Looking for land weapons

25-11-2003, 16:50
In these hard times it's good to be able to defend yourself. Therefor the Kingdom of Bengtsson is spending more money on the defense. Unfortunate, the kingdome can't produce the arms by it self and need to import them.

So we are looking for ground vehicles, Surface-to-Air systems and Soldier arms.

If you need an infantry rifle look no further then the ACR-20. The most accurate rifle ever made.

http://remtek.com/arms/steyr/acr/acr.jpg

Caliber: 5.6 mm fleschette or regular 5.6mm ball ammo
Action: Gas operated, rising breech
Overall length: 620mm
Barrel length: 540 mm
Weigth: 3.23 kg w/ magazine
Rate of fire: 600-800 rounds per minute
Magazine capacity: 25, 30, 35 rounds
Maximum Effective Range: 600m

The ACR-20 is a revolutionary new assault rifle developed by Johnistani Defense Industries. The new 5.6mm fleschette ammo leaves the barrel at an impressive 1450m/s. The fleschette is about 5.5mm in diameter and is partially enclosed in the 5.6mm sabot. Because of the fast flight time the gun is extremely accurate, giving the shooter almost ray gun like ability. The bullpup design and light ammo weight gives the gun low recoil. The gun retains much stopping and penetrating power because of the very high velocity.

The ACR-20 comes with a 3x magnifacation scope as a standered feature. This scope provides an excellent sight picture in the worst of condition. The scope can be fitted with IR or nightvision capabilities. New scopes can be added with ease. Under the barrel there are nooks where a grenade launcher or other accesories can be added.

Cost: 900 USD

But I'll give you a discount for 750 USD.

OOC: You're absolutely wrong about the stopping power. With a thin flechette going at those speeds, stopping power is virtually nil. It will have good penetration, but the energy is so concentrated that it will slice right through without having any other effect. Generally speaking, the higher the penetration, the lower the stopping power.
The round will also cause only minimal damage to the target due to the small size, and you can empty a full magazine into an enemy soldier without him falling down (or even dying for that matter).

Remember that even 5.56mm rounds have been found to be sorely lacking in stopping power, which meant that enemy troops take far more shots and time to take down, increasing the chance of them injuring allied troops. This is taking the same features that make the 5.56mm round so poor in that area, and increasing them to the extreme. 5.56mm rouns also only cause acceptable damage due to the tendency to tumble after hitting a target. A hypervelocity flechette won't have that tendency, and even if it did, it's still too small.

To simplify things a bit. The more concentrated the energy from a round is, the higher the penetration. The less concentrated it is, the higher the stopping power. Take a look at it. The rounds with the highest stopping power are the ones that have blunt or flat tips (look at .45 ACP and magnum pistol rounds). The smaller you go, the lower the stopping power.

This says different
http://www.mindspring.com/~ulfhere/ballistics/wounding.html

But if you're right what would you do to increase the stopping power but keep the velocity and penetration.

I know the Germans did something to the barrels of their G3s to get the 7.62x51mm round to tumble just like a 5.56mmx45 round. Maybe I could do that here?

hence why use 6.25mm rounds still not as nasty as say a pistol round but the best comprimise round around.

Anyway if Bengtsson is still looking for equipment i would liek to direct you to our website, it contains a pretty much complete range of things you could possibly need to start an armed forces.

It's only slightly different, but all the problems I mentioned are reinforced.
According to this, it would be impossible for your flechette to generate a lethal wound without a perfect brain or spinal hit. Note that he stated that 5.56mm cartridges were just barely effective against light big game (100-200 lbs, about the range of a human), and military standard rounds don't deform like hunting ones due to international regulation.
You also have absolutely nothing in there that backs up the stopping power. What I call stopping power, he attributes to blunt trauma. Either way, you don't have it.

The end result you have is a weapon that's near useless because even a highly skilled sniper can't achieve the accuracy you need to take someone down with the weapon. In the hands of regular troops, it's virtually useless.

I already said that the round is just too small. Even if it were to tumble, it still would be incapable of generating a lethal wound.

