to the Genworks' troops.

The turtle walker drivers geared up and checked their vehicles for any problems. They would be interspersed with the ground troops, providing air and land defenses.

The orbital bombers left the docking bays of the battlecruisers to go on their runs when the orders were given. The cruisers themselves covered the air above the troop placements.

All of the forces would be ready to go when the order was given.

Too bad too, I wanted to try out my laser weapons.
