Operation: Crocodile (Modern Tech RP. Semi-open)

OOC: If you want to get involved, please T-gram me before posting and I will approve or disapprove. For future reference, my nation is located on the Crimean Penninsula and the sultanate of Babu Nanu is near modern-day Istanbul on the Bosporous, and Nambu is located further south, near the Hellespont.

IC: The sun rose lazily above the mountains that run down the eastern coast of the Crimean penninsula. In the city of Sevastopol', the dockyards were crowded with workers, sailors, officers, and civilians saying goodbye to loved ones. Admirallisimo Goroth Obarskyr, the High Admiral of the Tokar Task Force being sent to open Operation: Crocodile, walked along the ancient piers. Hundreds of years ago, this same morning sun proudly shown down on the fleets of the Czar.

Today, the sun glimmered across the proud, polished metal of a gigantic naval task force. One end of the fleet lay as far south as Shablykina, the other end as far north as Lyubinovka. Goroth inhaled the cold, crisp morning air deeply. Today would be a proud day for Tokarev.

For many years, the Bosporous was controlled by the corrupt democracy that was known as Babu Nanu, which prevented all trade through the straight. Further south, the police state of Nambu controlled the Hellespont with one of the strongest flotilla in existance. When a ship was decommissioned, the Nambu government would tear off its armament and place them along the rocky cliffs lining the straight. Extensive minefields in the Marmaran Sea made trade impossible.

For long enough, Tokarev had been bullied into high tarriffs and taxes in order to traverse this region. These days were over.

Goroth boarded a small motor boat, full of other officers, that was headed towards his flagship. Up ahead, the proud "CTS Nikoloyevka" was preparing to lead the fleet to Istanbul. The Nikoloyevka was based on the older Kirov-class heavy missile cruiser. However, this flagship was nearly 30,000 tons and 300 meters long. A mammoth vessel, with huge 18-inch guns and packed with torpedoes and all sorts of missiles.

The small motor boat reached the side of the Nikoloyevka and a tough-looking Cossack officer, who Goroth had been friends with for a long time, named Daneel Yevgeny pulled him aboard.

"Ah, Admirallisimo! Good to see you again."

"And you, General. Are your troops ready?"

"Indeed they are. 100,000 of our best men have been loaded onto the ships."

"Good, good. So the old oiler ships are working well?"

"More well then we expected. Clearing them out and fitting them for troop carrying allows them to carry as many as 10,000 men each, so long as the journey is no more then a couple of days."

"Don't worry General, in a couple of days, Istanbul will be ours."

Obarskyr and Yevgeny quickly arrived at the bridge of the flagship. A bridge officer wordlessly handed the Admirallisimo a readout. Goroth read it and smiled, the entire fleet confirmed it was ready, nearly an hour ahead of schedule. Perusing the list, Goroth could not help but whistle at the sheer magnitude of the fleet.

Besides the 10 oilers being used for carrying the troops, the fleet consisted of

10 Rommel-class Battleships
5 Liberation-class Battlecruisers
20 Knox-class Frigates
30 Sumner-class Destroyers
20 Fletcher-class Destroyers
20 Halder-class Pocket Battleships
20 Sydlitz-class Cruisers
2 Ultimatum-class Carriers (based on the Nimitz hull)
1 Imitora-class Arsenal Ship.

This fleet, truly massive in proportions, was an incredible beuracratic nightmare. It cost billions to run it. In fact, there were at least 20 oilers, 10 Military Cargo Vessels, 25 Sacramento-class Combat Support Ships, 50 Cargo Aircraft, 15 Command/Communications Ships, and 5 Hospital Ships following this fleet around.

It had taken years to prepare this fleet, to the detriment of taxpayers and other branches of the government. There had been debate over whether it was worth spending so many billions to create such a large flotilla.

There was no way this fleet could be kept secret from Babu Nanu, but secrecy was not what they were counting on. The fleet was moving under the pretense of going to the Canadian Islands, where some Tokar detachments were fighting against a corrupt Republican government. The conflict was escalating, and it would be thought the fleet would be sent as a final blow to the government.

The oilers would be a "merchant fleet" that would refuse to pay the high tax set by Babu Nanu to go through the Bosporous unharassed. The government, unwilling to cause a giant explosion by firing on suspected oil ships, would instead force them to land at the docks and be siezed by the government. When that happened, 100,000 troops would launch a surprise attack. An hour later, the fleet would arrive and launch a bombardment of the oppositie side of the Bosporous, and launch air support to target areas. When the city was siezed, the second half of Operation: Crocodile would begin.

The fleet and troops would then march on Nambu.
