New rifle under development

The Empire of Kajiraki Army Special Weapons Center has begun development of a new heavy anti-personel weapon. Seeing the world is full of troops wearing power armor, and nations equping there troops like walking tanks, it was decided that a heavy rifle must be developed in order to defend against such threats to the Empire.

The weapon, designated the Type 100 Sniper Rifle, uses a revolutionary idea that requires no physical bullets to be carried by the operator. Nicknamed the 'Mercury Bow', the rifle fires a super cooled bolt of mercury that can pierce all but the most solid of objects, and even then some. Death is caused either by the trauma from the force of impact, or subsequent mercury poisoning of the target. Each rifle can fire 15 rounds before needing to be recharged, which can be done in the field. The Empire is still developing the weapon, and is looking for partners in development.

I will assist on your project, simply out of curiosity.

Excellent. We have finsihed developing the firing mechanism, however, our current snag is how to launch the bolt of Mercury at high enough velocities to cause significant damages to armored troops.

Bump.

A mercury filled projectile may be the only way to go, unless you keep this to an extreme short-range weapon. As I see it, if it fires a stream of liquid, it will only have the power and volocity of a squirt-gun. So projectiles would work much better, even though you don't want them. If it is a sniper's weapon, then the amount of rounds needed should be less.

The mercury is solid, as each 'bolt' is super cooled before firing.

I would like to help in this project, let me know any way I can help.

Help us figure out how to fire the bolt of mercury at speeds high enough to create damage to those on the recieving end without causing the bolt to revert to a liquid state.

I think you could likely get away with a compact cross bow system you could get decent power from a narrow bow if you have enough tension and with the power needed to super cool mercury then you could probabaly power and automatic winder.

For our super cooling needs, we use a Takatanium reaction, which drops the bolt to near absolute zero. this will provide a very cold projectile, which will freeze the area around impact and slowly leach heat from the surrounding area, dropping biological creatures to a fatal point in minutes, as well as freezing vital components of vehicles. That might be your best bet, as the Takatanium reaction is nearly instantanius, and a single Takatanium pellet would allow for several thousand shots to be forzen before it needed replacing.

Yeah, I think you should go with that. But if the bolt does not revert to liquid, how can it be sure that the target will get the mercury poisoning? I was under the understanding that the mercury should be in liqiud form for the poisoning to take form.

Taka- Can the reactor be recharged in the field, as per the the requirments? And how large of a projectile can be frozen? You mentioned pellets.

Kamrad Stalin will donate 10 Million dollars to the future devolpment of this weapon.
Kamrad Stalin of course would like something in return.

While all help given is appriciated, we have finished development of the rifle, and it is currently in the testing stages.
Kamrad Stalin
11-12-2003, 18:27
Well then I shall donate 6 Million dollars for testing and will help test the rifle.
11-12-2003, 18:29
I can give you 5 of my many arms manufacturing plants for the further manufacturing in exchange for 25 million of these rifles and 10 crated of ammunition accompanying each rifle.

I don't like this weapon really. It isn't Humain at all and does it cause the victim of the rifle much pain? The UN could get sucpicous of this weapon and its capabilities....

Thanks Comrade.

Komrad Stalin-Thanks, but no thanks...personel reasons

HeynA-Your offer is noted, although it is a bit high, and a bit one sided, considering we could produce this rife in one of OUR many arms manufacturing facilities for free.

Ok, but just an early warning, it wont be sold in mass quantities.
11-12-2003, 19:21
Ok, but just an early warning, it wont be sold in mass quantities. What do you consider mass? I have a special ops group of 3 million and would like to make 750,000 of them specially trained for this rifles use.
13-12-2003, 00:40
You don't seem keen on selling these, but would you acept 1 million for 1000 rifles
