PARLIAMENT VOTES ON INVASION OF TYRANTIAN TOMMOROW

Evidence was released three hours ago by the Department of Intelligence showing that the AAA, or Armed Association of Annihilation, the organization responsible for today's four terrorist attacks that resulted in the death of 421 and the wounding of thousands more, was connected to the secret service of Tyrantian, known as the Elite Force of Tyrantian.

According to this evidence, the EFT trained and armed the AAA as a force for pursuing Tyrantian's interests, and harbors them to this day. A team of ten Parliament members, composed of three Labor representatives, three United Democratic Party representatives, two Progressive Party representatives, and two Patriot Party representatives, concluded that the evidence was "almost certainly" correct.

Immediately, a number of Labor, UDP, and Patriot Party parliament members wrote a bill calling for an invasion of Tyrantian unless Tyrantian turns over the terrorists they are harboring and gives Militanar "all the intelligence they have" about the group and its operations.

The UDP and the Patriot Party are supporting the bill. Labor is split in to over this war, with some, such as the President and the Minister of Defense, saying that this war is neccesary for national security, while others, such as Parliament member Diana Syrin, are opposed to it. The Progressive Party is wholly against it.

Most analysts predict that the bill will pass. Progressive Party leader Sarah Desionpar, however, says that they will fight to the bitter end to stop it. "We cannot approve of slaughter," she said, "nor will we cease to oppose it, whatever the odds. At the very least, our voice will be remembered and noted."

TROOPS MASS ON TYRANTIAN'S BORDER

In preperation for war, over four hundred thousand Militanaran troops have been mobilized and sent to the border. The Militanaran Fleet is expected to launch a blockade when the war begins.

Most analysts predict that there are two possible outcomes:

A. A quick, decisive Militanaran victory through Tyrantian's approval of Militanaran demands in the face of force early on.

B. A long war, though still resulting in Militanar's victory.

Very few predict a victory by Tyrantian, unless it finds a few powerful allies.

An anti-war protest is scheduled for the time of voting tomorrow.

I, Militanar's president, request that the international community not get involved in this matter. To those seeking to intervene on Tyrantian's behalf, we ask you to consider that the threat of the AAA is to all nations and not simply ours. Perhaps yours will be next. We are doing the world, as well as our country, a service by doing this.

The People's Republic of Darranack will remain neutral in this war. Though we understand the Federation of Militanar's need to defend itself, we cannot support war.

We strongly condemn the actions of terrorism that were committed against the Federation of Militanar, and we condemn the government of Tyrantian as well for aiding them in their quest.

We are, of course, hoping for the Federation of Militanar's victory, though we shall not get involved.

Perhaps an unbiased investigation of the terrorist organization by a nuetral country would be beneficial to this situation rather than settling it by going to war and destroying eachother and killing thousands of people? We see the reports and investigations by the government of Militanar as propaganda to start a war with the nation of Tyrantian.

We suggest that both nations stand down and attempt to settle this dispute through negotiation and a proper investigation, otherwise Aequatian Republic Military Forces will intervene and save everybody the time by completely destroying both nations and imprisoning the leaders of each nation.

If you seek to destroy us, we will of course respond, but what do you say to to Progressive Party representatives, representatives from one of the most dovish parties in our nation, agreeing that the evidence is conclusive (though at the same time refusing to endorse the war)?

What do you say to the Darranackan government's approval of the evidence (see above post condemning Tyrantian), despite the fact that they are also dovish to an extreme?

The Labor Party itself, to which I belong, has commonly opposed wars that were proposed by the United Democratic Party and the Patriot Party, including another war against Tyrantian suggested a long time ago. The evidence in this case, however, is conclusive and we must do what we must to protect our nation.

I hate war. War is a great evil, a blight upon our planet. However, now I have no other options.

What can we do besides go to war? Ignore this threat to our national security? How can we negotiate with those who harbor terrorists? They deny everything; they do not want negotiation, they want ignorance of the situation. The EFT and the AAA are a threat to the national security of every nation on this planet except Tyrantian itself.

An estimated eight hundred innocents are murdered every week by the actions of the Tyrantian government.

And the above does not include their association with brutal regimes that in the past have earned the ire of the international community.

OOC: You see, I have a liberal's suspicion of ABM systems of any kind.

I don't see how any ABM system could stop a volley of, say, five hundred or so. Why wouldn't a nation that has such a high priority on defense as mine (it isn't named Militanar for nothing) possess a large cache of nuclear weapons? So we come back to MAD.

But this is getting rather off-topic. Now that the truce is secured, I'm off to bed.
