The fighter, designed to be based on the starstream battleship class spacecraft, is capable of both atmospheric and space fight. It can be launched from a rail system on the starstream class as well as HMSS Victory in orbit over earth, this means they can be launched much faster than other fighters. It also has the ability to land and take off using the conventional techniques.
Its weaponry consists of 2 Goldstream laser cannons and 2 missile tubes which can be armed with either the Scattershot anti-fighter missile or the Star Arrow anti-ship missile.
Down sides to this design are that it lacks a shield system and faster than light travel. It makes up for this by being light and manoeuvrable enough to avoid most enemy fire and having thick armour that will hopefully defend against light weaponry.
Before mass production starts the D-5000 is planned to be put through a series of field tests and trials. This will be done at the space station HMSS Victory and foreign observers are welcome. After the governments requirments are met the fighter will sold on the open market. A price hasn't be set as yet.
Anyone wishing to observe the trials must report to the foreign office in Hampcourt for transport to the station.
