United Front Condemnation of the International Fair Trade Agreement put forth by the Coalition of Anti-Capitalist Economies
While the nations of the United Front agree with the fundamentals of IFTA, we must point out a most egregious error that prevents us from being signatories to the document. The preamble states, "we invite nations of any economic model, capitalist and non-capitalist alike, who with us refuse to treat labour as a resource to be exploited, upholding instead the rights and welfare of the labourer, to create and maintain a growing economic alliance based on fair trade and worker rights." How is this to be done when capitalist nations are included in the trade agreement?
As Marx points out in his treatise on the origins of capital, the exploitation of labor is the source of all profit. Without profit, there can be no capitalism. So as the IFTA strives to eliminate exploitation, it effectively furthers it by trading with capitalist nations. For this reason, United Front refuses to support the IFTA and any capitalist nation and condemns both for promoting the further degradation of the working class.
