New Disease!

Recently many chipmunks have been dying out. Until now most scientists believed it was just the yearly death (all chipmunks that have aged higher then 5 years suddenly die) but they were proven wrong when the yearly counting of chipmunks have shown that only 50,000 chipunks are still alive. A group of scientists have been studying dead chipmunks that were just born but suddenly died. They found a new bacteria that grows at an enormusly (sp?) fast-rate. They have named the disease Suddenly Doth

more news as it comes...

A Chipmunk disease? Well, this is quite an interesting matter, yet it must be addressed. Rodent diseases could easily infect humans. Do you require any assistance.

Many tests have been tested on larger animals as elephants and they are extremely ill, as of now we do not require any help but if it continues we might require your assistance. If the elephant that we tested the disease on dies then this disease may affect humans.
19-11-2003, 01:35
Has anyone found out where this might have came from? This might have be done by an enemy and therefor the chipmonks spread it to eachother.
19-11-2003, 01:36
NOOOOOOOOO! not the chipmunks

The Nuclear/Biological/Chemical Defence Special Forces will help you. When normally dealing with terrorist threats, this disease could get in the hands of terrorists or even accidently cross borders if not contained. You are lucky it has currently stayed in animals.

Did You Know?
The NBCD Special Forces are higher trained than Special Forces and are second only to Elite Special Forces in skill (in my nation). There are also Commandos, Marines, and Regulars as troops in my military.

As of now we don't know but this disease doesn't match any disease or a chemical agent in our record books (at least ours that is) the old amount of chipmunks use to be 175 thousand but as you may see it dropped quite a lot.

We do not require any help as of now but if it continues, yes.

Well there are no more chipmunks. We actually had a lab munk that died after it gave birth and so did it's babies. We've been feeding it purified and plain water along with plain food from the wild. The disease does have DNA and RNA of the common cold.

We send our condolances about the loss of your enitre chimpmunk population. We hope the elephant population does not die out either. God save the squirels.

We already have. A terrorist group (most likely TGAK) probably have been working on creating this new disease. But we already have but so far nothing. Who knows this might be the modern version of smallpox...
20-11-2003, 02:14
 You must isolate the virus!!! Quarantine anyone and everyone who has it!!!It may not seem humane, but it'll save millions of lives!!! Make sure that you discard all food in the grocers and burn the fields, as many rodents exist there!...This reminds me about that Fever: 1793 book... :)

I must agree. Establishing an quarantine is a must with this virus. I do not believe though that killing the infected people would be a good idea. How about making an "reservation" to allow the infected people to live in comfort and relative peace until they either recover or die.
Kurlej
20-11-2003, 02:22
Yes, that is what we are doing. We already have a colony on another planet in which we can send the healthy people. But, *someone whispers something in his ear* New Discovery! Cough drops can prevent the disease from it killing you for another day but...

We are sending 3, 000, 000 injections of S.M.A (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1991604&highlight=#1991604/) to help you deal with the human infection.
20-11-2003, 02:25
Quick bullet to the infected's head, and a trip to the incinerator. Make sure to have your people wear proctective gear and if so much as a thread comes loose on the gear send them to the incinerator too...

Things like this don't last too long if you make sure idiots (the common slob) can't weaken your fight against the disease.

My country offers its condolences to the suffering squirrels in your country, and would like to offer our expertise in health care. We recommend a quarantine, and also would welcome a sample of the virus to study. Perhaps we can determine its origin and other traits of the virus, such as whether it can be transmitted through the air, how long it can survive exposure, etc.
Kurlej
20-11-2003, 02:28
Well we have no more rodents in our country. That's why we choose the chipmunk as our animal because it 's the only rodent in here.

We can send samples but mind you it's dangerous.

And Naelosia thank you. This disease can spread to humans but then again it already did.

