The Anti Sketch and big country movement

07-12-2003, 00:19
We must stop sketch and all of the leading countries. Little countries band together and bring this evil empire to it's knees. For together, we will wipe out the giant nations, and rule only as little nations! TO WAR!!!!!!

N00bs of the world unite! You have nothing to lose... But an RP war.

Seriously though, if any of you small countries start warmongering to "get back" at the older nations, you will get your asses handed to you. Or at the very least will look stupid and inexperianced.

I strongly suggest you stop this, now.

Many have tried this before, and many have fell flat on their faces.

I commend your effort. But in NS, size makes a big difference

I should note that many of the nations so many believe to be 'leading' are in fact the unexpected beneficiaries of something called the 'population bug' whereby they got a boost they didn't earn. Unfortunately, some of them, most notably Praetor and Sketch, seem to enjoy exploiting this to look bigger than they really are. However, if I have anything to do with it, there will be a time when the pop-bug nations are cut down to size.

Thank you, you may go about your business.

Ahem. Excuse me Miss Menel, but I fail to see how I ever miss-used my nation's size to gain an advantage. I have never warmongered, stated ridculous claims as to my miltary power, corwed about my immense size and how awesome I was (well, maybe once, but that was completely OOC in face of a "who's bigger" competition :P ) And only once had I really committed any type of RP that could be considered "bad" (points the Sketchian War, which he now wishes never happened...well parts of it anyways  )

I do not claim to have "earned" the population that I have now. But nor have I asked for the pop bug. When the time comes, if ever, I would gladly submit my nation to be "cut down" in size and restored to the "proper" population size. But for the mean time, I would greatly appreciate it if you (and others) would stop condemning me for something that I didn't do, and more importantly, something that is beyond my control. If you would please to that, I would be thankful.

Whatever enimity we may have for each other, I hope we can keep it on a "professional" level. Besides, I know that there are plenty other "crimes" that I have committed, ICly and OOCly.

Thank you for your consideration.

I assure you that I have not taken it in such a way. Interesting.....we have the same population, so I should be roughly 1.7 billion or so as opposed to my 2.something billion that I am now. Oh well, what's a billion or two? Give or take :P I remember it being a big deal when you were over 500 million.

ooc: Personally I have never understood the animosity towards "pop bug" nations. These angry newbies are no less justified in their begrudging of older nations for their larger populations. Egypt is a much older nation than is Pakistan, but Pakistan has twice the former's population. I don't see Cairo lodging any official complaint with Allah over this discrepancy.

OOC: Are you speaking strictly OOC, since you used the "Game Moddess" title?

Let's get something straight right of the bat, the "bug" is just that, a glitch in the game. The people who got it didn't ask for it, okay? I don't recall Sketch sticking up his hand in class saying "Teacher! I want the "bug"! Here's a shiny red apple! Please please please?"Frankly, I'm gettting rather sick and tired of people bleating about the pop bug (since I've been accused of having it but only got 2 issues/ day five days a week as in accordance with the settings). As well, no one seems to whine when it is a well-known fact that some countries start with 5 million and others with 9 million.

In addition, if we are to assume that NS is based on real-life, then it can easily be demonstrated that RL countries do have different growth rates.

On a technical note, I hear that the way to "cure" the bug is to move out of your region and then move back in. Then if the issue count is normal then you are "cured".

Let us all put this population bug nonsense to rest, once and for all. If you don't have the "bug" and find yourself growing at a slower rate, then adjust. Pretty simple, but then I suppose some folks would rather cry about the "injustices" of the game. Gee, do you think there might be other ways to counteract someone with a large population? Duh...

edit: As well, if the admin or creator of this game can show that my nation did indeed have the pop bug at any point in history then I am more that willing to accept whatever fair population adjustments they think necessary.

[Intelligence Minister] It has come to our attention Mr. President that Pakistan has a larger population than us.
[President] What? Who do those guys think they are? We are the oldest nation around!
[Intelligence Minister] Indeed. We have a population of about 67 million while they have a population of 154 million. As well, those upstart Americans have a population of at least 271 million.
[President]Bastards! We should easily have a population of a billion! Aren't we bigger than anyone?

Pray tell, what do you (or anyone else who has mentioned it) mean by "earn" my population? As far as I can tell, population growth is automatic, meaning - you have no control over it. I fail to see how you, or anyone else is is bitching about the pop bug, has actually "earned" the population that you currently possess. The only gripe that you people seem to have, is the fact that my particular nation (and those of the similarily afflicted) have, for some reason, received a "bonus" which increases the rate of growth for the population. I fail to see how that is my fault. There was no button where it said [code:1:853d565bfb]click here for pop bug[/code:1:853d565bfb] Nor was there any HTML "hacking" that I could have done. There are no "cheat codes" in NS.

So, in conclusion, I urge all the hecklers out there to drop the pop bug facade, and Shut the Fuck up. Thank you.

I know I earned my population. All 1,949,000,000 of my fictional citizens, I pumped out of my body, the product of love and labor! That's why I hate- oh and I mean hate!- anyone who didn't!

If I was a mother I'd beat up women who adopted kids!

Watch, I'm gonna go out tonight and tomorrow morning, I'll have 7 or 9 million more children. It's hard work, I tell you, but I think I earned my wings on them too.

Anyway, I have no IC response to this. There is not one nation in the entire history of mankind that ever waged war on another because it saw the other at the top of the UN World Rankings page.

OOC: You numnut. No one earns their population here. If you really are bleating about realism, then perhaps there should be adjustments made when some nations go to war at the drop of a hat. Odd how those nations just keep on going up with unlimited troops being spawned, I supposed, from the air. Never mind the real effect of losing an entire generation of adults (if the war is severe enough).
