This land is my land, this land is your land (Closed RP)
Onboard the colony ship Magellan, Arthur Nash thought about the new life the gods had given him. A few weeks earlier, he had lost his house in a fire. Since he had worked from his home, designing materials and devices for the Exploratory Branch of the Guanyan Navy, he had lost both his home and his designs, his livelihood, at the same time. The next two weeks had been a nightmare for him, and for his family. He had not had much money saved up, so it had been difficult for them to get food without resorting to charity, which they were far too proud to do.
Then his former contact with the Navy, Colonel Kinnon, had come to him with an offer. The Guanyan government was looking for volunteers to act as inhabitants for a new planet they had set up for colonization. If he accepted, he would be paid well and have the chance to start a new life. He didn’t have to think about it. He had accepted immediately.
Now he and his family, along with some four hundred other families, were about to find out what their new home was like. From orbit, it looked beautiful, rolling plains dotted with huge, majestic trees. The surface seemed to be about 40% water. He wondered if there were any small, furry animals on the planet. He had always wanted a kitten.
Life was wonderful for three months. The world was ideal for crops AND industrialization, and his neighbors were good people. He even found a small furry animal that was about as cute as anything he had ever seen, and seemed quite docile and friendly.
Then, one day, a communication from orbit changed everything…
The GKC Syren, on a routine patrol through one of the many unpopulated Klonor systems, speeds out of the Sub-Space node and slowly begins to scan the system. However, the routine scans yields some very unusual results.
"Sir, we have some anomolous readings!"
"What kind? Another pirate raid? Those things are getting to be an irritant."
"No, sir. it looks like a small colony on the 4'th planet. I'm reading 1,400 to 1,500 life forms. It looks like they've been there for a while."
"Great. This stuff always happens on my watch. Open a channel to whatever government they have down there."
"Channel open, sir."
"This is Captain Hortense of the GKC Syren. You are trespassing in Klonor territory. We demand your immediete evacuation, and the removal of all items. Refusal shall be met with extreme force."
(This takes place about 3 minutes after the Klonor transmission, the Governor of the colony having conferred with his staff and sent a quick message to the Guanyan capital requesting assistance.)
"This is the Governor of the Guanyan colony here on the planet. We have been here for three months and have seen no sign of inhabitants or any indication that this planet is claimed by any previous owner. We are not going to simply pack up and leave because some ship shows up and tells us to. We have lives here!"
(Transmission ended)
"Gunayu? ****! That's all we need, some pathtic wannabe ally stepping on toes. Re-open transmission."
Transmission re-opened
"The Tau Ceti system has been claimed by the Klonor Empire for years. We've run innumerous mining and research operations here. You don't want to leave? We can make you leave. Got that?"
(Transmission ended)
"Gunayu? ****! That's all we need, some pathtic wannabe ally stepping on toes.
OOC: I resent that. You could at least spell the name right when you insult me. :D
OOC: The point is to illustrate the captains disrespect for your nation
The Governor talking to his staff:
"Gentlemen, ladies, we have a fleet of reinforcements coming but they will take a few hours to get here even at top speed. If we can stall for a few hours then we will be in a much better bargaining position. With that in mind, I am going to send another transmission to the Klonor ship now."
(Activating comm unit) "Klonor vessel, I will need to talk to the colonists about this. In three hours you will have your response. Tau Ceti 4 out."
"What's there to talk about? Just get the hell off our planet!"
Transmission terminated
"If they're not already packing up in three hours I'm gonna have a few things to say. And so will my Beams"
OOC: The story would be that they need three hours because they need to get a ship to come pick them up. Otherwise, how in the hell would they get off-planet?
IC: Three hours later:
"Damn it all! Where are those ships? We're pushing the three hour limit every second we remain here! Our lives are in-"
"Mr. Governor, I think they've arrived. There are three Scimitars (OOC: A standard GAN Taskforce) approaching orbit."
"About time."
In orbit, transmission from lead Scimitar to the Klonor ship:
"Klonor vessel, this is the GANS Goethe. Please identify yourself and explain to me why you are threatening Guanyan citizens before I blow you out of space for your insolence and send the remains of your ship back to the Duke as an apology."
The Leviathan cruiser rotates in space to face the oncoming ships.
"This is the GDC Syren. Your "citizens" are trespassing in Klonor territory, and robbing a mining planet of its materials. You are to take them, and their entire godforsakken city, off this planet ASAP or we'll have an Orion here to blow the whole thing into one very large hole."
Gesturing the entire time, to illustrate his point, he throws in one last violent hand movement, this time a signal to the communications officer.
