In the Senate Chambers:

Senator Fergerson (Defense): "It is time that we once and for all re-unite the country. For too long we have stood by and allowed the south to remain under their horrible dictatorship, which had risen up from the cold/civil war."

Senator Lennwick (Intelligence): "Sir, with great respect of course, exactly how do you propose to do this? NSA reports show that South Austar has control over two nuclear missiles, and an infantry comprised of sixty-million monkeys - specially trained for combat"

Senator Fergerson (Defense): "Well as you may or may not know Senator, our power infustructure is still networked with the south, so if we were to say, cut off their power supply, there would be wide-spread blackouts in the south."

Senator Lennwick (Intelligence): "Senator Fergerson, I believe that will not cut the power to their missile facility. Our facilities are always provided with a back-up generator, you know that. They have already warned us that if anything major happens they will reign nuclear devestation upon our cities."

Senator Fergerson (Defense): "I would like to present to the Senate a dossier conatining the information which our military stategists have put together."

[Dossier gets handed out to Senators]

Senator Fergerson (Defence): "I would like to point out that this plan is pretty much fail-proof. It would however be a fast operation, but I think our teams can handle it, re-uniting the nation once and for all."

Senator Newport (Foreign Minister): [while looking over the dossier] "That is unless another nation decides to step in and protect southern soveriegnty."

Senator Fergerson: "They have no right to soveriegnty! They are a part of us! They are not an independant nation! Idiot..."

Speaker of the House: "Senator Fergerson, the Senate was created ofr discussion, not vicious slandering. You are given your first of three warnings!"

Senator Newport (Foriegn Minister): "Senator Fergerson, although that is how we view the situation, the international community may in fact recognise southern independance. If they choose to take action, we do not want our international reputation tarnished. Nor do we want to get involved in a war against a multi-national coalition."

Senator Fergerson (Defense): "Certainly sir, that is why you are here Mr. Senator. It is your department's job to notify the world of our intentions."

Speaker of the House: "Are there any more comments on this issue?"

[Only silence can be heard in the Senate]

Speaker of the House: "Motion to vote."

[All 150 Senators vote on their touch-screens and the results are tabled on a large projector]

Speaker of the House: "95 vote yes, 55 vote no. Proposal passed. Motion to notify the President"

...

At the President's Office

[The phone begins to ring]

Presidential Secretary: "Hello, President's Office?"
Senate Negotiator: "Fax direct to President from the Senate please."
Presidential Secretary: "Yes sir."

[The secretary dials a number on her phone]

[Inside the President's Office, President William A. Sherman is sitting at his dek eating lunch when the phone buzzes]

Presidential Secretary: "Sorry to interrupt you sir. Fax direct from the Senate."
President Sherman: "Don't worry Noreen, I was getting bored anyway. Send it through"
Presidential Secretary: "Yes sir."

[The President leans over as his fax machine prints out the proposal made by the senate to re-take the south. He picks it up and reads it]

President Sherman: "It's about time they decided to address this issue. Hmmm, seems OK to me..."

[He picks up his pen and signs the dotted line, authorising the event to take place, and sends it back to the senate chambers.]

In the capital of South Austar

It is midnight, and due to newly enforced curfews, the city sleeps soundly. the whole city appears to be lit up completly, and almost appears to be beautiful. All of a sudden, the lights across the city brighten up. Explosions can be heard all over the city as a massive power surge rips throughout the entire national power network. Just as suddenly, all the lights and power short out, and the whole of South Austar is left without electricity, and multiple blown power control boards.

ooc: You can join the RP if you want, just always remember that South Austar is actually me, just under a different name for RP reasons.

At the South Austar Power Contol Center:

"Get this power up and running!" yells the main supervisor, "I dont want a national emergency to be declared over a massive power failure, especially when I'm on supervision!"

The head technician runs into the main control center, "Sir, we have a problem. My technician crews are reporting that the entire national grid is down! It was caused my a massive power surge, unparralled in history. This isnt natural...it will take weeks to repair..."

The main supervisor looks at him, "Are you saying this was deliberate? My god....Johnny, notify the military..."

...

