Bigtopian Revolt

06-12-2003, 20:34
Introduction
Bigtopia started out rough. Upper Bigtopia was disputed territory. The evil dictator resigned and many colonial powers and the UBFF fought over the land. In the process, Lower Bigtopia was also captured. The two nations surrendered and all went well for a while. Then the UBFF went active again and declared independence. There was a battle and Holy Mercenaries and the UBFF won. Nanakaland regrouped forces and prepared for a counterstrike that would have wiped out the UBFF once and for all, but peacekeepers took over the situation.

The Story
More recently, the election of the colonial governers finished, with the horrible canidate winning over the good one by one vote! Outraged, the UBFF forgot any truce and teamed up with Holy Mercenaries' assasins. They shot at Bob Smith (the bad governer) and he resigned even before his innaugiration (sp?), leaving the country in anarchy.

The UBFF and Hold Mercenaries are expected to attack Nanakaland's garrisons soon, and the UBFF is gaining support. Rumor also has it that Lower Bigtopia may plan to revolt, too. Upper and Lower Bigtopia may soon become independent!

P.S. Experenced RPers only. Also, keep this war out of Nanakaland's nation - it is to be fought on Bigtopian soil.
06-12-2003, 20:40
Gregory IV has entered Lower Bigtopia's capital city, Bigton, with cheering crowds. The people shout, "Down with colonial powers!" Troops rally to the cause and soon they have left to attack the largest Nanakaland garrison in the Bigtopian region. It is on the border of Upper and Lower Bigtopia. If a battle can be won there, the Bigtopians would be able to control much of the Upper/Lower Bigtopian border. The war could be won or lost there. It is too late for peacekeepers...
06-12-2003, 20:45
Holy Mercenaries has sent its navy to Port Bigtopia, off of the Upper Bigtopian coast. If we win Port Bigtopia, the troops will march straight down to Nanakaland's largest fort (Nanaka, give me the name of fort, please) on the border of the two revolting nations. Forces already in Upper Bigtopia are heading to meet up with Lower Bigtopia's forces.
06-12-2003, 20:47
The UBFF gathers their forces. They will join in on the combat with the Nanakaland fortress.

This is too late for peace. The UBFF are terrorists and they will probably not stop until they are "liberated." Besides, I know Holy Mercenaries. HM was (not is) a member of the A Corp (an anti-UN terrorist organization) and will probably attack peacekeepers.

Still, it may work out. However, there has to be a battle first to be realistic (the first battle triggers the response). If I win the battle, I will allow peacekeeping forces.

That would be good. The thing is the battle will start any minute and my reinforcements and your forces will probably arrive half-way through (maybe enough to stop this before the war goes to far).

The Lower Bigtopian forces wait in the forest south of Fort Glory; waiting for the arrival of their allies.

My Forces
Infantry - 25,000
Tanks - 500
Helicopters - 250
06-12-2003, 21:11
1,000,000 Angry Citizens with Guns
100,000 Infantry
64 Standard Nanakan Army Helicopters (stolen)

Those are the forces that arrive in the area and sit in wait north of the fort in the Bigtopian Highlands. Holy Mercenaries is the only one of our alliance whose forces haven't yet arrived.

IC: Communique to Nanakland CinC
From Colonel Rechin Commander of 4th Brigade 105th Rifle Infantry.

Sir, do we have any information about the strength and equipment of emeny forces. We have 25 GT-1 MBT's and 40 Type 90 tanks that will be landing along with nearl 1200 infantry and many support troops. What resistance do we expect to be facing?
06-12-2003, 21:21
Commander Brown, a Special Forces Commander, walked up to General Karlson. Commander Brown looked nervous. "Upper and Lower Bigtopian forces are to our north and south," he said. "Holy Mercenaries have not yet sent their troops."

"Well, then," General Karlson replied. "Send the Special Forces to attack them before Holy Mercenaries arrives. The soldiers surrounding us are poorly trained and are depending on their ally."

"Yes, sir!" said the commander. He walked over to his barracks and got his troops. There were 60 Special Forces in all, including Commander Brown. The Special Forces boarded 5 SNAH and the helicopters flew out into the north, where the poorest trained soldiers were (the 1,000,000 angry citizens with guns).

To the north, there is the poorest trained soldiers. They have helicopters that were stolen from previous tensions, but are not skilled in using them. Their angry citizens have no training and can be delt with easily. Only 100,000 soldiers have training. The UBFF troops are in the highlands, which are hard terrain to access without helicopters.

To the south, there are fairly trained soldiers. They are from the former army of Lower Bigtopia and are in the forest. I wouldn't expect them to do much trouble, but remember that they are in the forest and would probably use guerilla (sp?) warfare. Remember those two sets of forces have high morale.

The Holy Mercenary forces have not yet arrived, but should come soon. They are the highest trained and are a force to be reakoned with. They are the most powerful of the enemies, but have almost no cause and thus low morale (they may surrender if surrounded). Their exact forces are not known because they are not yet in the battlefield.

