Today HPSauce revealed plans to contruct a small nuclear arsenal of 15 short range tactical nuclear missiles to defend itself from hostile nations. The Prime Minister was quoted as saying that he had taken this move with a great deal of reluctance but that HPSauce's interests needed to be protected.
Anti-Nuclear protestors have been seen in the capital, the government response has been to ignore them and hope they go away (Price of Democracy and all that).

Who else is this arms race? Anyway have 500 million to help you get better safty measures on keeping these weapons safe. We want you to use that money only for safty.

In order to dissuade your governent from developing these weapons we are going to donate £10million Shildonian Pounds to the anti-nuclear protesters, in the hope that their voice will be heard, and that the government of HPSauce will desist from this reckless military build-up which could cause instability in the region.

The voices of the protestors have indeed been heard, the leader of the Green party has made several rousing speaches advocating dis-armament. Already he has begun to gain a lead over the ruling Liberal Democrat party in the polls.

While nuclear development is a worthwhile undertaking for most nations, Aleph Strata does not believe you are taking the right course of action. Since HPSauce has proprietary sauce technology (www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=84369) wouldn't you want to develop that into a nuclear-equivalent weapon?

The Government of Dinoponera respectfully directs the attention of the Government of HPSauce towards our developed uranium mining industry. Our companies can supply a range of uranium products, from tasteful uranium-salt glazes to U-236. It has long been our position that the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction has a destabilising effect on the NS world's nations. And we are saddened to hear of another nation-state subscribing to the doctrine of 'mutually assured destruction'.

We respectfully urge HP Sauce to halt its research into WMD construction and apply your scientific efforts to other areas.

The philosophy of MAD has not caused wars, but has actually prevented them, creating an uneasy peace. Nations with nuclear weapons do not want to use them if it means the same type of weapon is used against them. Why destroy someone else's backyard, only to have yours blown up at the same time? This philosophy only needs to concern nations that do not have nuclear weapons technology, because they will see that they can be hit with impunity, something they try to avoid as much as possible.
