Scientist reported missing...

27-11-2003, 14:35
Fearing what his government might do with it's new arsenal, scientist Dr. Theo Crim reported to an undisclosed source within the U.N. that his governement has begun to stockpile chemical and biological agents.

Further attempts by the U.N. to contact Dr. Crim for exact quantities and locations of these stockpiles have been unsuccessful. The U.N. is concerned that Dr. Crim has been imprisoned, or worse, assassinated in order to keep this information from getting out to the rest of the world.

Vizzen -
If this scientist was working for your country, you've just admitted that you are stockpiling chemical and biological weapons. In that case, you are in clear violation of our war charter, and that of the DeChristopherillian convention, (Which your nation did not sign). Any further production will result in a swift and predictable attack.

In the Un the Lapse member heard of the scientists escape and betrayal of their nation. The member immediatly reported it to the ruler of Lapse.

Supreme overlord Time Lapse disclosed the following statement:
"Our nation has reason to believe that the nation of Vizzen holds biological and chemical weapons. From the data we have recieved they seem very primitive relative to todays standards. These results may not be conclusive though. If we find clear evidence that Vizzen has commited crimes against humanity in possesing these weapons, we will formally lodge a request. If ammendments are not made we will take more drastic action"
27-11-2003, 16:27
Jonathan Swift, Vizzen Minister of Foreign Affairs releases the following statement to the media.

We understand the concerns by the rest of the world and assure you that we are not stockpiling chemical or biological weapons. The items in question are merely pesticides used by our agricultural industry.

We bear no ill will towards Dr. Crim, but instead appluad him for his courage to go forward with what he percieved as a threat. Had he taken the time to investigate further however, Dr. Crim would have realised these chemicals were not meant as weapons.

As for Dr. Crim's disappearance, we have no knowledge of where he was, but we are glad he has turned up unharmed. Let me state again we bear no ill will towards Dr. Crim and invite him to return home to Vizzen and rejoin his family, and continue his outstanding work.

Jonathan Swift, Vizzen Minister of Foreign Affairs releases the following statement to the media.

We are pleased to welcome home Dr. Crim. We assure Dr. Crim and the rest of the world that this incident will not be held agaisnt Dr. Crim and he may return to his previous duties immidiately.

Dear Dr. Crim [Please Forward]-
We're glad to hear that you're home. After reading up on you, we've discovered that you are the foremost leading scientist around. We would like to pay you quadruple what Vizzen is paying you if you will agree to work on our latest weapons program. You will be given citizenship, an estate, and prestige. Please consider our offer.

This is Veronica Chu reporting for Vizzen World News. At approximately 11:20pm authorities were called to the scene of a single vehicle accident outside the capital. Dr. Theo Crim, a world renowned scientist was found dead at the scene. No witnesses have come forward, and officials report that a strong pressense of alcohol could be smelled on Dr. Crim and inside the vehicle.

Hey, this is DJ Moondog on Pirate Radio OOOoowwww You know I've been saying for a couple of days now that Crim's death was no accident like the government would have us believe. Crim found something he shouldn't have and reported it. The government is trying to downplay the whole thing but I think there's a coverup going on.

We've just mobilized our air force to begin strikes over Vizzen and our Navy will be stationed off coast.

Sanchezium News Network, Sanchez City,
"We're here at Esquebar air base near the Bay of Elafo. We were just speaking with commander Hal Jordan about the new attack helicopters they recieved. Commander Jordan, how classified is this?"
"Well, to tell you the truth, I..." a man leans over his shoulder before he can finish. He turns back to the camera frantically. "I'm sorry, I'll have to get back to you on that..." he stood up and ran off.
The reporter came back on. "Well, we'll certainly have to get back on him, but there seems to be..."
The loudspeaker was blaring, saying, "This is Secretary of War, Archer Van Long. Your unit is being mobilized. You will be briefed in flight. Thank you."
The reporter was shocked. "It seems the air forces are leaving, but we don't yet know why..."
Three Military Police tackle the reporter and get him in a full nelson. He is led out of range of the camera, and the camera is shut off.

Sanchezian strike fighters are streaming over Vizzen, running strafing runs up and down important highways while they wait for the esquedrills of bombers to flank in...

