December 5, 2003

With Augnista solidly under the control of the revolutionary forces, representatives from nations around the world have been invited to the coastal city of Fairwater to address the numerous decisions facing the new Augnistan nation. Among the issues delegates are expected to address are the structure and powers of the new government, training and organization for Augnistan police forces, potential splinter groups (such as the Augnistan Communist Workers Party), a timetable for Copiosa Scotian and allied withdrawal from Augnista, and possible trade agreements.

Four nations have already named delegations, as follows:

Augnista
Ash, Revolutionary Leader (Conference Chair)
Tyler Durden, Advisor
Matt Sikba, Advisor
Paul Hambleton, Provisional Administrator

Copiosa Scotia
Sara Davidson, Special Envoy (Lead Delegate)
Andrew Kane, Secretary of Security, Enforcement, and Defense
Matthew Griffith, Treasurer-Secretary of Commerce
Major General Ryan Aitken, Theatre Naval Forces Commander
Admiral Allan Greer, Theatre Naval Forces Commander

(Note: Provisional Administrator Paul Hambleton, on the Augnistan delegation, is Copiosa Scotia's interim governor for Augnista.)

CorpSac
Mu-ya Klatu, Co-CEO of CorpSac Corporation (Lead Delegate)
General Kulan, Peacekeeper Commander
Elya Breen, Economic Advisor
Agent Carver, Corporate Intelligence Agency

Edolia
Scottford von Harrick, Minister of State (Lead Delegate)
Wang Xiaoping, Economic Advisor
Durn von Durenberg, former Air Marshall of Edolia

Ilek-Vaad
Sir Alec Conover, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs

Qaidam refused an invitation to join the conference due to a dispute over funding of the Augnistan Communist Workers Party. Yet to respond to the invitation is The Maccabees, to which the former Augnistan government sold a large number of women as slaves.

(Note: The section above will be updated as information becomes available.)

Delegates from any nation with an interest in the proceedings are invited to attend the Fairwater Conference, but must have a thorough understanding of recent events in Augnista and their effects on the nation.

And now for some OOC information and ground rules.

Background on the situation in Augnista can be found in the following two threads:

The Augnistan Slave War (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92266&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)
Slave revolt in Augnista (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=97156&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)

This is a semi-closed RP, in the sense that the participants will most likely be limited to the nations that have already been involved, but not to those specifically listed in the above post. If you had any part in either the brief war or the revolution it touched off, don't even worry about whether you're mentioned above, because you're most likely welcome to join in, and by order of Augnista's new management, any nation with an interest in the conference may participate, so long as the delegates meet the requirements stated ICly in the above post. Please note, however, that the invasion of Yurka is considered a separate and unrelated incident, and is pretty much irrelevant to this conference.

That's all I've got. I'll wait for Augnista to set the scene. Other nations, please begin by detailing your delegations' arrivals.

Game on.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs sends word that he must return to Lassic for a previously scheduled national debate. He does however send his assistant Sir Alec Conover.

Sir Conover arrives via Marathon VTOL with several Naval Marine officers as a guard, he pauses to make a statement to the press.

"The Republican Council of Ilek-Vaad hopes that will conference will lead to a stable, democratic government for the people of Augnista and will bring an end to uncertainty, violence and oppression. We pledge to do our part to see that Augnista is re-built as a shining beacon of freedom and democracy."

The Augnista officals have arrived. They are as follows: Ash, leader of the revolt; Tyler Durden, close friend to Ash; Matt Skiba, another close friend to Ash; Paul Hambleton, Provisional Administrator.

Speech from Ash

We would like to first hear the ideas from the other nations. I would also like to make some things clear: all new officials of the government will be people from Augnista, we will have the final say in which form of government will be chosen, any nation that becomes hostile to another one will be asked to leave, any nation with ludacris ideas will be asked to leave, and no hippies, feminists, or blind people will allowed.

Kidding. Hippies, feminists, and blind people will be allowed. The conference will be once all nation's delegates have arrived.

Sara Davidson, Matthew Griffith, Andrew Kane, and Allan Greer hurriedly unloaded from the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor that had brought them to Fairwater. Visible out in the harbor, the destroyer Resolute served as a reminder to all that Copiosa Scotia would not stand for any attempts to take advantage of Augnista's situation.

Griffith consulted his watch as they entered the building, and shook his head. Already five minutes late. "Is it always like this?" he whispered to Kane.

"Pretty much." Kane, by now a veteran of diplomatic trips, was not exaggerating. Copiosa Scotian diplomats were not exactly famous for their punctuality.

As Davidson opened the door of the conference room, she heard a voice, presumably Ash's: "...hear the ideas from the other nations." Oh, boy. They moved to sit with Ryan Aitken, who had apparently managed to arrive on time from the capital.

Kane nudged Sara. "I hope you've got something planned already."

"Nope," the young diplomat whispered back. "Looks like I'm winging it." Following the remarks from CorpSac's General Kulan, she stood. "Well, I won't say I'm not full of ideas, but I think it's important that we all get a good handle on the situation before any more ideas are presented."

Kane, meanwhile, turned to Griffith, then jerked his head toward Hambleton. "You know anything about our administrator? I've never met him."

Griffith nodded. "Yeah, I know him. He's a good man, and plenty competent. His results should speak for themselves."

"Well, that's what we're about to find out," Kane replied.

Davidson continued. "If it's convenient at this time, I'd like to ask Ash to give us a report on the current state of affairs in Augnista. The reports we're getting are almost entirely positive, but I'd like to hear your perspective."

OOC:Finally able to get into this thread....

"The nation, at this moment, is in a state of peace. I do not know how long this will last. We need to get a small council together to deal with the problems within Augnista until a permant government is established. We ask that Mu-ya Klatu of CorpSac, Scottford von Harrick of Edolia, and Sara Davidson of Copiosa Scotia join this council. Matt Skiba and Tyler Durden will be in the council also. Right now, many are demanding for the head of Tender Branson, who some how lived through a massive volley of stinger missiles and machine gun fire. Then somehow avoiding the hundreds of SAM missiles fired at the helicopter, he made it to safety. We are pleased that the degelates have arrived here in one piece. We ask any other nations, who have still yet to arrive, to move their asses. We thank those who have showed up. Thank you. That will be all. ....Wait....Copiosa Scotia good job being on time."
