I'm new
Hey, i'm new to nationstates, and i'm wondering what i can do on it.
Anyone from scotland?
:D
beware, nation states isn't a very friendly bunch, if you're a noob they'll treat you like crap in mostly every situation:
Postin a message in a forum
trying to role play
or simply asking for help
etc...
it's a hard wolrd for newcomers...

1. Use proper grammar. People will respect you.
2. Read the "Read This First" thread at the top of the NationStates forum and obey what you read in the links within!
Welcome to NS!

There are several things you can do. There's RPing in the forums, in which you are a nation (obviously) and you act as your nation (see the New to NationStates sticky in the NationStates forum for more details). There's also the in-game stuff in which you can play with regions (see the FAQ for more details).
There are Scottish players. In fact, one of the mods (Sirocco) is Scottish. I've also noted that there is a region "Scotland"...you might want to ask there for more information.
Welcome to NationStates!
This has been an OOC post.

Here's a handy tool for you. It calculates peoples' national and military budgets for you.

Welcome aboard Bzooty. So, new here, eh? If you're looking to settle into a region with players who are relatively new and who are willing to help by forging an alliance with others, you may wish to check out Ragnarok Apocalypse. I'm inviting you to my region because many of us still remember what it was like to be the n00b and be snubbed by the others who had been around for a while.

Well you can do just about anything you like on the NS boards as long as it complies with the general accepted standards, there is loads of info on this but it boils down to : be nice, think about what you are going to post, then think again before finally posting and above all remeber the NS boards are a comunal experience and the rewards tend to relate directly to the effort you put in.
As to scotish players there are a reasonably large number of active scots
there is/was a scottish alliance but it wasn't terribly active and is too far back for the search engine to find it's thread. There are numerous scottish regions (scotland, glasgow and edinburgh being 3 main ones but there are others).
Anyway i'm scottish and play a vaguely scottish nation (that is located on an island in the middle of the north atlantic).

Welcome to NationStates. The people on these forums have every right to be a little unfriendly to nOObs, considering the amount of them we get everyday. My advice to you right now is in the mean time, do not wage any wars, at all unless your being attacked by another nation(s) and you are not the instigator of the conflict. To prevent that, try to get on everyone's good side in the early years of your nation.
Also, Spam is a major no no anywhere. Please refrain from the evil that is:

Proper grammar and spelling can go a long way towards earning respect. Also, try and be realistic in your capablities (for example, don't say you have a 20,000,000 man army when you only have 5,000,000 people in your country, etc.)