This is Veronica Chu reporting for Vizzen World News. Hours ago, fighters from Sanchezium invaded Vizzen air space and began firing on targets. At this time, 26 deaths have been reported along with 37 wouned. All are civillians. Minister of Foreign Affaris, Jonathan Swift and Minsiter of Defence, Arnold Rupurt are about to make a joint statement. We now send you to the live press conference.

Reporter: Mr. Rupurt are the allegations made by Sanchezium true?

Defence Minister: Absolutely not. This attack on us by Sanchezium is unprovoked and unjustified. Minister Swift has already reported that we do not possess chemical or biological weapons.

Reporter: What do you say to the allegations made by the late DJ Moondog, who accused the government of a coverup on this issue? And to follow up, how do you explain his apparent assassination while he was braodcasting live?

Jonathan Swift: First let me address the second part of your question. What happened to DJ Moondog is extremely unfortuante but the government had nothing to do with it. Moondog was a conspiracy theorist and has made many allegations about the government, none of them being true might I add. He has made accusations agaisnt others as well though, including more than one crime syndicate. We are currently investigating this tragic situation and will do all that we can to bring his murderers to justice. We can not allow such people to thrive among us.

Reporter: Will you retaliate against Sanchezium?

Minsiter Rupert: We will defend our sovereign territory but we will not attack Sanchezium beyond our borders. We insist that Sanchezium stop this unprovoked attack. As a member of the U.N. they should not be allowed to just attack any nation they wish without any sort of proof of wrong doing. We demand that the U.N. step in and put a stop to this Sanchezium invasion. They have already killed innocent civillians and destroyed vital infrastructure. We demand that Sanchezium be made to pay us for damages and loss of life.

Enraged by the whole ordeal Minister Rupurt walks out of the room. Minister Swift follows closely behind
28-11-2003, 00:31
"Mother of pearl, Van Long, get your @$$ in here!"
"Yes, your majesty?"
"Was that attack unprovoked?"
"Well, we heard about the slaying and assu...."
"Don't tell me you're assumed. Call off the airstriked right now but remain on alert."
"Yes sir." He stormed out, head low.

Rupurt and Swift rush into President Finn Sadal's office

Rupurt: Sorry to just barge in Sir, but Sanchezium has called off it's air strikes and is standing down.

President: Excellent. What about our demands for restitution?

Swift: No word yet Sir.

President Sadal is quiet for a moment then leans back in his overstuffed leather chair... Anything else gentlemen?

Swift: Well Sir, they demand to send inspectors in. They say if we refuse they'll resume the attack.

President Sadal laughs. They won't attack. The U.N. won't sanction an attack without just cause and Sanchez would be a fool to order his troops in without U.N. approval. Stall them, but make it look like we're cooperating and continue to press the U.N. to approve restitution payments for our destroyed infrastructure.

Swift and Rupurt: Yes Sir.

FROM President Finn Sadal
TO the nations of Lapse and Sanchezium and all members of the U.N.

We can not allow aggressive forces into our sovereign territory. Both are members of the U.N. and should not be allowed to bully smaller nations into compliance with the threat of war. This act of aggression you are about to take has not been sanctioned by the U.N. If the U.N. can not or will not control it's members, then what purpose does the U.N. serve

I call upon the rest of the U.N. members to intervene and stop this act of unprovoked aggression. The ILLEGAL acts about to be committed by Lapse and Sanchezium will not only reflect badly on them, but on the U.N. as a whole.

I implore the U.N. to bring these two nations under control and follow the proper course of action needed to resolve this situation.
28-11-2003, 01:28
We believe you are in clear objection to the resolution that prohibits nuclear, biological, and chemical agents. Thus, we have full power to send in a team of inspectors as of now. We DO NOT want to go to war. If we find you have these listed agents, our prime objective will be to remove them from your country as soon as possible.

As we have stated previously, we do not possess chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.

The U.N. resolution you refer to prohibits the possession of such weapons by U.N. members. However, the nation of Vizzen is not yet a member of the U.N. so this resolution does not apply to us.

Entering our nation by force without provocation is an illegal act. Using the threat of war in order to get us to comply to a resolution we did not sign is an illegal act. Until you bring this before the U.N. and have these actions approved, it is you sir who are committing crimes against humanity. You have already murdered 40 innocent civillians. How many more innocent people must die at your hand because you refuse to use reason, but instead choose force?