At the South Austar Armed Force HQ

"What the hell is going on? I'm getting reports from every military facility has been disconnected from electricity. Not even my god-damn generators are working..." Complains General Manatissis

"Sir, the SAPCC is reporting that the grid is down due to a deliberate power surge..." reports the official SAAF Secretary.

"Holy jesus mother of god...give me one good reason why i shouldnt send in the military..."

"Sir, Dictator Norman McFerson is on line two..."

Meanwhile, in the skies...

"HQ to Falcon Bomber One, name your status..."
....
"Falcon Bomber One, we are about to cross the border..."
...
"Eagle 355 to HQ, we have a visual on M-F 1, we await clearence to begin operations"
"HQ to Falcon Bomber One, roger"
....
"HQ to Eagle 355, hold your position..."
"Eagle 355 to HQ, roger that"

Somewhere just inside the South Austar border

Dark shapes move through the jungle, pausing from time to time at even the breaking of a twig. Only the sounds of the jungle can be heard, when all of a sudden, a deafening roar begins to fade into the skies, and seems to come closer before fading way again. The jungle is left as it was, and once again, the shapes contine to make their way deep into South Austar territory.

There seems to be a new explosion every 5 seconds..[Ka-boom]..., and it not yet known what is happening....hey..[Ka-boom]...why are we bothering to do this...nobody has enough...[Ka-boom]...power to power their TV's...."

7 Hours later, when the sun begins to rise:

All is quiet, and the sun rises as usual. It would be a normal day in South Austar if it weren't for the huge plooms of smoke rising from the ground. There isnt a sound across the nation, except for the secondary explosions, and the screams of those caught in the blasts.

At the AU Armed Forces HQ

"Sir, Phase One is complete", said Commander John Pilkes
"Good, good" replied General Kosgrove, "Commence Phase Two."
"Yes sir!" answered the Commander
08-12-2003, 07:21
At the SA Armed Forces HQ

"Sir, our forces are cut by half! Our two missiles have been destroyed by the bombing raids!" Reported Commander Jiles Viven
"Damn that AU government! Get Dictator McFerson on the horn!" Replied General Manatissis
"Yes sir..."

[The commander picks up the phone and dials the Dictators number, handing the earpiece to the general]

Dictator McFerson: "General, I want explanations now! What the hell is going on down there!? I'm on a plane outta here!"

The General: "Sir, the AUstar Union has made its move. The attack was so unexpected, we were powerless to stop them!

The Dictator: "So what are you going to do now?"

The General: "I plan to....surrender sir..."

The Dictator: "Negative, you will fight to the death."

The General: "No sir! [he hangs up the phone] Commander, get me General Kosgrove. I want to surrender..."

The recently completed Carrier, Ardennes, has completed its trials and has been stocked with its compliment of aircraft is the closest Aequatian unit in proximity to your nation. Should Dictator McFerson of South Austar choose to flee from his nation and escape prosecution by Austar Union authorities, we would be willing to use our own naval aircraft to capture and apprehend the fugitive leader. With the permission, of course, of your nation's government.

Bridge of the Carrier, Ardennes.

A radar operator looked over his monitor and noticed that an aircraft was not broadcasting a proper IFF signal.

"Ma'am, you may want to have a look at this." said the operator.

Captain Smyth walked over to the station and looked over the monitor, she then walked over to the radio and contacted the launch deck chief. "Masterson, get a pair of F-35s in the air, we have a bogey on radar and this may be what we've been sent to capture, over."

"Yes Ma'am, I'm on it." came the reply, "Masterson Out."

Within 8 minutes, the planes were shot off the flight deck and in the air on an intercept course to the unknown aircraft.

(OOC: Hope you don't mind if I butt in...?)

Over international waters, near Austar Union

The Gulfstream V business jet continued on its course back to Ferrussia. Owned by yet another snobby millionaire who had recently been exploring his overseas holdings, he had made the oversight of getting a rather inexperienced pilot.

The pilot, who was only relatively sure of their heading back towards Ferrussia, was doing his best to cope with his incredibly wracked nerves.

"Let's see... this switch... identification broadcast... shouldn't that be off? Or on... dang it! Can't remember... WOAH!!! Drifting left... calm down... I've got to calm down..."

