Admiral Stevens' injured fleet approached the harbour at half speed, still trailing smoke. Tha admiral warily eyed the Alconan ships visible heading for the same point. Would they accept his surrender to JDF attainer?
Onshore fortifications could be seen being thrown hastily up, sandbagged artillery being placed along the waterfront and trained on the bays entrance.
Ashore The young Earl O'Brian also eyed the approaching vessels with apprehension, knowing he could not fight both the Alconans and the dyelli beybians at once, especially with a single frigate at his disposal. An encrypted message was detected travelling between the two commanders, but defied all translation attempts.
OOC: DB- what are your troops in my country doing?

OOC: I sent the Earl a message is he responding?

IC: The Alconian fleet continues to approach, but broadcasts a message. "Attention, this is a Joint Defense Force Naval Taskforce, we are here to support the defenses of Christchurch from the inpending invasion." The fleet redies in terms of response.

The Vrakian and Alconian taskforces should now be somewhere off the central coast of Narv-X looking at my calculations.

Communication to all JDF forces and Dyelli military groups.
From: General Claudius Maximus, commander of Jiggady National Military
Subject: Warning of apparent Jiggady forces in Dyelli.

Colleuges, it grieves me to break this information whichs shows an apparent lack in ability of our command staff to keep our military in check. Yet it is vital that you know the state of affairs in our military. We have found out about the recent defection of one of our Generals, Phillip Plank, to the forces of Tzar Henry of Fasta Benj. He has become misguided and disolusioned with what he is supposed to do as a General and this has lead to him becoming angry over our apparent 'misuse of his talent.'

We know that the General has moved his forces into Dyelli with designs on causing terror to satisfy his desires. We had previously hoped to keep this silent, wanting to deal with the situation ourselves however, it has become apparent to us that Plank is too far out of reach for Jiggady forces. I am sending you this to let you know not to trust forces in Dyelli that say they are working as a Jiggady peace keeping army. They are rouge agents bent on aiding the Tzar in his crazy quest for power and should be stopped if encountered.

Again, that is the units claiming to be Jiggady peace forces aiding the JDF are not to be trusted and should be brought down.

Somewhere in Vrak...

Translated from Vrakian.

-The Vrakian corridor is secure?
-For the moment. We haven't committed that many troops into the surrounding areas so our garrisons should be okay. More troops and equipment from Vrak proper are loading up now as we speak.
-Good. How about Nekoa?
-Hard to tell now. We have to get an update from all concerned parties. Perhaps the Landgravine and Avery will be filing a report to Parliament soon.
-And the troops outside Alexigrad?
-Still unknown at this time.
-Find out. What about our naval taskforce?
-Along with the Alconians, they should be off the central Narv-X coast.
-And our other allies?
-They are ready to commit if necessary.
-That is good news.
-We also received a report that a General Plank is alive.

A pause.

-Plank is alive? Where?
-Apparently he's moving forces into Dyelli Beybi.
-By Bok's whiskers, how many troops does he have?
-We don't know.
-This is bad, especially if there are rogue elements in Jiggady. I'm sure the Supreme Jiggady will have Plank's head when this is all done.
-Indeed. But this complicates the situation in Dyelli Bebyi and Fasta Benj.

Both walruses sighed heavily. One poured himself a scotch.

OOC: There are no Dyellian Troops in Fasta Benj, they pulled out ages ago.

A vexed looking Colonel was at the head of the party who had stopped the train, he was seated in the passenger seat of a poorly made Dyellian 4x4. He lit up a cigarrette perhaps a little nervously.

Major Robert Orr approached the Colonel respectfully but warily. In these troubled times, it was difficult to gauge what would happen next. With him was Lt. Jorgseen. As he drew nearer, he saluted and asked,

"Colonel. May I ask why sir we are delayed? Our orders are to proceed to Cyro to help defend the Klatch against the agressors."

Someone wearing a tattered looking leather jacket sprinted up to the Colonel, there was a brief conversation, "Ah." The Colonel annonuced to the Vrakians, "It seems Cyro is under attack. There will be no further red tape, of that you can be assured."

--------------------------

(OOC) Cyro is the Number two most heavily defended town.

