In view of recent events and the growing population and resources of the Empire, it has been determined that we should offer Protectorate Status to nations. The Empire does so to increase stability, improve trade, and to generally work for the welfare of the region and the world at large.
The terms of Protecterate Status are:
1) A population under one hundred million (100,000,000)
2) A general desire among the people for said status.
3) A public agreement to honor the Laws of the Empire
4) If Protectorate Status is given, a nation shall receive the following: Defensive forces of the Empire, a promise of defense from the Empire, economic benefits, political stability, etc. etc.
5) If status is given, the Empire will not defend an aggressor nation. If your nation launches a war of aggression, the Empire will disown your nation and leave you to your own designs.
6) The Empire assumes no responsibility for the misfortunates which might befall your nation during the course of status.
7) A monthly tribute equal to what your nation's economy can safely afford.
This status is most beneficial to small nations. Your nation will be protected from foreign aggressors, it will be protected from dissident elements from within. Your economy will be bolstered by that of the Empire. It should be noted that the Empire of Akiliam is benevolent and will not force or coerce any nation into such status. The choice is yours.