He made a guess and switched the identification broadcast switch off. Just then, the grossly maintained radio shorted out.

"HOLY CRAP!" yelled the pilot, so loud that one of the attendants to the small business jet came up to the cockpit.

"What now!?" she asked impatiently.

"The radio's gone out!" he cried. "Check the storage hold for a spare..."

Muttering to herself, the attendant walked out.

What have I gotten myself into? he thought to himself. He was quite oblivious to the pair of fighters closing on his position.

(OOC: In case you hadn't already figured, I'm setting up the possiblity of mistakenly thinking the plane is the Dictator's. Respond to it as you like. Or just ignore me altogether. :) )

The blimp on the rader continues to move as an AU squadron races towards their target:

"HQ to Eagle 969, state your position..."
"Eagle 969 to HQ, we are 5km from target and closing. We are expected to meet them in 30 seconds."
"HQ to Eagle 969, roger that"

The pilot of the Gulfstream V looked nervously out the cabin window, and to his astonishment, noticed several fighters - all armed.

"Oh... my..."

Panicking, he pulled the aircraft to the right, trying to steer himself away from the fighters.

"What do they want from me!?"

The fighters close in slowing down to the speed of the plane, surrounding it.

"This is unit Eagle 969 from the Austar Union Air Force. You will comply with our orders. Follow us to base NOW."

...

"HQ to Eagle 969, break formation. Two fighters to remain with the target. The rest to return to base."
...
"Roger that."

For a second, he thought he heard something over the radio... but nothing decipherable. The pilot motioned out the window to the pilots that he had no radio - not that it was likely to be visible.

"Let it be a mistake!" he plead.

The Gulfstream continued to bank right, and thus made no indication of a flight path. Meanwhile, the pilot was desperately trying to figure out what to do, while his fate was in the hands of the fighter pilots.

The two Navy F-35 fighters flew in a tight formation as they closed on the bogey discovered by the carrier's air search radar.

"Ardennes, this is Swordfish 1, onboard radar has picked up the unknown aircraft. Over"

"Swordfish 1, ETA to intercept with unknown aircraft? Over."

"Uh... 3 minutes. Over."

"Roger that Swordfish 1, Ardennes out."

The fighters hit their afterburners and sped off towards the bogey, once they reached missile weapon range, the radar showed that the bogey split into three seperate parts... two of which were speeding towards the fighters.

"Ardennes, need a reading on the bogies, we see three of them now. Over"

"Swordfish 1, they must have been flying on top of each other, radar shows that the two on an intercept course with you are MiG-21 fighters... while the slower one is a private jet... what we're here to get. Over."

"Ardennes, request permission to engage enemy fighters. Over."

"Permission granted, but don't fire upon the slower target, Ardennes out."

The first F-35 pulled up to distract the MiG's as the second F-35 then got a radar lock on one of the MiG-21s and fired off a Sidewinder missile and watched as it streaked off towards it. Radar showed that the missile was true to its target as the MiG disappeared off the screen.

The second MiG then fired off one of its missiles towards the first F-35, however, the pilot saw this and deployed chaff and the missile streaked by at a comfortable distance from him. The second F-35 locked on to the second MiG and did the same as he did with the first, when it was all said and done, the F-35 fighters then moved back into formation to intercept the slower aircraft and bring it back to an Austar Union airbase.

OOC: Are we at the same target, coz if we are then you are firing on me!

IC:
"Damn, this guy isnt listening", said Pilot 1
"Try again," replied Pilot 2
Pilot 1: "I am broadcasting this message for a second time. You will comply, and follow us to our base."

"We cant exactly do anything you know, we are in international airspace." said Pilot 2.

OOC: Sorry about the generic names. i cant be stuffed being that creative right now...

OOC: I'm following a different target. The real one.

IC:

The F-35 fighters flew up beside the Cessna twin prop airplane, which was flying at a relatively low cruising speed and in a straight line.

"Swordfish 1 to Ardennes, we have made contact with unknown aircraft, it fits the description of the aircraft that the satellites picked up leaving a South Austar airstrip. Contact Austar Union command and inform them of the find. Over."

"Roger that Swordfish 1, Ardennes out."
