This is the thread for the conuntries involved in the construction and operation of the Global Orbital Defense Matrix to discuss the share of resposibility of our system. We would like to ask all non-members to refrain from comment. We will begin when all our members have checked in.

I'm here. We can begin when ever everyone is ready.

Excellent. I hope everyone arrives soon. I want to get this started before the weekend ends.

checking in. i'm going to be sleeping for most of today, though. i and my rp-ness will be up and running by 9pm or so ET.

Good. We’ll begin. Esamopia should be here soon, but if not, I’ll send another TG.

For convenience, I would like to run this thread from the first person. It saves us from having to muck about with things like ‘President So-And-So stands. ‘Blah De Dah…” and so forth. Just post from your own perspective (that of your nation), like “I think we should blah blah blah…”.

Now, to business.

We have several things that need to be addressed right away:
-Who will be responsible for launching materials into space.
-Who will be responsible for putting together the various modules on the ground before being launched.
-Who will be responsible for writing the programming for the computers in the stations.
-Who will be responsible for designing the electrical and mechanical systems.

Keep in mind, these are just for the CONSTRUCTION STATIONS. The satellites will come later, but for right now we need to deal with this part of the project. Also keep in mind, each of these is a massive undertaking. You need to volunteer for what your nation will be best for.

This is a temporary list. Feel free to bring up other aspects not covered here.

Let the discussion begin.

i (semi-ooc) propose a simple organization of the tasks -
I. Design
1. Grand Design (how 2 and 3 work together)
2. Mechanical Design
3. Electrical/Software Design
II. Component Construction (on earth)
1. Mechanical Construction
2. Electrical Construction/Software Programming
3. Assembly into Modules (for launching)
III. Component Launching and Assembly (in space)
1. Launching
2. Mechanical Assembly of Modules (from II-3)
3. Software-Software and Software-Hardware Integration
(IV.) Component Use (this is using the construction stations to build the actual weaponry)

unless another nation has the technology better-refined than we do, we'd like to use our magnetic launchers to take responsibility for sending this stuff into orbit (i.e we take III-1). we're also good at mechanical design, so we can take I-2 or maybe II-1. not to say that we can't do anything else, but these are our strong points.

Well done. An excellent break up of nessicities.

As I see it, we can handle this two ways:
1. We do it this way, each nation contributing one part.
2. Each nation builds a seperate station that they will build and run.

Option 1 is more complicated, but Option 2 is a bit splintering. We can do it either way. Let's figure this out first, then if we choose option 1, then we move on to Bereza's outline.

(Before we assign anything, I want to make sure that everyone has seen this. Everything is tentative for the time being.)

Padmasa can use the same launchers that it uses to bring materials to it's Capital ship yards in orbit to bring up the materials. If we do it this way we can easily make sure it is all collected and kept in one place, and using our fleet move the materials to the waiting construction crews.

Also, Padmsa could easily Assemble the Modules at our capital ship yards.

All we need are the designs and materials.

OOC: Sorry about the delay.

Excellent. I suppose well just do all the stations together. Before we commit to anything, let's here what everyone else has to say.

Our own space capabilities are more limited, so we will be less useful as far as space construction is concerned as others might be. However, we will be more than able to handle making the software packages, along with a portion of overall module construction.

As for design, our engineers have already made designs for the system. Any suggestions or concerns are more than welcome, and each nation, as agreed, may send its own personnel to inspect our designs, and help improve them (for example, if anyone has the technology to generate gravity without the spinning disc idea, that would be great).

gravity without a spinning disk? we can't think of anything realistic...

egocenturia - so you're fine with I-1, I-3, and II-2?
padmasa - II-3, III-2, and possibly III-3?
me - III-1, I-2, maybe II-1

assuming nobody else wants the ones above, the remains are....huh. there's nothing left.

Interesting. Let's hear from everyone first, but it looks like this will work. Keep in mind, the plan calls for a second set of stations to be built later on, and we still have to decide on the satillites.

Next issue: fundng. Who's footing the bill for what? We can either have the nations who didn't sign up for a construction aspect pay for most of it, or we can have each nation pay the same amount.

Other ideas are of course welcome.
Padmasa

Those nations not helping with construction must take up the lion's share of the bill. Those of us working on construction are using our own systems which cost money to operate, why make us pay the same, which would in effect be having us pay a great deal more than anyone else?

We need to get everyone's voice here. It is very important that we all give input on the system.

I'm probably going to send out another round of telegrams.

Good idea, that's likely gonna be necessary.