50 scientists
2 pilots

OOC- Anyway this is hilarious! http://www.politicaltoons.com/flash/osama_nowhere.cfm

Noda Jia is willing to offer our top scientists to help with this problem. However, citizens from your country will not be allowed within the country limits of Noda Jia, and any shipments must be labeled with your country's name and the code "AQ:BZ" ("A Qetèn: Baulobtenne Zurkalêdjo!"). For the beginning of our relief, the nation of Noda Jia is sending you 1,000,000G. Please keep in touch.

A scientific support team is on its way now to help out with your crisis. Also, we have sent funding support of 100000 talons(90000 US dollars) to aid your scientisits.

Prime Minister Orrin Zarm, New Carino, Organai.

I would recommed not sending anything out of your nation without sterilizing it or the disease could spread.

It was sterilized already. any disease that we don't know or is dangerous is sterilized right away.

UPGRADED DEATH COUNT-
180 thousand chipmunks dead
250 citizens
4 pilots.
20-11-2003, 03:19
OOC: obviously, there a scientific force so they are in those suits that are sterile, and all of the cipmunks in Organai were killed off during the Green Plauge of 1853.

IC: the scientists are yours to keep until the end of the plauge.

OOC: Kurlej, check your telegrams.

It appears that there has been casualties in Organai.

two of the five helicopters crashed heding from the Kurljel border back to Organai, deaths yet unknown, an investigation squad is on its way to the crash site to find out the reasons. With your permission i wish to send 1 sniper recon team of 12 Spec Ops Snipers incase it was a terroristic attack.

Very well. Also some more info-
Its a retrovirus that uses the genetic sequence used to create DNA polymerase (Enzyme used in DNA replication). So instead of the DNA of a cell being duplicated during mitosis/meiosis, the virus' DNA is replicated, thus preventing the creation of new cells, and increasing the number of the viruses. Thus, it also kills its victims slowly.

It's an airborne virus, but can only survive seconds of exposure. Furthermore, it can also be transmitted by body fluids. The virus mutates at a high rate, so developing a vaccine would prove to be difficult. It incubates in the body slowly, but then is triggered suddenly by some unknown stimulant, causing a massive explosion of the replication of the virus.

Initial symptons include a mild fever and sore throat. During this stage, the virus is extremely contagious. Soon, the body might experience mild pains, then the metabolism slows down. Eventually, it shuts down completely, and the body ceases all function. The estimated mortality rate is 90%

Some versions of the virus grow at such a rate it can clog small arteries/veins thus causing a heart attack.
20-11-2003, 23:33
It was as I feared. It appears that it was the virus that made the chopper crash. The pilots died before the helicopter was downed, it is suspected that they caugh it while landing the science team in Kurlej. It has spread to the Organaian border. our current casualty list.

1 spec ops sniper, 3 in detainment with the disease
25 scientists, 8 w/ disease
150 civilians, we have detained the disease to the villiage of Hodega, all have died.
it has also claimed the life of a senator and 3 Al Pacas.
20-11-2003, 23:52
Anyone curently in your nation who is organaian will stay until they can be brought to a detainment facility. This is a day that will live in infamy.

We did not send any copters plus how did you get the disease? You even said so right here two of the five helicopters crashed heding to the Kurlej's border Even if the disease is airborn it can only stay up there for about 10/15 minues.

OOC- I advise you to change the post into something like this-
When 2 helicopters landed on Kurlej's airport the 4 pilots caught the disease and was soon hospitalized.

EDIT- not to mention I'm on the Isle of Solitude which is an island so unless the disease spreads over the ocean...
22-11-2003, 19:30
it was our copters with the science team that I sent, and when some were sent back home ill, they infected others.........

Ill change the post above tho

You must defeat this! I send to you my top-researchers, as they specialize in Genetic Engineering. How else would we breed the super soldiers? If we were to engineer this virus so that it cannibalizes the other viruses, then we could defeat it... It is only a thought. My researchers are on the way. :D
