Enitire Divilosan Armada sets sail

30-11-2003, 04:07
Admiral Lord Reginald Peters rode up in his carraige to the docks. He owed his position partially to nepotism (He was a relative of the leader of the country, Prince Eric Revvels) , but mostly to his unmatchable seamanship. He loved walking around the docks, and inspecting the fleet. All the ships were painted aquamarine blue, and their appearance meshed beautifully with the background. Today, however, he was ordered by the Prince to take the fleet out on a mission. He got out, a sword and two pistol clipped to his side, and many medals on his chest, and walked to the Sovereign, the largest ship in the fleet and the flagship. Troop detachments and equipment were already aboard all the ships.

"Sir, it is a pleasure to have you aboard." said Commodore Paul Jackson, captain of the Sovereign. "Cut the small talk, Commodore. Gather all the captains in the officer's wardroom of the Sovereign. We have much to discuss."

Once all the captains were gathered, they discussed the mission. They left, and they unfurled their sails. "Set a course northwest." ordered the commodore. The Admiral was in his cabin, planning strategy. As they left the harbor, they were joined by many merchant ships, hired to transport troops.

OOC: For this RP to work, I have to find another nation who roleplays late 1700s to mid 1800s. I myself focus around the early 1800s.

Baston Island, New Eastgate
The mid Pacific

The black iron-coated hulk of His Majesty's Loyal Ship Testudo, incomplete, provided an imposing background as Commander Baston State Fleet Admiral Lord Millard saw off his charges aboard their less impressive vessel. HMLS Whippet had been classed an "armed explorator" and tasked with making renewed diplomatic contacts with the outside world- before the Peripherals did.

Captain Whitely was authorised to use any and all force to prevent the Godless rebels from obtaining horses or armaments whenever and wherever he might encounter them. He was also to secure trade contracts for horses to the Western States and to seek out ideal sealanes for the transit of such trade and exports.

With a crisp salute to his Admiral, Whitely turned up the gangplank and boarded his vessel for only the second time. Now that she was to be his home for any number of months, perhaps even his grave, Whippet didn't look so impressive as he'd remembered by his first excited glimpse some weeks since.

92’x26’x11’, 185 hands all told, eight 12pdrs below, two 6pdrs on the quaterdeck, two on the little forecastle, one 20ft cutter and two 11ft boats. Surely we'll never fit nine score men in those he worried.

"Don't you worry, Mr.Whitely." He startled to hear the Admiral call, Lord Millard having evidently noticed the Captain's worried regard of his boats. "She's a good ship, and guns enough to make Hoode think twice!"

'Tis not the Hoodeians I'm worried for, but her. Whitely thought, considering the less than aptly named ocean before him.

Half an hour later HMLS Whippet's two tall masts could be seen to creep out of the strait, past the mouth of the Pollice and out to sea. Little did she know that her almost arbitrarily chosen course put her right to meet a huge armada on the high seas.