The officer, seeing the signal, sends a Sub-Space message to Gamma Draconis informing them of the situation and requesting reinforcements.
GDC Syrup, with all undue respect, mining planet my ass. There is NOTHING technological on this planet but our colony. I don't recognize your claims to the world, and your manner and face offend me. Leave our space now or I will order my gunners to blow you into particles so small even Electro-phasic microscopes won't be able to distinguish you from space dust.
(OOC: Since the Scimitar has the same approximate place in my fleet that the Orion does in yours, and there are three of them present, he isn't concerned by your threat much.)
"Is that a threat? Well, let's see what my friends have to say about that."
At that exact moment a Sub-Space node flares open and out launches 3 Hecate class Destroyers, flanked by a pair of Orions.
The lead ship, the GDD Aquitane hails the Guanyan vessels.
"GANS Goat, this is the GDD Aquitane, we have you outnumberd and outgunned. This system has been claimed by Klonor for years. Your government has been informed of it many times. We will give you ten minutes to begin evacuation procedures, or that colony will go up in smoke. Do you copy that?"
(Reinforcements requested)
"If our government had been aware of ANY claims to this system then this colony wouldn't be here. I can repeat that for you more slowly if you like, GDD Antiquity. Has it seeped into your tiny brains yet that the colonists don't even have a means for getting off-planet? You expect them to just disappear? Or am I giving you too much intellectual credit by assuming you even thought of that?"
"Unless I'm mistaken, you've got three rather large ships just floating in orbit. Since they're not good for much of anything else, why not have them send down some shuttles to pick up the cancer..... I mean the colonists."
He leans off to the side as he check a computer and leans back.
"And your government has been informed of Klonor's position on this system( I mdae a bunch of threads about it). Come, only 7 minutes left. My gunners are getting rather itchy."
"As are mine. If I didn't have far more respect for your Duke than I do for his armed forces, your Leviathan would have been leaking plasma long before you got here. But that isn't the point. These are warships, unlike the piles of junk you command. I don't have room for 1500 civilians onboard, and if I did regulations wouldn't allow me to take them. Unless you want to limp home to your duke and explain why you started a war you can't win, I suggest you back off."
"War we can't win? I wonder, which of us lost almost a dozen ships in that last war with Dying Camels? And we outgun and outnumber you right now, I suggest you back down. If you truly can't hold a measly 1,500 people on three ships, then call back to Guanyu Theta for some transports. 3 Minutes left, what's your decision?"
You mean the two ships that were sacrificed to prevent DC's fleet from reaching your installation in the war where we scared off DC before he could destroy your fleet and installation? It seems that Klonor commanders are devoid of honor, gratitude, and mathematical ability. We will send for ships to come here for the colonists.
OOC: Nice vague phrasing there, wasn't it?
"Wise decision. We'll be expecting them."
The Klonor ships begin to take up an orbit around the planet, making sure to keep both the colony and Guanyan ships in sight.
"Oh, and recent decoding has revealed that your supposed scaring DC off was him leading you into a trap. If we hadn't managed to make peace your fleet would have been blown from here to hell."
OOC: Alright, time for some action.
IC: About twenty minutes after the last Klonor transmission, the ships arrive. They are not, however, colony ships. Two Annihilators, three Scimitars, three Silver Wolfs, and four Phoenix Hawks jump into the system ready for battle. Almost at the same instant as the arrival, four gigantic beams flash up from the planet's concealed Planetary Defense Cannons (PDCs), stabbing at the Klonor Hecates in orbit.
The defenses built into Klonor sensors take note of the incoming allied attack and open an immediete Sub-Space node on all Klonor ships. Mere fractions of a second before the PDC shots impact the destroyers they speed into Sub-Space and head back to Gamma Draconis, planning on returning in a few hours.
A few hours later.......
After the necessary briefing at Gamma Draconis the Klonor 4'th fleet leaps into Sub-Space, their desitnation: Tau Ceti.
Klonor 4'th fleet:
1 (one) Megingjard class Heavy Fire Destroyer
3 (three) Hecate class Destroyers
5 (five) Orion class Destroyers
10 (ten) Mercury class Corvettes
5 (five) Leviathan class Heavy Cruisers
and, of course, The Colossus
Meanwhile at Tau Ceti 4...
The GANS Fontenelle, a GH-WX 90a Annihilator mkII, has arrived to take command of the Tau Ceti forces.
Back at home...
The Administrator-General of Guanyu is attempting to talk to Duke Klonor and find out just what the HELL is going on.
A short, worried man steps in front the viewscreen, facing Administrator-General Karhoff of Guanyu.