Ive got ATT-14s for sale:
An armoured personnel carrier of the new generation- ATT-14 has four types of weapons installed. These are an automatic gun, a machine-gun, a grenade launcher and anti-tank missiles. This makes it possible to wage a fight against tanks, artillery pieces, mechanised infantry, helicopters and manpower of an enemy at a distance of over 4 kilometres both from a position and moving. The high weight-carrying capacity and considerable inner capacity (14 cubic meters) of the eight-wheel ATT-14 allow transport of heavier weapons, such as an anti-tank gun, a 120-millimetre artillery piece, anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles. ATT-14 can move at a speed of 110 kilometres per hour on roads and over 60km/h on highly broken ground. It can move even if four wheels have been damaged. ATT-14 can move across water. It can easily travel aboard and off a landing ship. ATT-14 is equipped with an automatic control system to carry out an effective control of the transmission and engine and other vitally important parts of the machine. It has a crew of three and can carry EW systems or 8/10 fully equipped troops as well as SAM’s.
Crew: 3
Weight: 60,000lbs
Obstacle grade: 1 m

Relic Regional Storefront (http://www.freewebs.com/bluebomber/index.htm)

A fairly all-emcompassing storefront that recieves far less attention than it deserves.

All the items are desgined to work towards an overall goal, unlike many storefronts that just sell whatever they think looks best, with little consideration of combined-arms tactics. Many of the items on sale also have unique special features that actually serve a useful purpose, once again contrary to the popular trend of piling stats on to something to make it sell. Nearly everything on the storefront is EMP and NBC hardened, an oft overlooked concept(and surprising considering all the n00ks floating around).

Overall a very wise choice to newcomers and veterans alike looking for intelligent weapon systems and good prices.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I'd like to highlight one of our coolest products:
RIW-5 Assault Rifle(first pic) (http://www.freewebs.com/bluebomber/storefrontweapons.htm)
The only assault rifle in NS with the ability to accept almost any type of ammo! This assault rifle can easily be incorporated beside your current one, as it can use the same ammo. Its ability to use different ammos lets you use captured munitions easily.
1) Quick change barrel systems lets you use almost any ammo. Carry around the right size barrel, and you can use the corresponding ammo. Obviously it works with any assault rifle ammo, as that was what the original design called for; however, its ability doesn't end there. Pistol ammo has been fired through it. Full size rifle ammo has been fired through it (with 30.06 it has been described as reminiscent of firing a BAR from WW2 era, but more accurate). With a smoothbore barrel, we have even gotten 12-gauge out of it. This flexibility means you can switch ammo as you switch tasks!
2) The clamp and reciever are one in the same, and resize to fit new sizes of magazine. Pulling back on a lever causes the device to dilate to its maximum, at which point you put in the magazine. Releasing the lever causes the assembly to grip the magazine in place, ready for firing. This process only needs to be repeated when changing to new magazine types, once it is fit to a certain type of magazine it retains that shape until a new one is desired. The gun can accept box or belt styles magazines, unfortunetly drums and more obscure types are impossible.
Range: Dependant on ammo type.
Magazine Capacity: whatever compatible magazine is being used
Firing Modes: Safety, Semi, Burst(3), and Auto(800 cyclic)
Features List:
-Ambidextrous, adjustable without tools by user.
-Waterproof.
-The inside is coated with teflon, so the gun never needs oiling.
-Super tough! It has a dense polymer outside strong enough to protect it from repeated sledgehammer impacts. This gun is tougher than an AK series, and can be fired after presumeably decades of full combat wear and tear.
-Inside there is a tiny bell made of heat sensitive metal, it serves the purpose of distinguishing betwen friend or foe when firing different calibers, and to audibly warn you when the gun starts to overheat(like say after firing an entire 200 round MG box).
$400
Additionally we sell a
Multiscope
4x zoom dot scope, with lowlight filtering. Has a targetting computer designed for the airburst mode of the GUG4 Multipurpose Grenade
Wel, I dont have a picture of my Thoenix tank, but it is armored with a new metal we have developed called Tritanium, which is very strong, yet it is very light. Also, the armaments consist of a rotating gun on the turret of the tank, and our latest in plasma weaponry, which is effective against anything.