Cyro
The first shells began to impact on the city, there was chaos as the two divisions of freshly recruited troops that had been stationed there began to panic. However the panic was short lived, as the veteran Second Armoured Division which had been stationed near the flattened Palace ralied behind the new cabinet.
The new head of the Metropolitan Police and Gestapo was quick on the scene, arriving by car. He could not count them, most were hidden, so he lifted up the radio to broadcast what he had to say over the radio waves. All up there were some 2,250 T80s, 450 T10M heavy tanks, 900 AAV-1 Scout Tanks and 900 AFV5m3 Tracked anti-aircraft systems.

"As I am sure you are well aware." the radio crackled to life in over 3,000 vehicles, "Our city is under attack. North in Bath the war will be decided. Today in all likelihood, but what happens here is no less important. We have in our hands, enough firepower to wipe these dogs off the face of the earth. It is our duty to defend our Catitol and the pride of our Republic. It is your duty in the coming battle to do so. You will lead the advance. There will be no mercy for the treacherous foreign devils. No prisoners! No surrender!"

And with that the engines of the 2nd rumbled to life. The plan was simple. Attack the main Jiggardian force...and kill everyone. There was no grand strategy. It was going to be repeated waves of tanks, advancing a Brigade at a time, relying on the principle of most guns wins.

(OOC: The T10M for those of you unfamiliar with it, is a 1950s Russian tank. For reasons beyond the scope of ordinary people, the Dyellian Government chose to hinder all armoured Divisions with a number of these. Usually the Generals leave them sitting around while the good tanks do the work.)

----------------------------------

Off the Coast of Cyro
The Dyellian shiiping had been on high alert. They too were under a flag of truce, but had been waiting for the Benjians to get in range of the smaller guns before opening fire, the ECM was on. The advantage of surpise had been lost to either side. Within 20 seconds, the 13 active Battle Cruisers and 56 Cruisers that were in the harbour opened fire with their 320mm turretts. They were backed up by 49 Komsomoletz Ukrainey destroyers who all carried similar turrets. The ships who had them dropped torpedo nets while the crews on the ASW frigates watched the screens closely. They were towing huge arrays and knew that with the number of them (56 in total) they were bound to pick up the enemy submarines, no matter how heavily they were kitted out to be undetectable.

Bath
The Konnigshrew had left a great path of devastation through the city, not so much from it's armament as from its great size and complete inability to steer. It had eventually stopped after much furious breaking, after driving through the river and up the other side, having aquired a 15 metre long bull crocodile in the process. General Mitteron assumed the crocodile had mistaken the huge tank that was now gistening on the Eastern banks, to be a mate. They had driven it off with rifle fire and it had gone to hide somewhere less urban. (OOC: Klatchian River crocodiles grow up to 18 metres, most are about the size of an Australian 'Salty')
An aide cleared his throat loudly.

"Yes?" the General asked.

"Prisoners Sir. We have a lot of them. What should we do with them." he paused momentarily, "Some of the lads reckon we should kill 'em and be done with it."

Miteron turned from admiring the huge vehicle, "Are you mad?" he demanded, "You know what the orders are. They are to be treated with the utmost kindness. We are to give them three square meals a day, adequate clothing and shelter and supply them with playing cards abd reading material if requested."

The aide grimaced, he clearly disagreed, however all traces of disagreement were absent in his voice, "This would be the deck where leaders of the Revolution have been substituted for the picture cards?"

The General nodded, "Spot on."

"The reading material would be pamplets on the rights of man and the evils of the Tzarist regime?"

"Two out of two." the General replied as he turned to look at the tank again.

"Err Sir?" the aide asked uncertainly.

"Yes?" the General did not turn around.

"What of Cyro."

"Last throw of a desperate regime, and besides, O'Booze will be there within the day and he has enough troops to conquer half of Klatch with him. No. Our men will be recieving a well deserved rest."

Routine Patrol outside of Bath
This is Dracula One reporting. I have visual of unidentified vehicles aproaching. Look like Jiggardians. Over.

This is Transylvania. Are you getting a positive ID? Over.

Negative. Any further orders. We expect they'll be within range of our airbases within 15 minutes. Over.

Shadow them. We will scramble. This looks like it will turn into a distinctly unpleasant situation. Over.