"Uh.....the Duke is currently in negotiations with Vzxlack, he's unavailable at the momnt. I am the executive assistant for the undersecretary to the High Ambassador to the Outer Worlds (basically, he's the assistant to the assistant of the ambassador). How may I help you?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 4'th Fleet leaps out of SUb-Space, forming up to surround the Guanyan ships
"I know he's negotiating with Vzxlack, one of my best generals is there with him! What I want to know is why in the hell I'm having my colonies threatened and watching a full on battle go on in orbit, with an ALLY no less! So if you can't answer those questions, I suggest you refer me to someone who can!"
"Well.......I think.....let me check (he checks. He also eats some chicken and has a beer. He's a bit of a large man and doesn't skip meals, no matter what). Uh......the report says that there's a Guanyu colony in a Klonor system, and it's refusing to leave. I think a Klonor fleet is about to blow them up"
(At this point total bombardment of the Klonor capital is foremost in the Administrator-General's mind.)
"You brainless incompetent moron! If I'm not speaking to someone with more than two brain cells in the next thirty seconds, I'll see to it that you are sold to the Roanians as a torture experiment! Now get your fat ugly face, which by the way is probably interchangeable with your rear, OFF OF MY DAMN VIEWSCREEN!"
The assistant just sits there, staring in horror at the Administrator-General
"......."
He stares some more
"......."
A bit more staring
"......."
Finally, he says something
"eeep"

This land is my land, this land is your land, from the New York Islands, to the Goldstream Waaaaaaaaaaaaaateerrrs, this land was made for you and me.
Im sure I mixed up the order of the places, but whatever.
And sorry, I just had to do it! LOLZ.
I knew someone would do it eventually, at least it is over with now.

LoLz. Sorry.
"yes....wait.......uh.....here's John. He should be able to help you."
He runs off screen and dashes back, pulling a small man by the ear.
"John, this is Administrator-General Karhoff of Guanyu. Bye!"
He quickly dashes out of the room.
OOC: Let's get back to Tau Ceti. Klonor, it's your move.
The fleet, formed up around the Colossus, breaks apart and scatters.
The 3 Hecate's launch forward, their Beam Cannons clawing for the Guanyan flagship (the GANS Fontenelle I believe).
The 5 Orion's spread outwards, moving towards the sides of the Guanyan fleet in an attempt to capture the Scimitar's in a blistering crossfire.
The Leviathan's stay with the Colossus, ready to slice to pieces any ship which even comes close to the fleets Flagship.
However, it is the Megingjar which attempts to cause the serious damage. Arming it's two Harbinger Cannons it releases two Harbinger warheads at each Annihilator, seeking to blast each massive ship to itty bitty pieces.
But where are the Mercuries?
Four of the six Scimitars fall into formation around the Fontenelle to protect it. One of them catches a burst of Beam Cannon fire and is moderately damaged. Another is hit by the Orion fire and takes light damage. (Most of that barrage is wasted when the Scimitars form up around the Fontenelle, moving out of the path of the cannons.) All four return fire on the Hecates, Phased Assault Cannons and Tri-particle Cannons blasting away and Refracted Particle Cannons slicing through space at the opposing ships.
The two other Scimitars converge on the Megingjar, firing relentlessly in an attempt to take it out of the action.
The Megingjar itself, of course, might as well have not wasted it's warheads. The two Annihilators merely shrug off the attack, the warheads disappearing when they strike the ships' PDWs. (You really SHOULD have known this would happen by now.) They fire at the Orions, their weapons flashing through the space between the ships.
The three Silver Wolf destroyers take distance shots at the Leviathans, not attempting to damage the Colossus, just to take out it's escorts. In addition to the weapons carried on the Scimitars, their unique Demonfire Lasers stab out at the Klonor ships.
But where are the Phoenix Hawks? Why, patrolling the area and watching for the Mercuries of course.
I need some info before I can post damage and my response.
What type of weapons are the Phased Assault Cannons, Tri-Particle Cannons, and Refracted Particle Cannons?
How far away from the ships do PDW's shoot down missiles?
I've explained the PDWs several times, they don't shoot down anything. Here:
A block of wood can simply "sink into" a metal bar, yet neither the metal bar nor the block of wood come apart. Also, there is no evidence of displacement, such as would occur if, for example, one were to sink a stone into a bowl of water.
It is an adaptation of the described effect that allow energy to do with projectiles what the metal bar does to the block of wood in that example. I actually got the idea from the Hutchinson Effect. For all intents and purposes, the projectiles simply vanish.
