I had an idea for a new region - BUT! Before you hit the "back" button, hear me out.

As opposed to another "unified" region (as most regions are), I thought it would be interesting if there were a region that actually encouraged ROLEPLAYING inside the region. As such, it would not be a "peaceful" region. Just about any nation that roleplays well (and has previously RPed threads to back that up) would be admitted, and instead of being allied, it would allow the nations involved to act as a REAL region - with disputes, inter-regional roleplays/diplomatic meetings, etc. It would have a detailed map for easier roleplaying, and would be relatively active - not just as a whole, but with eachother. You could be in the same region as your worst enemy, and a lot of interregional dynamics would come of it. Get what I mean?

If you'd be interested, post here. I'm thinking of inviting specific nations with outstanding RP records (that I know of), such as Sniper Country, Omz222, etc. Feel free to post any questions or comments you have.

(EDIT: The region has been created as "The Roleplayers Domain". Any suggestions on a better name are welcome. :) )

Nice idea. I have about three wars in Bigtopia and a civil war roleplay - all good - to back me up if I were to join. However, I am currently pleased with my region. Maybe if my region collapses, which wouldn't be soon.

We already do that. We are a geographical region, the exception is that there are two 'regions', both geographically next to one another.

I guess I might join, if this thing if in pans out.

That was supposed to be the original idea behind regions, checkyour issues sometimes, you get the idea regions are supposed to contain enemies as well as allies.

Exactly. With regions as they are, everyone loves eachother, and so there's no way an enemy will have a land border with you. Thus the only way to attack nowadays is by water.

And TPM, that's exactly what made me want to do this. I think the regions were originally meant to have strife, but the way they're being treated now makes it very hard to RP within the region, as all nations in a region are almost allied by default.

Anyone else interested in this sort of thing? It'd be a fabulous chance for some great RPing.

edit: I also think there are other rather large (100+) regions that may not normally interact with the regular NS environment but only with eachother - in their own world, so to speak. For example, I don't see many nations from the Heartland post a lot on the forums since that particular region is so large that they can support what you are proposing.

If ther is room I would like to try. I am a n00b, but I think the few "in characters" I have done have been done fairly well, and not godmoding what so ever. Of course if you dont have room for a small nation or if it just going to be a slugfest, thats cool. If however you do have room for a small nation to work around you 'bigcats', count me in.

Actually, adding small nations into the mix can make it all the more fun. The point is to really bring out the diplomacy and passive resistance that occur all the time in RL. Smaller nations can sometimes become "pawns", no offense or anything, but when two large nations who are in a standoffish mode start competing over foreign aid contributions and/or military bases in a small country, it can become all the more rich.

I'd, in fact, encourage small nations to join. So long as you can RP well and In Character, I'd love to have you join our region.

well Ferrussia, you can check my posts, there arent many of them, and I am sure I will be acceptable in the roleplay department, I have struck a deal with Hugoland to build reactors for Nuclear energy for my civilians(as a nations as small as mine needs to have help in such matters) so I already out of region trade contracts with me. Count me in.

NOTE: This region will be modern/very near future tech, and will probably follow something along the lines of 6 RL days = 1 NS year (1 RL day = 2 NS months) timescale, so that more intricate RPs can take place over time, without being a slow crawl. Obviously, the timeline would slow down to accomidate complex RPs, but the general timescale will likely be the 6d:1y ratio.

While it is a very good idea, it is not new. Many regions have nations of conflicting ideologies, or meshing ideologies but different goals - Which naturally ends up in crises, conflict and agressive diplomacy of all kinds.

Take my current region, South Africa - I'm currently at war with one of my regional allies, who is being infiltrated by our UN delegate, all the while a third nation has let Galdania deposit a nuclear arsenal on it's soil... It's a merry feast of nuttery and destruction. Erm, I digress.

I think all regions should be like this - if not an utter melting pot, then at least something other harmony and everlasting alliance - cuz' you know it ain't like that out here... In the real world(tm). :)

Einland, looks like an awesome region! I have a nation or two that I haven't RPed much with that I may want to move there and make active... is it open to new members? I may try my hand at RPing a monarchy.

In the meantime, the basis for the region has been formed as "The Roleplayers Domain". Please, only move here if you are SERIOUS about joining this venture and have RPs that you can prove your RPing ability with. If links showing quality roleplaying (or if you're new, a promise to be active and to roleplay) are not provided within 48 hours of entering the region, you may be ejected.

As for links to RP... well, I've not had the good fortune to get in on anything too substantial that'd make good proof(tho I hope to make a good showing in Rampage at Ribos); will you take a promise?

Sounds like fun, I haven't been on this site long, in fact the only real roleplaying I can point to is the current Communist Rebellion in Kaukolostan, but I'll let it stand for itself.
