Diesel electric technology for tank and APC available...

21-11-2003, 21:55
Das Uber-Deutschland, and member of the URAP has been devoted to, and perfected, the use of diesel electric technology in ground based armor applications. This technology basicaly displaces the use of a transmission mated to an engine. Instead, the diesel engine is mated to a generator that creates electicity which is then fed to electric traction motors mounted on each axle. This system is far more efficient than a hydraulic or mechanical transmission. This system also provides more power (as electric motors can produce far more power when compared to a internal combustion engine by weigth to weight ratio), more fuel effieciency, and far less maintanence. For now, Das Uber-Deutschland is offering this technology as a retrofit to most tank designs and large APC designs only. We have our own heavy and light tank design, but do to confidentiality and small production capability, we are not releasing it to the defense market as of now. On request I can give potential buyers a complete chart of statistics on what this system has to offer on a M1A1 abrams design. The price per tank as an upgrade is about $50,000.