---------------------------------

The arrival of troops had been unexpected, and it came from the wrong direction. The heavy fortifications were absent and many of the troops defending the city had no way to cross the river easily. Despite the chaos that was now gripping the horde in Bath, around 500 Infantry managed to actually recieve their orders and arrived at the airbases. They had with them 50 ASCOD IFVs and 12 T90s. 24 MiG29s had been scrambled, including the one already in the air, loaded down with the few rockets the airbase had to offer, while innumerable other fighters were crowding the runway, desperate not to be caught on the ground (OOC The airbases to the East were planned to act only as fighters with no ground attack role).

The army at Bath was enormous, but it was running around like a chicked with it's head chopped off, several commanders had ordered a retreat behind the walls of the city which were now buzzing with troops. Most men however remained in the confused mass amongst the dunes to the East of the city.

"Damn it where the hell is McCloud, we have lost the advantage of surprise." Battle commander 5 continued to issue orders of bombardment, as he now moved in with his remaining tanks and troops.

The radio crackled and through the static he could make out the frenzied voice of his fellow commander.

"This is .....mist....Under heav... ...re. Genera.....lank...omed us."

"What, say again commander. Say again damn it." With a great roar of frustration he tossed the radio down, pulled his sidearm and unloaded a full clip into it.

Plank had gotten them in well over their heads. "We need more men damnit, united our army was a threat. That fool should have never split us all off like this." A feeling of sickness and unease began to grow in his stomach, they wernt going to make it out of this. "Keep pushing forward, look for a target hit it and look for another."

"Sir, perhapes we should..."

"Perhapes what Major? Surrender? What will that get us, if they dont kill us for aiding the Tzar and invading their land, then we will be killed for treason against Jiggady."

Closer to the city the second commander hunkered down and sprayed fire with the automatic rifle he picked up from a corpse. He now had to actually defend himself if he wanted to live through this masacre. At least thrity of their tanks were now spouting flame and smoke from all places except from their main gun. He no longer had a good look at the enemy and coulnt guess how many they had gotten before being laid upon like dogs on a duck.

Behind him he could still hear rumbles from the still active tanks, and he dared to peak from his cover to see what they hit. His eyes were rewarded as he saw several shots land in the midsts of the Dyellian tanks, and a whole barage impact one of the closer buildings. However, this was the last thing he would ever see. Without even a warning a sniper round imbeded itself in his head, and the world went dark forever.

"Damn, I need more men." General Plank quickly scanned the opposition and knew that his two battle groups would have to get lucky here. Plank suddenly wished that they had kept a better pace, allowing their artillery to keep up.

"Set up positions around this ridge, get the A.A. guns activated. Commander Healy, take half the tanks and push on ahead. I will move to the left flank and make a push with the rest of them and the infantry. Let us go men, we are fighting for the Tzar now."

Carrying out his orders in a less enthusiastic manner than before, the men prepared for the assault.

It was JDF battlegroup Gama Ten that had heard the announcement about the Jiggadian problem. They were one of the units supposed to move in to support Bath, if agreed to...the chatter about an attack on Bath promted one commander to act, not wait.

"Contact the garrision in Bath and confirm the location of those rouge units. When they do, I want you to get Battlegroups Gama 8 and Gama 5 to attempt a pincer movement."

"I'm not sure Anderson is going to go for this..."

"F*** Anderson, I'm not going to leave this postion, we're just going to expand our orders. I want a klach kat bombardment on that ridge located from the chatter...."

Several of the tanks began to elevate themselves on dunes or quicly dug holes. Turning themselves into improptu artillery. Poorly targeted and a bitch to load, but 18 Challanger II tanks had become somewhat effective 155mm artillery.

A few moments later, two small AFV spotted the three Jiggadian battle groups and radioed the postion.

The 18 'elevated' tanks opened fire, a small drizzle of shells slamming down within a few mile wide cirlce.

OOC: That is going to be it from me until January. The other two battlegroups are just going to 'fill in' to the east and await orders so at the moment the JDF is only going to do a poor job shelling Plank. If Plank runs to the east things will get messy, assume that if he heads north or south two JDF battlegroups will follow.

It was utter choas. Brigadoe Park was seated behind the burned out shell of one of the T10Ms. The fires had gone out leaving the tank slowly cooling. Sporadic gunfire could be heard in the distance. "So how many have we lost?"

He looked around for someone to answer, and for the first time noticed the men around him were not members of his Brigade. "Anyone from the 1st of the 2nd Armour?"

There was a general shaking of heads, then one man in a field-grey uniform raised a hand, "Yessir. Lieutenant Collins Sir."