Tri-particle Cannons: They fire electrons, neutrons and positrons in a stream, upon impact they react and produce massive amounts of energy in the form of pure force, beating at your ship.
Phased Assault Cannons: Rather than a single hit like the Tri-particle, they are a sustained fire weapon and instead of blunt force they shoot a wave of phased energy that cuts through just about anything.
Demonfire lasers: They are pulse lasers, they fire stuttering bursts of pure energy.
Refracted Particle Cannons: They fire tiny "energy seeds" (think photon torpedos) that explode on contact and do large amounts of damage.
Not used yet:
Hellfire cannons: They vibrate a stream of particles so severely that they actually change chemical properties and release tremendous energy that simply MELTS anything in their path. My most powerful energy weapon on capital ships.
Shatterstar Missiles: As the first missile reaches an enemy, it explodes into the starburst flash that gives the missile its name. Each additional missile increases the size and power of the explosion, creating huge star-shaped blasts that strike violently at nearby ships.
The shots spearing out from the four Scimitar's splash against the Hecate's shields, gaps appearing as some penetrate. The Tri-Particle Cannons beat into the hull, knocking holes in the armor plating and pummeling the external weapons. The Refracted Particle Cannons shower against the shields, thousands of darts being reflected back into space or detonating harmlessly. Unfortunately, thousands of more needles break through and explode against the hulls, causing innumerable small breaks. Fortunately, the Phased Assault Cannons cause the least damage, the energy merely absorbed by the energy absorbtion armor (Only the best defenses on the Hecates)
The Leviathans merely shrug off the damage, their extremely thick armor (thicker than even ships of the Destroyer class) absorbing the blows from the Tri-Particle Cannons and reflecting the needles from Refracted Particle Cannons off into space. The Phased Assault Cannons and Demonfire lasers again being absorbed by the absorbtion armor.
The Megingjar, bolstered with reflective shields, absorbtion armor, and transphasic defenses (beyond any other ship in the fleet), doesn't even acknowledge the Scimitars attack, instead arming two more Harbingers. Analysing the data from the last four missiles they set the detonators for 40 meters out from the target. Locking on, the Megingjar speeds two more Harbingers at each Annihilator.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hecates, damaged from numerically superior Scimitar's attack, press on. They release another volley (18 Beam Cannons, 90 Laser Turrets) at the Guanyu flagship.
The Orions, retargeting to compensate for Scimitar movements, fire again (25 Beam Cannons, 120 Laser Turrets)
the Colossus still remains inactive, seemingly waiting for something
The damaged Scimitar is hit in the engines with beams and loses all propulsion. It can maneuver but has no main engines. One other Scimitar takes moderate beam damage, a some Phased Assault Cannons and one Hellfire Cannon weapons are lost. (Lasers don't do much to my capital ships, you aren't the only one with energy absorbtion armor.) Two beams graze the flagship, causing cosmetic damage only. Four more, however, strike the ship directly, causing light to moderate damage on the port side and in one spot even breaching the hull where two beams strike together, though that is quickly repaired.
The Two Annihilators fire their AA cannons repeatedly, lasers and small steel projectiles streaking out to strike the harbringers. Three of the total four are destroyed at a safe distance, one gets close enough that the shockwave from its destruction blisters the hull of an Annihilator slightly, taking with it 7 AA cannons and four Tri-particle Cannons.
Meanwhile, the two Scimitars that were attacking the Megingjar switch tactics, launching nearly one hundred Shatterstar missiles at it and firing two Hellfire Cannons each at the ship, as it is now considered a threat.
The Silver Wolf destroyers leave the Leviathans alone for the moment and begin attacking the Orions, hammering them with continuous fire.
The Scimitars and Annihilators continue firing on the Hecates.
The barrage of fire coming in at the Megingjar is to much for even it's impressive defenses. The Shatterstar Missiles explode against the shields, splitting apart and releasing even more destructive energy on the already taxed emitters. The generators overload (Question: Is it just me, or in every space RP do the shields overload? They're never just blown up, or have holes blown through them, they always overload. Is there some weird overload compulsion?) letting the Hellfire shots in at the undefended armor. The shots slice into the skin, burning through meter after meter of molybdenum armor, piercing straight through to the heart of the ship. With a flash and a soundless bang it pierces the storage compartment of the Harbingers, detonating the stockpiled weapons in an instant. (I never really liked that ship, it kinda takes the fun out of a battle. However, 12 Harbingers have just blown up, that's 60 gigatons. I think any ships near the Megingjar wont be having a very nice day)
The Orion's are ready for the Silver Wolf attack (well, not ready for that specific attack, but they were ready for some attack) Their Ministar engines, diverted from powering the thrusters to powering the shields (downside, they're immobile), increase the shield strength by 300%. With the shots already dispersed over a large area (three Silver Wolfs attacking five Orions) there is little serious damage cause. A few Phased Assault Cannons breaking through here and there, but they're stopped by the thick armor. Three Laser Turrets and a Beam Cannon on the vessel closest to the Silver Wolf's are destroyed, but the rest of it's armament and the other ships are undamaged. They continue to fire at the Scimitar's, willing to take fire in return for leaving the Fontenelle undefended.
