A Modern Day Black Beard (Open AntiPirate RP)

OOC:Would someone please be willing to RP the pirates? This will in no way reflect on your nation, it will just make the scernario more interesting. This is an open RP, anything semi-reasonible goes. This is a repost of an old attempt that never got off the ground.

Gentlemen, I’m glad you could all join us here today to discuss the pirate threat. As you all know for some weeks now they’ve been sinking merchant ships up and down the coast. Due to the fact that we originally believed them to be separate unconnected attacks we have dealt with the situation ourselves by convoying ships and providing aircover for others sailing independently. However, recent intelligence has revealed to us that these are not isolated attacks. Instead, they are part of a much larger organization. What we are dealing with is an entire pirate fleet, heavily armed and operating completely outside international law. (A slide of a ship appears on the screen.) We believe that the main portion of their fleet consists of four light Independence class aircraft carriers that were surplused at the end of WWII and refitted to operate jet aircraft. They operate a wide variety of aircraft (Appropriate slides begin to appear on the screen.), everything from F4 Phantoms to Mirages, with a few of the newer Tomcats and Hornets mixed in. Their surface force consists primarily refitted Gearing class destroyers from the same time period. As of yet we have no evidence of onboard missile capability, but if any exists it is probably well below current standards. Because of the recent damage to several satellites by last month’s solar flare large sections of the ocean are uncovered by satellite surveillance, thus providing them with a wide area in which they can operate undetected. Currently we are conducting air searches with stealthed F-28’s, but we have a lot of ocean to cover. You have all been attacked, insurance rates are rising, and overseas trade will soon come to a grinding halt if something isn’t done. So, are there any questions before we leave to begin anti-pirating operations?

Through the dark night the Grimdalian merchant ship sails, seemingly unaware of the danger that approaches. Racing silently through the darkness the warship approaches, the Jolly Roger flying at the mast.

OOC: Whoever is RPing the pirates can pick up here.

OOC- Mind if I join?

A lone ship leaves the cave. On it's side in small letters say *S.S STENCH*. Heading to the mainland to do a little raiding

"Sir! We are on course!"
"Good, now get me an informer to keep the crew from mutiny. That treasure will be ours. Now son, join me in an evil laugh"
"Argh sir!"
*starts laughing*

OOC: Sure, I was hoping for a combination of people to play both the nations hunting the pirates and the pirates themselves. Hopefully some other people will show up.

OOC- I hope I'm not the only pirate. It would be fun if I had a rival.

OOC: I've been planning a bit of Reaving and raiding myself, but my storyline isn't quite ready yet. I hope that when the time comes this will still be going.

OOC- Yup
IC- The ship continues to move to the mainland but slowing it's speed.
"You!"

"Yes captain?!"

"Get the crew in the F4 Phantoms, do a routine patrol. If any ships are spotted contact us and you'll recieve further orders. NOW GO!"

"Aye capatain."

*The men got into F4 (4 in total) and got off the carrier*

"We better get a message or off with their heads."

"Argh captain."

OOC- Gotcha, the F4s could try to avoide the craft or do complicated manuevers

OOC: Just for reference once the fighting starts. Nothing has happened yet.

As a coastal nation depending very much on shipping and trade, we view these modern pirates are a threat to international shipping and commerce, we can provide two Task Forces to aid in the fight against them. As soon as we muster the ships and crew needed, we will send them immediately to Grimdale.

"Black, spot anything?"

"No, span."

"I hope we do or else off with our heads."

"No more heads?"

IC: Aequatio, your liason once in the area will be Commadore Michael Dowell. Grimdalian forces in the area consist of several fleets and crusier squadrons as well as several land based air fleets. Support will also be provided by SOSUS stations located throughout the ocean seabed.

Captain Mick 'Gungho' Farhorn began the last leg of his search pattern. In the backseat his RIO Johnny 'Fatso' Link continued flipping between the various sensors built into the F-28 Raptor. Off to his right was his wingman, a new kid, Lieutenant O'Conner, he went by the nickname 'Doghouse' for reasons unknown. So far the seas had proved empty except for scheduled traffic. With full stealth protocols engaged the two planes were invisible to everything from radar to infared imaging, even the old Mark one eyeball would be useless against their polarising skin.

