(Basically feel free to post opinions or comments)

In response to the Elias Navy's Short Takeoff Multirole Aircraft (STMA) program, two Elias companies have entered designs that will eventually provide support for Marine landing operations as well as fleet protection trasks aboard Dolphin and Kiev class assault ships that lack catapaults.

EA-175

The Elias Aerospace Corporation's bid reflects the companies long and highly succesful history of designing quality aircraft and helicopters that are in service in hundreds of air forces around the world. The design uses the lift fan concept of vertical lift and the airframe shares the canard wing feature of the EA-160 Tactical Fighter to provide exceptional manoeverability and stealth.

The aircraft is powered by the EPE-138M Turbofan produced by Elias Precision Engineering.

FD-10

The other corporation that has entered this competition is a brand new company and the first time ever that Elias Aerospace has been challenged for a major military contract by another Elias Company. Federal Dynamics is a brand new organistation and have offered a much more unusual design wihich uses pitch vectoring to achieve vertical lift. The FD-10 uses the same EPE-138M Turbofan as the EA-175 and uses a very similar cockpit arrangement. However Federal Dynamics is expected to lose the competition because of the government is likely to favour Elias Aerosapce.

Specifications of the two designs will be released once initial flight tests begin.

OOC: You know i always king of liked the ugly duckling (the FB10/X32).

IC:
The Crookfur MOD is currently considering contracting Federal dynamics for a number of airframes as possible replacements for the Navy's CFF-9G Super Harrier (ie as a CAS orientated fighter with secondary AA capabilites as opposed to a fighter with secondary CAS capabilities, we already have some of FC's F-32).

OOC: or there could always be a export option based on the loser with a Crookfur avionics package....

Anyway just rooting for the under dog :)

ooc: The X32 is a cool looking aircraft, except for that huge and bulbous underbelly....

Newayz from the Top it looks really nice, IMO, thats why I used it for my Drago - modified with Canards, lengthened fuselage, enlarged cockpit and such.

This is my OOC comment about the RL selection process...

The Boing program offered a lower production cost than the Lockhead Martin in the end I think the decision was based on looks...alright and the fact that Boing was still having problems with it's Vertical Takeoff and landing...

I should also note that the Lockheed verion had problems that most other VTOL aircraft do not, the reliance on a single 'shaft' running at high velocity to continue to work properly....

IC: I might purchase some of those if I didn't have a large investment in Soviet Haggards VTOL aircraft...although more recently he has gotten a little well...GM

Artitsan Military is very interested in these designs, and will pay close attention to how they develop. Several higher ups have given consideration to funding one of these planes.

OOC:

Yeah I was kinda on the edge of my seat when they announced the JSF winner, after waiting for so long and because we're all going to be seeing so many of them over the next thirty or so years Im damn glad they went for the X-35. The X-32 doesnt bother me as much as some though.

F-35, all the way. The Commonwealth is in need of a V/STOL fighter, and would be glad to support the production of an Elias F-35.

Tempting, would you be willing to be a 20% partner?

Certinly.

We've been looking for a FA.Mk 2 and GR.Mk 7 replacement for a while now.

The United Socialist States of Zvarinograd is interested in a moderate cost, V/STOL strike fighter with enough speed and payload to deal with time-critical threats/weapons (i.e. SCUDs, IRBMs) and full blown invasions, our emphasis is fast response. Expect (though, do not be completely certain of) purchases in exceedingly large numbers as soon as your fighter is released in the international market.

I wish to buy 10 of each aircraft model and engineering rights. The money will be wired upon confirmation.

I'm still interested in a Crookfur avioniced version of the FD-10

OOC: sorry for advertising here UE.
Seversky: As a stop gap we could always upgrade your Gr7s to our CFF-9G standard (also known as Gr11CF).

Well basically it uses the Gr7a/Gr9a engine (or a Crookfur alcohol engine) but with a completely new set of Crookfur avionics making it swing role capable.
anyway details can be found here:
http://www.meatballs.terminator.org.uk/crookfur/aircraft.html#harrier

I only really offer an upgrade on Gr5s and above, the sea harrier are already good at thier role but suffer from using an older airframe.
Upgrade price is of course negotiable ($5-10million each or maybe less depending on numbers).
