Declaring war. Some nations are doing it n00bishly, and without reason. If you want to be a decent RPer,
1. Turn off the caps lock
2. Find an IC reason
3. Make a formal statement
4. Make sure you have the amount of troops that you should considering your nation size.
BAD:
I DECLR WAAAR ON U BECUZ U YLLED AT MEEEE
I SHIP OUT
7,000,000 AIRCRAFT CARRIERS
1.000,000 SUPER-CLONE TROOPERS WITH NUKLR BOMBZ
1,000 INFINITE NUKE MACHINEZ
Good:
I declare war on *nation name*. This nation has *insert reason here* *your nation here*. I have bought these troops
*insert troops here*
*insert ships here*
*insert aircraft here*
*insert other stuff here*
Age and relation to war
If you are a one month old nation, you probably shouldn't be declaring war. In fact, you probably shouldn't, regardless of age, unless you have upwards of 90 million people, and upwards of 10 billion military budget. A
Buy or produce?
If you want equipment, you must buy it or produce it. If you have a new nation, you may not have the budget to buy it, but would a new nation suddenly produce military equipment? No, it would produce agricultural goods, etc (needs of the new nation). Think about it. Also, if you have a new nation, you're probably not going to have a huge army, or even a concern about military. So it's best to wait a while.
Colonization-and the art of Colonize-modding (colo-modding)
It's fun to RP space nations. I myself are a "near-future" nation with a small fleet. But saying 100% of your military budget is going into colonization of a new planet is not realistic. Even if that was so, a new nation's military budget is pretty small. Someone might try to put their ENTIRE budget into colonization. This is just horrible. Your ENTIRE government budget? You'd have to cut every single government program, etc. It's better to put, say, 60% of your military budget in every year, and just wait a few days RL. Is that too hard?
This is a (real) example of colo-modding:
Ok
Today and issue was sent by General Hein to mobilize all of the Sebecean combined forces to begin the invasion of Jimi Jo Bob. Ships are being loaded. Two command carrier groups have jumped into subspace this morning. Hein ordered SSC Juno to contribute the main force. When the fleet is mobalized over Jimi Jo Bobs area, they are to comince planetary bombardment. They are also ordered to begin to annex the conquered territories into the Greater Sebecean populace.
Note: He declared war on me, I'm only defending
Note: Sebecean colonies are 100% military, and SSC Juno is about 160 million, plus the rest of the Sebecean Dominion Nations