Thank you Sir. I will send a message to bring up our attack and transport helicopters into the second wave. When we deploy we will have quite a long march from the sea (assuming its coastal) to your fortress, however helicopter troops should be able to reach your location within hours of our landing, which draws ever closer. Please advise as to where you would like us to deploy. Our actions will only be in defense of the conpound and we will take no part in an offense further than we deem to be necessary to make Nanakland forces secure and safe.

OOC: Is the rebellion out to get my colony of Burgston City that was carved out of Lower Bigtopia?

IC:

With the recent ascent of Frog to the supreme power of the 'States over the conservative church hierarchy, dissent has spread in the colonies. The small islands of Gault and Mont-Ange are in rebellion, and now the UBFF has returned to the borders of Burgston City.

High command has sent out as much of the fleet as could be spared. The Golden Division has returned to the scene of its original glory. The 2nd Division, having gained some combat experience fighting A-Corp, has also been dispatched to the borderlands.

Currently engaged at Burgston City/Upper Bigtopia frontier:

1st Division (Golden Division)
Commander: Maj. Gen. Jean Roy

15,000 infantry
1,000 support staff
50 scout helicopters
250 M-1A1 Abrams tanks
250 Bradley Armored Personnel Carriers
1000 Humvees and Jeeps
1000 trucks

The first division is in a line streching from the coast to about 30 miles inland. Any attack on the capital of Port St. William or any other coastal city would either have to break through these troops or spend weeks negociating the fog-covered slopes of the Andronicus Range. HQ is in Petrenople 15 miles south of the border.

2nd Division
Commander: Brigadier General Horatio Cuthbert

15,000 infantry
1,000 support staff
2,500 Humvees
250 Black Hawk Helicopters
250 Apache Helicopters

The 2nd division is spread throughout the mountains, and its equipment ledger shows this. Tanks cannot get through the Andronicus Range except at the (heavily defended) Little Yrg Pass, so the troops use helicopters. Any battle here wil likely be a man to man shootout throughout the range. As a result of this HQ maintains constant mobility and can be set up or evacuated on a moment's notice.

1st Fighter Wing
Commander: Colonel Pierre Beaucourt

50 F-18A Hornets
50 F-22A Super Hornets
20 B-2 Stealth Bombers

Nothing too special about these guys. HQ is at Roy Field in the Andronicus foothills. These planes can be anywhere on the line within a matter of minutes.

Special Ops (sabotage)
Commander: Lt. Col. Jimmy Doe (not real name)

Location: spread throughout Upper Bigtopia. Some are in the UBFF forces. Some live by military bases. Most own Piper Cubs or some other small plane so they can leave the nation quickly and inconspicuously if needed.

The Colonial Fleet
Admiral: Adm. Lucien Plessis

Currently steaming out of Port William for just off Upper Bigtopian coastal waters. The fleet is:

Nimitz-class carrier Undeniable carrying 30 F22A-Super Hornets (we're broke and can't fill up the carrier :o).
1 Ticonderoga-class Heavy Cruiser
2 Arleigh Burke class destroyers
2 General Roy class anti-air destroyers (all surface-fire weaponry replaced by anti-missle and anti-air capacity - expensive but worthwhile)

The Undeniable is the flagship.

The Holy Mercenary navy blockades the Nanakaland occupied city of Port Bigtopia. They prepare to land their forces and march inland to support the UBFF.

Meanwhile, the forces that were already in Bigtopia arrive at the grasy plains, west of the fort. The only free place for Nanakaland forces is the east. The forces ready to storm Fort Glory, to prove that it is not glorious after all.

HM Navy
2 Dreadnaught (sp?)
4 Battleships
10 Destroyers
4 Aircraft Carriers with 50 Bombers and 150 Fighters
15 Amphibious Carriers with 1,500 Marines

HM Army near Fort Glory
50 Tanks
100,000 Elite Commandos
125,000 Commandos
150,000 Marines
06-12-2003, 22:05
Oops. Multipost. The original one (that was supposed to be for New Montreal States) is right above Holy Mercenaires troop list.

While we like having support, it is for the wrong reasons. We started the agression. Also, Nanakaland wasn't braking any of those rules, it was just an unpopular colonial governer was elected by the whole foreign community.

This is a rebellion against all colonial powers.

Then so be it.

Orders on 1st Fighter Wing to launch B-2s for high-altitude precision bombing of UBFF regulars. (location having been recieved from our ally and fellow "colonial power" Nanakaland) Order on Ticonderoga-class cruiser Saint-Espoir offshore to launch missiles at your base camp once the co-ordinates have been recieved from the bombers.

Order on all available troops to support Nanakaland or Elizabethshire forces in operations on our border. Order on all available fleet units to support any maneuvers on the coast. Order on all fleet units to move to [point X] 5 miles offshore so as to better carry out previous order. Permission is granted to forces of any nation supporting the colonial powers to enter our lands within a 5-miles radius of the border with Upper Bigtopia. Permission will not be granted for further penetration into our lands barring extraordinary occurances.

