"In a special statement released earlier by the Booyard UN respresentative," begins the reporter, "he condemned Morporkistan's entertainment using landmines to unnecessarily maim innocent lives and animals. We go straight to our International Affairs Correspondant, Andrew Andalan, who is outside of Parliament House."

"Debate is to begin in Parliament House in just a few minutes," Andrew says, "on how Morporkistan's inhumane television entertainment. This is all part of the Booyard Parliament's new campaign to step out landmines.
Recently, Parliamentary officials branded landmines 'unnecessary killing devices.' Parliament released a statement saying, 'The vast majority of the House voted for the UN resolution on banning the use of landmines.' That is all for now."

"Well there we are," the TV reporter says, "Parliament will be debating the issue very soon on whether to take action against Morporkistan's 'landmine TV'. Join us again soon for more updates on this issue.

"Hello again and welcome to the Booyard Lunchtime News Update. We bring you an update on the situation of Parliament's campaign against landmines. We go straight to our Political Correspondant, Andrew Andalan, outside Parliament House."

"We have just received word from a Parliamentary spokesperson that Booyard has asked the UN for backing to disable Morporkistan's cruel 'landmine TV' campaign by military force." Andrew explains. "We were also told that at present, Members of Parliament are in favour of sending troops to Morporkistan to negotiate, or if the need be, take down their cruel broadcasting and 'landmine TV.' Also, the President has asked for any countries in favour of the proposed landmine ban to also support Booyard's cause for using force against Morporkistan. We will get back to you with more as soon as possible."

[Statement Issued by President Corinth Dleroes]
"While use of these weapons is inhumane, need I remind you piddling malarky spewing UN "Peacekeepers" that you that the rest of the world doesn't care about the UN resolution? Over 2/3rds of the nations of the world are NOT going to be affected by your ill-intentioned resolution. Morporkistan is NOT a UN member, and as such, any time you attempt to make it obey UN resolutions is a violation of soverignity, and rest assured, we will make you foolish tyrants regret taking action. And we ask, do you plan to do this to all landmine using nations outside of the UN? We use them, and they are selling quite well on the legal international markets, which you do not control. In summary, take action, and we'll provide some reaction via the Marine Rapid Response Force and the 5th Fleet.

hy, I'm with New Empire. JUST TRY AND FORCE US. (I don't actualy sell them, but that's beside the point.) The point is, the UN has no power. You can try to force non-UN nations to follow your laws, but all you will end up with is a bloody nose.

OOC: The UN really is pointlss on NS, main reason because everything is done with roleplay, i see UN nations chucking bio and chemical weapons around all the time.

IC: As a relatively new nations we have founf mines are a cheap and effective way of gaurding our borders without a loss of our soldiers lives. We did spend money on connecting the mines to our MilStat system so we can turn them on in peacetimes  i mean in wartimes... honest... and off in peacetimes.
