There seems to be some serious issues with some nations tank designs, mainly they huge. Many nations swear up and down that their 2000 horsepower diesel engine will move those piles at 40 or more miles per hour. Thats BS, because an M1A1 abrams has 1500 horsepower, and itll barely go 45 miles an hour. Id love to go to battle against a twin tureted tank. If both of those guns are fired, the tank will rattle itself apart. Recoil sucks, especialy from 120mm cannons. Deisel electric technology has powered locomotives for nearly 75 years, and it, adapted to tanks and APCs, provides amazing power, durability, and fuel efficiency. Das Uber-Deutschland is offering diesel electric systems for APCs and tanks as a retrofit. Deisel electric systems basicaly offset the use of a transmission. This system uses a diesel engine to power a generator that produces energy which is then fed to AC traction motors on each axle of the vehicle. Since the power to weight ratio of electric motors is far greater to that of internal combustion engines or turbine engines, its easy to see that this system is very effective. With this technology, your APCs and tanks also become mobile generators with the use of power output terminals directly from the deisel run generator. Deisel fuel is far cheaper than hydrogen, and far more tested and durable. Tell me how logisticly your gonna beable to refuel a hydrogen powered tank? Hydrogen is also a horribly inneficient fuel. Complete retrofits cost $100,000 per vehicle, or $50,000 per unite for the manufacturing rights.
