im curious as to what forms of artificial gravity exist in the space tech nations... other than the obvious one of spinning....

We use Magnetic Distorters that emulate natural gravitational forces, following the assumption that gravity can be influenced by magnets, it shouldn't be hard to create a 1 G environment by having electro magnets through the hull of the ship.

So we'll assume none of you uniforms contain metal, personnal have metal , you use no electronic equipment...?

this is actually for here - cause i will be using it here later (and didnt want complaints)... but if it should move, then it should move...

Didn't realise, sorry.

They are Unobtanium Magnets

so long as it doesn't effect anyone else, thats my generic answer from here out. Weapons, shielding and armor are a different story, if its something that is going to effect others then I'll figure something else out.

I'm not a space nation, but I do think about these things when I have time on my hands...

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to emulate gravity except spinning sections or magnetic boots unless you can manipulate quantum effects. I understand the going theories on gravity are the bent-space theory (which means no gravity for you) or the graviton theory... which might be fun if you could create graviton emitters spewing out artificial gravitons. You could have a big omnidirectional one (which would make a spherical station) or ones set into the "bottom" of the ship/station, very close together (though this would likely mean that the upper decks would be much lower gravity than the lower ones).

Hope this helps,

Loup

ooc// ya... the problem i have is i cant spin, cause its got my space elevator attached, which probably shouldnt spin, so far i have considered trying to spin the rock around the elevator, without actually spinning the elevator - this creates a problem of how to mate the two... i was hoping to either find/buy/steal the tech off someone else....

Imperial Graviton engines-Generate a center of energy that produces gravity on the ship, and at the same time propels the craft forward by refracting the most powerful magnet ever off of the nearest star or planet.

However, scince on ship recently caused a supernova by accident (oops...), TIN is now adopting a gravwell generator, and switching to less dangerous Plasma engines.

I'm also doing a space elevator...but Wazzu is trying to stop me (fat chance :P ). Spinning the asteroid is impossible...but build a structure out from it with rings attached to it, spin the rings there you have gravity.

Screw it, as far as I’m concerned I am sticking to much simpler principals of not bothering with gravity generators and instead just having seat belts and handle bars around the ships I use. The faster ships are the fighters and corvettes so there is no issue about what to do there (they are in a seat like fighter pilots). The larger ships don’t go so fast and just require a little bit of a grip when accelerating. It may not be comfortable, but it is cheap.

If you didn’t guess, Iuthia is a near future tech nation and we’ve yet to get rid of some of the bugs in our ships. The biggest issue was the damn G-forces that our people have to take… as such we’ve invented some kind of cool technological device that works very much like a inertial dampener which I don’t care to explain.

To put it simply, I can’t… I only have enough knowledge of physics to know that I don’t know enough to try and guess how to make one; people don’t like it when you use techno-babble that doesn’t actually work. I do know however that if I don’t have them my men and women get turned into really thin wafers when I accelerate at high speeds.

my asteroid is 80x20x20Km so that wont work.... i like some so far - anyone want to trade? i have a shitload of money... :-)
