Catholisism is now considered cult in Islamaisbad

08-12-2003, 04:59
NEW POLL HAS REVEALED:

Agnostic 99.999%
Atheist .001%

No more catholics!!!
08-12-2003, 05:14
At least spell it correctly, you dolt.

After the results of the latest census, we have concluded that Islmaisbad is, above all, a realistic and cynical nation. We have here the proportions of citizens in religions:
Atheism: 99.999119%
Agnosticism .001%
Catholisism .0000000001%
With the minority of .0000000001%, Catholisism is now considered a cult. Stay tuned.

Since Islamisbad has a population of just over three hundred million, it is patently impossible to have a tenth of a billion of the population Catholic. Additionally, 99.999119 + 0.001 + 0.0000000001 = 100.0001190001. Since you claim to have statistical techniques so accurate as to discriminate at the one-in-ten-billion range, how can it be that you make errors above the one-in-ten-thousand range?

And what is your point?

Firstly I second the thoughts of The Phoenix Milita
Secondly my population is 934 million not "slightly over three hundered million",
Thirdly, some people professed that they held partial beliefs in the catholic religion, followed commandments etc, while others did not, this was taken into account with the analyisis

And lastly I copy pasted from another poor speller's post

That was a typo that went unnoticed, apologies.

And 'partial belief'? How do you measure that? A hundreth of a faith? How can you tell that hundreth comes from the Catholic faith, and not from some incredibly similar religion?

I was being mathematical about things because (a) it only takes three seconds to do elementary arithmetic, and (b) I concluded that your point was not being made with any seriousness, but simply as a preamble to the final phrase, and I replied in this vein. You do this yourself again by making a statement that is clearly nonsense, sic. 'partial beliefs... taken into account with the analysis.'

In that light, I ask once more, what was your point, and to that I add, what the does my life have to do with anything? I am evidently alive, surely this is enough for you. It's a mystifying non-sequitur.

This attack on Catholicism by Islamaisbad will not go unpunished. Islamisbad must apologise within 48 hours or face military intervention from Isochronous.

The catholic who lives in Islamaisbad has been banished from our borders and sent to walk across the desert, hopfully he will make it to Jordan or Iran but we are taking bets on the internet that he won't make it.
Now there are no cultists in Islamaisbad.

From: Howard Greer, Prime Minister of Aiera
To: <multiple recipient nations>

The Commonwealth of Aiera, being a predominantly Catholic nation, views this matter with some concern, and as such states formally that it will intervene through a variety of channels, if necessary, should any persecutorial actions be direected by the government of Islamisbad towards the Catholic minority population of that nation.

In all fairness, however, until any such injustice is observed, Aiera will (in the interests of the greater peace that benefits us all) intervene to prevent non-diplomatic (read: military) actions against Islamisbad. As yet, this nation has merely declared that it has a minority Catholic population...which is not exactly news in a global sense, given that many nations can make a similar claim.

We would submit, however, that it takes something more substantial than a mere minority status to proclaim and religion a cult. The determination of cult status cannot be restricted to within one's own borders. Certainly, we do not regard our minority Jewish and Muslim populations as "cults", and we would expect a similar modicum of decency from all nations who wish to contribute constructively to peace and harmony in this world.

Sincerely,
Howard Greer, Prime Minister of Aiera

Greenwich Green's population is over 90% Catholic, and also views this issue with great concern. Thanks go out to Isochronous and Aiera for their coninued support against these actions by Islamaisbad.
BTW, Isochronous, I looked up your nation and region and decided to join your region. It has a belief system closer to mine than my former region did. I hope you dont mind.

Would it not have made more sense to accomodate this request with a solution beneficial to both parties? Perhaps he would have accepted the placement of a Bible in the library of each school, so that any interested party would be able to check it out and study/read it?

As it stands, our i4 exo-atmospheric fighters are flying high above the airspace of several Middle-Eastern nations, combing the ground for signs of this individual. If he cannot be located and evacuated to safety, we will be forced to take action to protest this human rights violation.

Pursuant to this, we were able to track the Islamisbadi transport plane to the drop point, and we have dispatched a squadron of helicopters to retrieve him. We ask that our aircraft not be fired upon (for such an action would, of course, be an act of war of a most deliberate nature).

glad to see this issue coming to an end, though i'm still not real happy with the religious persecution in Islamaisbad. I mean come on, one guy isn't a cult, unless he has a following, and from what i understand, this guy didnt. oh well. we'll continue to monitor the situation.

Unfortunately, many nations do not share our enlightened principles and seek to persecute and remove what they do not respect or understand from their social fabric. Though the Commonwealth of Aiera protests all these actions in the strongest terms possible, at the end of the day even we must accept them. We certainly can't intervene in every such incident - no nation is blessed with that many resources.

To that end, we appreciate your vigilance. Our concern in this matter is for the rights of the banished individual, who has now been successfully extracted from Jordan and is being flown back to the city of Grace, here in Aiera.

We appreciate your vigilance.

OOC:
I know the Hammerhead. Space: Above and Beyond, right? Not a bad plane, longer ranged than the i4. Slower, though, and with a smaller weapons payload.

Unfortunately, I haven't published the specs for the i4 on any forum, and my website only alludes to them in vague details.

I'm not a Catholic - I feel I should point this out. I'm not even, per se, a Christian - I consider myself more a universalistic moralist.

With this in mind, let me share a few conclusions:

Islamisbad uses highly inaccurate statistical techniques, and has a negative (and, I might venture, false) perception of the Catholic faith.

And the Catholic states here are, in some instances, a little overzealous. I mean... war?!
