Land Mine Crusade

05-12-2003, 18:28
Land mines kill millions of lives every year. Yes war is war, but after the war why must innocent women and children pay for the price of another nations hostility towards their nation. Land mines are cruel, and dont stop killing after the war is over but they wait untill someone else to step upon them. Imagine you are a 6 year old child in a poor tropical nation, you are playing soccer when you step on a land mine and you now lose both legs. Now is it worth using land mines, I think not.Canuk Central uses a form of "conscription" that makes all citizens complete at least 20 years of compulsary military service. I have already ordered many weapons, and tanks for my crusade against landmines. I have 8 million troops at the moment. They are all now taking some of the best military training. Consisting of hand to hand combat, weapon classes, military tatics, stealth classes, bushcraft/ fieldcraft classes, survival sessions, physical fitness coarses, warcraft sessions, and much more. When they finish their lessons at my Marine base my nation will have the best trained military in the world. I only have 8 million but if well-trained It can stop a nation of 15 million from using landmines. If you wish to join my crusade, then move to my region Canadian Hemisphere. These troops will only be used for disarming and defusing land mines, killing terrorists, and solving international disputes (they teach tough love and keep the peace). PLEASE JOIN MY FIGHT AGAINST LAND MINES, ADD TO MY MILITARY AND JOIN MY REGION AND WE CAN END THIS SILLY FEUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Belem uses millions of landmines in defense of our borders and in deployments around the world. It is the simplest way to defend a narrow area or create a killzone for enemy troops. And since we are not part of the U.N. we dont have to worry about the ban. so what are you going to do about it?

OOC: and u cant have 8 million troops u only have a population of 8 million.

OOC: Yes... even with cumpolsory military service. Your army would be 10-15% of your population.

If you are using all your population. They would have no weapons, no food, no ammunitiona. More than half my army are just support: Mechanics, chefs, drivers.

IC:

We also use mines they cover our borders. Though ours are connected by remote to the MilStat system (our equavilent of DefCon). We have Milstat for each system including mines. This means loss of civilian life is a small chance.

Land mines only kill civilians if:
1) The civilians are stupid.
2) The government is stupid.

If you have a reasonably sensible government with average intelligence citizens, and you don't mind getting things for free, you too can have landmines and not worry about the civilians dying!

As stated elsewhere the Kingdom of Crookfur does not use use "land mines" instead we use Land torpedos and Strategic and Tactical Area Denial Weapons (SADM and TADM).

Tactical Area Denial Weapons are not a replacement for landmines.
Spec ops units conducting ambushes can't carry around TADWs.

Well not much support eh CC well i am not gonna help aswell. A small nation needing to defend it's borders without mines. Ridiculous. I just bought 600.000 mines extra.

Chult also has landmines covering its borders, in clearly marked stratigic positions--no one will die from acciedently walking on one unless they totally ignore the sign and walk/run through the minefield. Landmines are simply too effective to ban.

Landmines are simply too effective to ban.And if the UN does ban them, I'm just going to get more! To...uh...protect myself when it comes to try to get rid of them! Yah! I'll let the UN get rid of them by sending soldiers to step on them!

i wasn't talking about a replacement, i was talking about a replacement name ;)

OOC: Crookfur does use lots of land mines (with our rather large Corps of Royal engineers they tend to be favourite toys) we just use other names these days :) (land tropedo was actually the orginal american civil war name for land mine like devices).

Landmines are planced around the borders of Mighty Mountains. The land will be used as the "Do Not Go Near Area" sign.

I'll fight you three if you don't godmod. i use land mines. over 2 million at last count. we have a sealed border policy and use land mines to enforce it, along with kill-on-touch electric fences and barbed wire.

Imagine you are a 6 year old child in a poor tropical nation, you are playing soccer when you step on a land mine and you now lose both legs.

Imagine you are a small nation, being overwhelmed by superior machinery. Your outdated AK-47's are nothing compared to the high-tech Tanks and Mech walkers. Imagine you rummage through old military supplys. You find some mines. You get your soldiers to bury them in the ground where you know the enemy will pass. A large heavy tank comes rolling along the valley. Onto the landmine. BOOM. One less tank to worry about, one less enemy you have to kill to win the war, whatever it may be for.

Imagine you are a private nation. You have a closed door policy, and will not let foriegners of any kind enter throuhg your borders. Your country is attacked by ground every other week. Your military is too small. What can u possibly use to change the outcome of the battle?

The nation, Jappe_Fret, thinks that land mines are cruel and evil. They make victimes in times of war and even in time of peace.
they slowdown the rebuilt of a nation who has been in war.
Mine are maybe the most cheap weapons, but those are blind weapons.
they don't make a diffrence between guilty or innocent.

The landmines aren't what kill people, it's the idiots that place the mines without marking their locations (or just don't care enough to mark them, or are using them to kill civilians on purpose I.E.- the Soviets in Afghanistan).

I personally aint going to destroy any landmines whatsoever, because I aint in the UN.

Agrigento does use landmines...however we do consider ourselves a sensible government. When we use them we know the general area they are in. We make sure the civilians know to avoid them, and use them with more regard than the third world countries which are plagued by such accidents.
Layarteb

Layarteb doesn't actively use landmines because we don't have a need for them but we support the use of them. We use anti-personal mines like the Claymore in combat and other devices not intended to stick around for anytime after the battle as we are greedy and tight with how we spend our money :)

We suggest to ban only airdroped land mines as their possitions cannot be mapped upon placement.