(Emperor Elafo Sanchez calls up Vizzen)
Let me be very honest here. I have nothing against killing civilians if it will get to the cause. I realize you might not have it but I can't trust you. I will take this before the UN, but just be aware that if we get any instance where it becomes prevalent, we WILL attack regardless of the vote before the UN. There are certain ramafacations of this matter we are willing to accept. If I have to, I will authorize a full complete attack on your land and I will not stop until that weaponry is vaporized or in the hands of a nation who can wield them. Some call me ruthless, I call myself effective. Let's be resonable men and we can come to a clean and safe decision. There is another blade to the sword here. If I bring this to the UN, they will do the exact same thing and send in an inspection team. This team will indubidubly find the weapons or not. Either way, you can face inspection. It will be a terrible grilling if you are not a UN member nation, however. Now you'll say the UN can't come into my country because I'm not a member. Well, then, they cannot make a decision and they leave the legislation up to the only state that has flown over your territory and thus had the greatest knowledge of it - that being me, from an intelligence standpoint even though we have no factual intelligence of your nation. Lets not get into this - please allow our team of inspectual delegates in. They will be arriving on your docks in an hour or so. Thank you.

The team was about to attach to the dock when Archer Van Long, only thirty eight, was shot and fell to the water. He had been standing on the front of the boat, and, I'm sorry..." newscaster whipes a tear from his face. "He was ready to accept freedom with the country. He carried in his pocket a warcharter and a ceasefire agreement..." he whipes another tear. "Also today," he is completely broken down on the desk and can barely speak. "Emperor Elafo Sanchez withdraws all forces from Vizzen. No one is sure who did the assassination, and the new Secretary of War, Stanley Norse, says Vizzen does not appear to have any role in this. No one else..." he shakes his head. "Was harmed in this tragedy."
28-11-2003, 02:23
I am a man of reason and have no doubt that you are well. Let me reiterate that we do not have any weapons of mass destruction. That being said, I will allow U.N. inspectors from a sanctioned U.N. member. however, it must be a team from a nation other than Sanchezium or Lapse. The reason I insist on this if purely for your safety. The citizens of Vizzen are outraged and I cannot guarantee the safety of any teams from either of your nations. Surely you can see why I must insist upon this. If the angerd mob attacks your team, you will use this as an excuse to invade. Therefore you must ask the U.N. to send in a 3rd impartial party.

President Finn Sadal looks up from a report recently received from Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jonathan Swift as the door to his office opens.

He's expecting us. grumbles Minsiter of Defence Arnold Rupurt as he steps into the office followed by another man. I got Gaheris here as soon as I could Sir.

The president stands and greets the man coming into the office behind Rupurt. Ben, good to see you. Sorry we had to cut your operations in Creegin short, but we need you for something else. He gestures toward the report in his hand.

Ben Gaheris shakes the president's hand. I hear the Inspection team is already here. Who is commanding the security escort?

Rupurt clears his throat. Major Edwards

Gaheris smiles. Edwards. He's a good man. He'll make sure everything runs smoothly. So where am I needed?

President Sadal hands Gaheris the report he's been holding. As Ben begins to read, the president walks back to his overstuffed leather chair and sits down. I'm meeting with the inspection team soon, so let's get right to it. We need you to resolve the issues in that report. I know this is short notice, but this takes priority over all your other missions. The navy seized an abandoned Alpha Cluster 7 fishing boat earlier. It's in the harbour now. Until we can get rid of them take this time to prepare the boat and assemble your team.

I'll have things ready to go when you give the order sir.

OOC: Sanchezium hasn't posted since Nov. 28 on this thread, in order to continue or resolve the situation that had developed between our two nations, but has been active as recently as 1 day ago. Therefore the following has happened...

The Sanchezium inspection team meets with President Sadal to discuss the terms of the inspection. Both sides agree on a reasonable course of action and the team begins it's inspection. After several days the team finishes it's inspection, unable to find any chemical or biological weapons and returns home.

After receiving the inspection team's report, the Sanchezium government offers to pay the government of Vizzen one hundred million dollars for violating it's air space without cause, killing innocent Vizzen civillians and the destruction of roads and other infrastructure.