"Black, spot something yet?"

"That's a negative."

"It's a good thing we have a backer."

"We have a backer?"

"Yes, I overheard the captain talking about a backer.I think the backer was a terrorist group called TGAK."

"What are they going to ship?"

"They stole some planes from USK."

"What kind?"

"I think some S7-11s."

"Don't those have stealth capabilities?"

"Don't know, but I think so."

"Then they better."
29-11-2003, 22:01
Captain Farhorn suddenly flipped the F-28 on it's side. A second look confirmed his first glance. A small fleet where none was supposed to be, and by god, there was a carrier in the middle. He quickly radioed back to base and was told to hold and observe until a strike force could arrive.

Back in Grimdale alarms shattered the peace and quiet at O'Conner airfield. Pilots and RIOs ran for their planes, flight plans already being downloaded in the F-28s computers. One after another they rolled down the runway, unable to use their VTOL capabilities due to the heavy weight of six Bloodhound cruise missiles. Their internal bombays were filled with a variety of ordinance, everything from 2000lb bombs to Adder air-air missiles. Forming up the fifty-two planes slipped through the skies towards their targets.

At the carrier

"SIR! We've been spotted!"

"LAUNCH ALL AIRCRAFT!"

"Yes sir!"

"And get my F/A-22 ready."

"But sir, that thing is old, and it's going to take a hour to get it done."

"Don't care, MEN GET IN THERE!"

Pilots get into the planes with no plan what-so-ever. Some trip, some fall, others get in.

"Are all pilots in?"

"Yes!"

"Get the rest of the crew in the AA guns. NOW!"

"YES SIR!"
29-11-2003, 22:42
Lieutenant O'Conner's voice came over Captain Farhorn's earphones. "Looks like they know something's up, they're readying the carrier for take off."
"Well we can't have that. Let's see whjat we can do to mess up their plans."

The pair of F-28 Raptors formed up and rolling out, commenced an attack on the carrier. Lightly armed, they only carried Adders and 500lb bombs in addition to their inbuilt Vulcan Six-Packs. Polerized skin making them invisible against the sky, their jammers came up to defeat any hope of radar locking onto their nearly nonexistant radar return. Both planes tore through the fleet at almost wave top height. Opening their bombbay doors they released their bombs as they pulled up, just missing the carrier. The bombs however, all eight of them, continued in a straight line, right into the side of the carrier.

The bombs hit the carrier and the skyy lights up after the fires.

"WE'LL HIT!"

"Allow the AA guns to beserk (fire wildly) and get the pumps to pump out the water!"

"Gotch ya sir!"

All the men head into the guns and start firing into the air. Some of the bullets even hit their own craft.

"Keep firing men, and how are the pumps doing?"

"Okay sir, they're working as quick as they can."

"Good, sooner or later we'll hit them."
30-11-2003, 03:54
The two F-28s circled at 45,000 ft. "They're gonna burn reallll nice." Lieutenant O'Conner radioed Captain Farhorn.
"You got that right, the strike should be in missile range any second now."

Fifty miles away the clunk of missiles being released fills the night air. 312 Bloodhound cruise missiles streak at wavetop height towards their targets. Behind them came the fifty-two F-28s, bomb bays heavy with their loads of explosives.

"SIR! Theere too many of them!"

"Get into them jolly boats! Stick a branch in the trigger of the AA guns to keep them firing, and get those U-Boats to the nearest dock and let them destroy everything."

"YES SIR!"
01-12-2003, 04:17
Captain Farhorn watched as missile after missile slammed into the small fleet. When it appeared that all the ships were bruning nicely he and Lieutenant O'Conner dropped down to wavetop level and went into VTOL mode. Noting the many pirates in the water he put in a call to the nearby 45th fleet. Word came back that a group of cruisers was being dispatched to collect the survivors.

Out of the mass of ships that was the 45th fleet four Franklin class crusiers broke from the formation and proceeded to steam at high speed towards the area. A group of F-28s from the strike force providing aircover.
