VERIDONIA F.D., Veridon (AP) - In a televised press conference, the President of Veridon, Michael Girardi, announced his intentions to form a new anti-terrorist task force. "With the recent attempt on the life of one of our allies, a threat, previously ignored, was realized. I must also mention the relief that hit me once the news of the survival of President Kaimoni Sutton," President Girardi is quoted as saying.
The taskforce to be formed will consist of 100 of Veridon's elite armed forces. "The mission of this taskforce will be to prevent international terrorism from reaching a level threatening to the citizens of Veridon," President Girardi said in the press conference. The taskforce will be deployed to any region deemed neccissary by Congress. This task force will also have the burden of protecting the senior members of the executive branch.
In the same press conference, President Girardi also announced his intentions to donate Veridon's 476th Carrier division to the IADF Reaction Force. The IADF Reaction Force was given authorization to form itself on December 7th, 2003. The nations of Isochronous, Kihameria, and United Elias have assigned over 25,000 troops to the IADF task force and more troops are expected.
President Girardi concluded his speech in saying, "It is time that we, as a nation, stand firmly behind the commitment we have made to protect this world from terrorism in any form whether that form of terrorism be committed by a nation or a rogue group. No longer are we to stand for killing and no longer are we going to stand by and watch as our allies are murdered in cold blood!"