"Do you know what is going on Lieutenant?"

There was a crash and boom as a shell landed on the other side of the wreck. All of the men ducked instinctively as bouts of soils and chips of paving and asphalt skidded over the top of the tank.

"No Sir." Collins replied, he looked a little uneasy, "Well technically I'm logistics Sir, we were assigned to the First of the Second. We came under fire over that way." he hiked his thumb towards some buildings, "Unfortunately my truck got stuck in a pothole, so we" he indicated a couple of rough looking drivers carrying bolt-action rifles, "decided to ditch it until the area was properly secured."

Park grimaced, it was utter chaos, but he knew the Dyellians had numbers. They couldn't lose. Overhead there was a roar. Park looked up. The 2nd Calvalry was out in force, it's Mi-28s and Ka-50s advancing like a horde of locusts

The two squadrons of MiG-29 were in position.

"Keep to altitude. Most armour only carries close in AA to hold against helicopters...engage at will"

"......Units of the 2nd battalian, third infantry moving in south Cyro heavy resistance......"

"Two units of the 5th battalian, second infantry pinned down in the northern quadrent, heavy mechanized resistance....get us some damned tanks..."

The radio transmitions were non stop, and all of the same news. Units pinned down or facing heavy resistance, We'll be lucky if a single man survives this Thought Major Wes Pollack, recently 'promoted' to commander of his battalion with the death of his commander.

"....5th mobile infantry surrendering to Dyellian troops near the port, there is nothing more we can do here.."

Blast, surrender!?!?!, that was one of their heaver divisions, they needed that unit. Bloody hell this was a mistake.

Battalian commander 5 pushed further towards the city, and watched as more of his Sabra battle tanks became burning pieces of metal, the closer they got. Their fire reigned down upon the city, scattered and without any real coordinated threat, he suddenly wished he hadnt shot his radio transponder.

---------------

Bath

Plank ducked as the artilery fire started up however, the shell were falling in from different coordinats. He wildly scaned the horizon with binoculars and could finally pinpoint the point of this new attack.

Theres something there but what? I cant see any damned units. If this is the JDF and Dyellians, than we are in trouble.

"All units forward fire at will!" He bellowed across the radio, there were approaching forces and he might be able to take them out and clog the road out of Bath.

The new Sabra main battle tanks moved into life with the vigor of a twenty year old in the sack, pushing forward and spouting flame from their turrets.

The Anti Air guns suddenly came to life but Plank didnt bother to look to see their targets, he had more important things to direct and had to trust the judgement of his other commanders.

Somewhere, thirty miles from the city, the artilery left behind continued pressing onward.

In a bunker in the centre of Cyro the two leaders of the Revolution who were still in the country, Francis Crabtree, the head of the Metropolitan Police and Gestapo and Denise Laroque were pouring over a map of the field. Unusual for Dyelli Beybi, it was actually digital and being constgantly updated.

"Things are looking promising." Laroque noted.

"Yes...aparently we have prisoners too." Crabtree replied.

The Communist leader looked suitably impressed, "Vehicles taken as well?"

"It is unclear at this point. But as a whole, we're looking good. We're losing nearly two vehicles for every one of theirs but the overall numbers are ensuring things are going in our favour."

"You don't need to tell me that."

There was a flicker on the map as it updated again.

The MiGs had fled at the first sign of AA fire. A few had unloaded bombs, but if they had done any damage it would have been entirly due to excedingly bad luck on the Jiggardian part.

However, the delay in the assault had meant that the Dyellian ground forces had been given the oportunity to regain their nerve and were reforming into a cohesive army again with the scattered forces at the airbases doubling in numbers while a significantly larger force assembled to take the offensive.

"FOR THE TZAR!!!" A holdout group of men from the First infantry of the 5th battalion charged from their hidden locations among the rubble of several of the bombed out buildings. Building up their courage for one final assault the men yelled their alligance to the Tzar in crazed screams as they ran forward, the bullets from their assault rifles leading the way.

Corporal Manny Hanks thought to himself during the charge, his thoughts were on his family back in Jiggady. His defection would surely have put them in an akward state concerning the government, but Plank had promised that they would be safely taken from Jiggady to secure locations provided by the Tzar. Hanks wondered now if he would ever see them again, their bullets were matched by larger calliber rounds from the end of the road they now ran down. Two of his squad mates fell with holes in their heads but he charged on, remembering his duty.

