President Sutton gave the following brief television address to the world:

"Due to increasing global threats from nations proliferating nuclear weapons, Credonia wants no part of giving possible enemies the power to destroy nations for self serving reasons. And due to its position in the international community, we must set an example for smaller nations, therefore I Kaimoni .A. Sutton President of the United States of Credonia will cease the sales of our Minuteman III ICBM, Freedom ICBM and Desolator MRV ICBM's. We urge all other nations to stop selling these weapons of mass destruction to bring about a more peaceful world. This policy will go into effect indefinitly on 12/8/2003 at 12 pm EST (RL time). Thank you."

This is great news, Kravoli is very anti-nuclear and while we not endorse the use of nuclear weapons we have no problems with nuclear power planst if used only for power and medical reasons.

How much would you want for the disarmed missiles? As we cannot afford a space program from scratch, we could use some affordable means of launching our satellites.

the missiles are not viable for spaceflight, however, the Credonian Space Agency could sell you a rocket that is specifically for the purpose of launching satellites and other payloads into space. Its the Delta IV. We can sell them individually where you have to have the facilities in order to launch the rocket, or we could launch satellites for you at a cheaper price. Check out the credonian website for more information: http://www.geocities.com/credonia/

After disbanding most of our military, we were left with several billion dollars.

I'm offering $400 million for the purchase and launch of two (2) Delta IV rockets. The other will carry a surveillance satellite and the other a research satellite to study the upper atmosphere.

ok, just to make sure were straight on this, you want the Credonian space agency to launch 2 rockets for you carrying your payloas, or you are just buying the rockets, and you will launch them yourself?

We have no launch facilities, so you'd have to provide them. Can this be arranged?

yes, alright order confirmed, we'll get back to you within the next 12 RL hours with launch information. Pictures of the entire launch to orbit sequence will be provided for you along with orbital data and things of that nature.

OOC: most ICBMs can reach orbit altitude...

Right you are, but their payloads are limited. The equipment we're launching is quite sizeable.

We applaud the decision of President Sutton and the nation of Credonia, and all who help prevent the sales and distribution of weapons of mass destruction to politically immature and/or dangerous nations.

We also respect this decision and hope that other nuclear powers follow the example.

Note that i am the Head director of the Virtual United States Space Program, an online virtual space agency that works with NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration- The REAL organization) so any comment i make about spaceflight or space in general is 9 times out of ten, right. Despite my age of 17, ive got about 10 years of knowledge backing me up ;-) As it was states, ICBM's can reach orbit altitude, they must otherwise they cant be intercontinental, however, their payload capabilities are minimized and MOST ICBM's are optomized for launching warheads only. You would need to completely change the systems of an ICBM to make it a launch vehicle, as NASA did in the 1960's with the Titan ICBM which was turned into the Gemini Titan launch vehicle for the Gemini program. Same goes for NASA's Mercury Atlas rocket which was developed out of the Atlas ICBM in the 60's as well as a precursor to the Gemini Program. http://www.vussp.org

Were not disarming. Were just ceasing the sales of nuclear weapons. The disarmament will begin once the nuclear arms summit is over, thats when we will be limited to the number of nukes we possess

As our economy is recovering from the recent slow-down, we look forward to future business with the Credonian Space Agency. At the moment, we have very limited self-sufficiency in instrument manufacturing. If possible, we would like to send some of our engineering students to Credonia. They would observe launches and receive some on-the-spot training.
Although the Commonwealth is dedicated to non-violence, there is a healthy arms industry. If Credonia is interested in an academic exchange, we could share some of our know-how in imaging and targeting systems. They are designed for extreme distances and have world-class accuracy.

We applaus this move.