"King" Gregory IV is driven into hiding. The citizens of Lower Bigtopia are on high alert as they realize that the vast majority of the foreign community is against them.
06-12-2003, 22:33
The Holy Mercenary army realizes that there is no hope with the increasing amount of enemies and the Nanakaland reinforcements on the way. They know that the only way to victory is if they take the fort, so they charge at Fort Glory with everything they've got at the battlefield!
06-12-2003, 22:35
Seeing the noble charge, the UBFF forces follow suit. Bad move. They are exposed to enemy fire and suffer heavy casualties. The survivors retreat and the UBFF is driven into hiding again until the next oppurtunity (sp?) arises.
06-12-2003, 22:38
Lower Bigtopia is about to suffer a horrible fate. Only one thing could save them. They sent a lawyer to Nanakaland proving that Gregory IV, as runner up in the governer election, is legally the governer since Bob Smith (the winner) resigned.
06-12-2003, 22:40
The lawyer actually makes since. Nanakaland has to leave them alone - at least until they can figure out how to leagally get Lower Bigtopia for treason.

OOC: I guess Upper and Lower Bigtopia have a sorta temporary break in the combat, but what about Holy Mercenaries?
06-12-2003, 22:46
OoC - What about me?

EDIT: Oh. That! My forces, seeing that the others have fled, realize that there is no way to win this. The drop their weapons and the people in the tanks abandon their tanks. They walk toward the fort with their hands up and are captured.
06-12-2003, 22:51
The Nanakaland reinforcements arrive just in time to chase after the retreating UBFF soldiers. Their goal is to either capture or kill the UBFF forces as they are fleeing. The captured will be tried for treason.

As for Lower Bigtopia, we will let their leader turn himself in. If he doesn't turn himself in, we will attack Lower Bigtopia and capture Gregory IV, anyways.

P.S. What about the HM navy? I haven't heard from them yet!
06-12-2003, 22:55
P.S. What about the HM navy? I haven't heard from them yet!

The navy just stays where it is because its communications were jammed by the Linux United hackers. It takes them a day before they realize that the HM ground forces have surrendered and the navy flees just in time to avoid capture.
06-12-2003, 22:56
Order on all naval units to pursue HM navy and either accept their surrender or engage and blow lots and lots of big holes in them.
06-12-2003, 22:59
Surrounded and greatly outnumbered, the surviving UBFF forces surrender. The UBFF leader escapes, however...

P.S. Don't punish the majority (Upper Bigtopian citizens) because of the minority (the UBFF).
06-12-2003, 23:04
Gregory IV doesn't want to be remembered as the one who brought misfortune on his citizens, so he turns himself in to Nanakaland and New Montreal States.

06-12-2003, 23:20
A lonely border post in at the wintery base of the Andronicus Range...

Capt. Antoine Leviolet sighed. He had had enough of sitting here in this isolated little post, ignored it seemed by anyone with anything more important to do, which was everyone. He flopped down into his office chair and wheeled to the window to take a look before writing another tedious, meaningless report...

He saw one of his pickets running towards the post, frantically signaling. As he bolted outside to meet the man, he heard the picket shout: "Sir, something's come up about 5 miles down the road!"

As he bolted to his Humvee and signaled his men to jump in alongside with him, andrenaline raced within his body. He bared heard the pciket yell directions, he was so focused on what might be coming up.

As the picket yelled "Stop here! Now!" all he saw was a broken down luxury SUV. As he went, very disappointed, to the window to speak to the occupants of the vehicule, he saw that it was none other than the erstwhile King Gregory IV, going to high command to surrender. Instead, the King had to give up to a lowly captain instead of causing several heart attacks by walking into HQ at Fort Roy.

The men cheered, and the captain, all dignity abandoned, joined right in. This meant promotions all around, as well as a great story for impressing the girls they had left at home...

-----------------------

After turning in the king, diplomats agreed that they would give Nanakaland the chance to try the king. If they did not want to then he would be shipped to Port St. William to stand trial there.

Don't worry, IG. I'll add you to the list.

Colonial Powers in Upper/Lower Bigtopia
Nanakaland
New Montreal States
Imperial Guardsmen (added to list)

Summary
What we do is split the benifits of the two colonies/protectorates, crush rebellions, and make sure those two nations never fully go against us. Bigtopia is huge, but largely uninhabited. Colonies are all over the place. The existing civilization of the Bigtopians in the area are very peaceful, but the terrorist group of the UBFF sparks trouble every now and then (three times to date).

Holy Mercenaries hates me and joins in on the side of my enemy in conflict, usually. However, we have delivered a crushing blow to both the UBFF and Holy Mercenaries in this more recent battle. It will be a while before they mess with us again - if ever.