The fifth battle commander now was on his feet, the tank he had rode into the city was now disloged from its tracks and he was now just one of ambiguous men charging in. The bullet that found his leg seemed to think of him as an ambiguous man, not distinguishing him and his rank from any of the others that it could have hit. He crumpled down onto a slab of concrete, trying to wipe the blood from his eyes so that he could aim his sidearm; yet this was an act of futility and he leaned back considering if he should end it now with a bullet rather than face capture. He however took too long in the decision and it was made for him as he felt his arms lifted up and placed onto a strecher, the men deffinetly were not wearing uniforms of the Jiggady national army.

Their charged had failed, Hanks knew this because he was now laying in blood that was pooling from a wound in his back. Oh...I guess I'm finished, at least my family would have gotten out and seen Fasta Benj. It was his last thought as life left his eyes.

(At nearly that very moment the execusions commenced in Jiggady. Families were lined up according to the rank of their officer family members under Plank's command. Lesser families were lined up in front of firing squads, this went up to the next group nealing down in the guilletines (sp) set up for the televised occasion. Finally those families, fathers, mothers, grandmothers, baby sisters, children of the highest officers stood with ropes around their necks in the massive execution platforms erected. Betty Hanks closed her eyes and clutched the hand of her mother who was sitting in her wheelchair. She barely had time to breath before the bullet logged itself in her heart, as the firing squad executions commenced.)

All around Cyro the rebel Jiggady forces were reduced to small pockets of infantry commencing in firefights with the opposition. The artiliery fire had been halted long ago and they were now only supported by a few surviving tanks.

"Did we hit anything?"

"Of course not, but keep firing lest Plank turn his wrath to us."

The tanks advanced, taking any rout they could into the city, it was time to bring the offensive to Bath. (ooc: sorry thats all I got for now on Bath, I'll try to put more later)

The Mi-28 buzzed over the street at rooftop level, edging it's way around the taller buildings, a scattering of other helicopters following it. There was very little resistance left, it had been something of a victory.

"Not many of them are surrendering." someone gossiped over the radio waves.

"It's odd." someone else replied, "You'd think they'd surrender quite readily, but they seem genuinely well inclined towards the Tzar."

A puzzled silence followed, "Hear George's men have been basically wiped out. Aparently some of the Divisions that were sitting pretty in the middle declared for us out East."

"That right?"

"Ok now, that's enough of that. We've got an enemy tank 500 metres ahead."

"1 tank against 5 of us?" came an incredulous voice, "It hardly seems sporting."

"Tally ho!" came a voice previously unheard on the radio waves.

"Is that you Bertie?" the pilot of the Mi-28 asked.

"Got another tanks, that makes three."

"Blast it man. I'm still hankering after my first." the pilot responded, witrh more than a little envy in his voice, "there just aren't enough to go around."

"Well good luck old boy. Rememeber if you lose you're buying the drinks."

----------------------------------------------------

Out to Sea the Fleet of Lunchtime O'Booze had joined the Battle, tipping the balance of power firmly towards Dyelli Beybi. At the same time his transports had landed, disgorging vast numbers of tanks and infantry into a battle which was all but over.

-----------------------------------------------------

Bath
The wall's 200mm cannons spat out tongues of flame that were vissible from the hastily erected defensive lines around the Bath airbases. The tanks were partially dug in or hidden in the best dead ground available, while the infantry had dug themselves into shallow fox holes and trenches. The barage was joined by the 30 Adolf Hitler mobile artillery pieces that had managed to get into position. They had not been dug in and with their enormous size made conspicuous targets, relying on armour rather than concealement.
All up the defences housed the 21st Armour Division along with elements of the 11th Mechanised Infantry along with some 20,000 Police Officers who had hastily been pressed into serving alongside the military as war broke out. Oddly enough men from the 37th Logistics Division had also joined the front line fighting with their trucks being used as makeshift cover. Behind the lines was the Artillery Division. It had been moved to Bath in expectation of fighting the Benjians. Now, as the Jiggardians aproached, the guns and rockets joined with the police-controled Adolf Hitler's to rain destruction upon the advancing troops.
All in all the make-shift defences housed 48,971 infantry troops 3,242 trucks, 1,036 ASCOD IFVs, 77 T90s, 2,250 T72s, 465 T10M heavy tanks, 930 AAV-1 Scout Tanks and 1055 AFV5m3 Tracked anti-aircraft systems, 839 155mm Ultra lightweight Field Howitzers, 405 G6 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzers, 405 SMERCH 9K58 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems along with a plethora of support vehicles. It was thelargest army Dyelli BVeybi had ever fielded in a single engagement. It's destruction could spell doom for the country.

