International Currency Exchange

30-11-2003, 20:04
In an effort to standardize foreign commerce, the Liedl Region Cooperative Alliance has taken it upon itself to regulate currency exchange among nations. An example of where this would come into play would be the purchase of commodities by one nation from another nation with which it does not share the same currency. It is the hope of the Liedl Region Cooperative Alliance that the United Nations will see fit to sanction our currency exchange as the means of determining the values of respective currencies and that all nations interested in becoming part of a new financial community will contact us so that we can best assess where their economy stands.

You may wish to peruse the Quippothian Currency Exchange, which has already done most of this. I'm not sure how active it is, but this is what I base my curreny's relative value on.

To demonstrate the committment of the Liedl Region Cooperative Alliance (OOC: which by the way is open to anyone interested in joining) to this international currency exchange, the LRCA's Economic Committee has created a psuedo-currency, which is not actually spent, but used to determine the worth of member currencies. This quasi-currency is called the lirca . Here is how the currencies of the various members of the Liedl Region Cooperative Alliance stack up against the lirca as of November 30, 2003:

Al-Bayak: 1 lirca = 0.58 bayaki; 1 bayaki = 1.72 lirca
Archenia: 1 lirca = 0.54 Imperial dollars; 1 Imperial dollar = 1.85 lirca
Cookmar: 1 lirca = 1.8 shillings; 1 shilling = 0.56 lirca
Kharzov: 1 lirca = 1.06 odini; 1 odin = 0.94 lirca
Liedl: 1 lirca = 1.2 pounds; 1 pound = 0.83 lirca
Lyddia: 1 lirca = 0.96 shekels; 1 shekel = 1.04 lirca
Lynchester: 1 lirca = 1.31 chipples; 1 chipple = 0.76 lirca
Mecklenberg: 1 lirca = 1.13 mark; 1 mark = 0.89 mark
New Limerick: 1 lirca= 1.1 punt; 1 punt = 0.91 lirca
New Rom: 1 lirca = 0.72 aurei; 1 aureus = 1.39 lirca
Yudin: 1 lirca = 1.02 soyedi; 1 soyedi = 0.98 lirca

While we in the Liedl Region have no desire to step on anybody's toes, we feel it is time to offer a fresh new alternative and will reevaluate any previously listed currency as fairly as possible. We estimate that we should be able to adjust evaluations weekly as necessary and that we should be able to actually process orders within a week.

Do you havea reference point? Something that the other currencies will be measured against?

Perhaps you could use the value of some specified grade of a defined material (gold, silver, uranium, whatever) as your baseline. Or perhaps an existing real-world currency (the British Pound would be my choice).

What criteria will you use to determine the relative value of the currency? How often will the list be updated (this was a mjor issue with the Quippothian Currency Exchange)?