As the Scimitar's and Annihilator's continue to fire on the Hecate's the Mercury corvettes launch in, aiming their full weaponry at the lead Annihilator.
OOC: Well then it's a good thing my weapons have long ranges isn't it? And no damage on the Hecates?
IC:
Two Scimitars take damage, one losing 4 Phased Assault Cannons and a Hellfire Cannon, the other taking hull damage.
All of the Scimitars and Silver Wolfs (including those that had been attacking the Megingjar) focus fire on two Orions, using Hellfire Cannons sparsely but no missiles, hoping to take the ships out of the action.
The Annihilators similarly focus on one of the Hecates in an attempt to cripple it.
When the Mecuries appear, the Phoenix Hawks are ready. They immediately execute "theta strike," launching hundreds upon hundreds of energy seeds from the Refracted Particle Cannons into a cloud directly in the path of the Mercuries. At the same time eight Hellfire Cannons flash out, two from each Phoenix Hawk, attempting to overwhelm the enemy with sheer firepower.
OOC: Well, I thought that since I didn't have them doing anything new and there were no new things attacking them it would be kinda pointless to post anything else. It would just be a re-play of stuff that already happened
IC:
The barrage from the Scimitar's and Silver Wolf's slam into the reinforced shields, pummeling it with massive amounts of energy. Slowly, the sphere's of energy surrounding the ships begin to shrink, as even the massive energy out put of the Ministar is taxed. The shiled's briefly flare up again as all energy is diverted from weapons, but even that only delayed the inevitable.
With a white flash the Destroyers drop their shields, engaging their Sub-Space drives in an attempt to escape with inferno. The further of the two manages to escape, bursting into Sub-Space with fire spurting from gaps in the hull. The closer, however, is not so fortunate. The "sparsely used" Hellfire Cannons rip into the side, blasting through and out. The ship slowly begins to drift, moving into a slow orbit with only a few flickering lights here and there along the hull.
The remaing three Orion's go onto the offensive. As the dead hulk of their former partner floats in space they turn their sides and release the full furry of their impressive weaponry. Beam Cannons, Laser Turrets, Missile Towers, and Harbinger/Tsunami Warheads burst through space, heading right towards the ships that had just vanquished their comrades.
The Mercury corvettes's, speeding through space no other Klonor capital ship could match, speed right into the cloud of energy seeds. The front two come to an immediet halt, their forward momentum hatled by the explosive force. The Hellfire Cannons from the Phoenix Hawk's catch them, spearing through the relatively thin armor and gutting them. The rear eight, alerted by the death of the lead ships, pull up (or down, depending on your relative location) and swoop over (or under) the cloud, catching only the bare edges of the seeds. Their peculiar hull shape and structure manages to deflect most of the seeds, the bare few that catch on causing no more than cosmetic damage.
They continue on, ignoring the Phoenix Hawk's and heading towards the lead Annihilator, firing as they go
(I need some info before I post Hecate damage, you have signed off right before I could ask you)
OOC: None of the ships you have present are armed with harbringers OR tsunamis, according to your storefront specs. Where are they coming from? And what infromation do you need?
What do you mean? All ships that carry fighters have Tsunami warheads, and the Orions carry Harbingers.
They don't have Harbinger cannons (so the shots aren't moving at .9999999 light speed and they don't reload in a matter of seconds), but they have harbingers. Why wouldn't they?
Both are just types of missiles.
As the ships continue to pound on each other the Duke Klonor sends a transmission to the Guanyan government
"Look, I don't know why the hell we're fighting. I had nothing in Tau Ceti in the first place. Since I'm about to attack Bobaria, why don't we move past this. You can keep the colony, as long as you recognize my control over the system. Care to join in the attack?"
"Finally! I was wondering when we'd be able to get this stopped. I agree to those terms, and will call of my fleet immediately. And I wouldn't mind having some fun with Bob." (Boyish grin)
OOC: Post the invite on the Bob war thread and it'll be set to go.