"Sir there is no way we will be able to penetrate their defenses. They will have us all dead before we even get into effective range."

"I can see this and analyze it myself Major, I suggest you keep your mouth shut and get back to your tank." Plank held back a sigh, it was not like him to have a defetist attitude but he knew that his mistake of splitting their units would quickly come back to haunt him, even if Hacket showed up with his men.

"General, we need more men to lead this attack." The major persisted despite what his brain told him, he had seen what Plank did to those that tried to voice their own opinions. Damn it all, if I'm going to die I want it to be for something worth while, not his damned ego.

"Major, I shall not tell you again. You shall lead the first wave." Plank stopped to look at the officer, he turned back to the city and finished: "I suggest that you be succesfull in your assault."

The major simply nodded his head and turned sharply. Walking away from Plank he couldnt keep a wince from his face, either way he was dead yet he might as well die on his own terms. His assault was to be with sixty of their tanks followed by nearly two thousand infantry men, and he didnt need binoculars to tell that whatever the Dyellians had would be more than him.

"Come on men, we are going to try and save our own asses. All units start north, lets get out of here."

Some of the men repressed cheers, glad that someone was taking proper action for a change. Others had quizical looks on their faces, knowing that this deffinetly wasnt Plank's battle plan. Wordlessly they followed the order and began pulling out north.

Plank took position in the very rear of his assault force, waiting for the major to begin the attack. For the first time glory wasnt on his mind, the only thing he could think of was survival, and it was much easier to run from the back than from the front. Shells from the Dyellians and the JDF forces began to again fall among their position, only furthering his ideas of escaping.

Cyro

With no clear chain of command still in effect, Sergant Marco Hunter assumed that he was now in command of the fledging forces still engaged in Cyro. He had seen his commander take a bullet to the head, and reports were comming in that the other commander had been captured, placing a tremendous burdon onto his shoulders. The reports comming in were fewer and fewer as more men were dying or being captured and from the sound of things the only ones left were his tank group and a small infantry platoon that had pushed deep into the city.

There is no glory in death, but there is no glory in surrender either. And with the two tanks remaining in his unit the decision seemed obvious.

"What shall we do sir?" The voice was of a young man loading another shell into the main gun. He couldnt be more than eighteen, a new recruit who had unfortunatly been placed in Plank's command. His face betrayed the fear that was in his voice, Hunter guessed that the young boy was holding back tears.

"Someday they are going to sing songs of our heroism lad, and they will know our names. AHEAD FULL, TAKE OUT ANYTHING YOU SEE!!!"

A thunderous boom echoed from their rear as the other tank took a direct hit from the new tanks from O'Booze's new units.

-Good. Remember the plan. Once within 100 kilometes of Cyro we disembark the equipment from the cars and proceed to Cyro.
-But we have little in the way of air support.
-Indeed. But we don't exactly feel like losing more than we have to. It's bad enough to be here while a civil war is raging. Latest satellite images indicate heavy troop movements in and around Cyro. It's a mess. As well, any indication as to why we were stopped here?
-Nothing sir. And we don't have time to find out.

An armoured car crawled it's way through the war ravaged streets, a huge megaphone unit on it's roof began to blare out it's message, "JIGGARDIAN SOLDIERS. SURRENDER. FIGHTING IS HOPELESS. SURRENDER TO US AND YOU WILL BE TREATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GENEVA CONVENTION. WE GUARANTEE YOU YOU WILL NOT BE TORTURED OR EXECUTED. JIGGARDIAN SOLDIERS..."

In a bunker scarecely a mile away O'Booze had found his way to the General's heading the defence in Cyro.

"Well it seems you've done an alright job."

"Would you have done anything differently?" Crabtree asked, he seemed a little prickled by the General's tone.

"No, not at all." the General quickly assured the taller man. No use in getting offside with the ISE, Gestapo or whatever they were calling themselves these days, "Do we have any prisoners?"

"A few." A Major General remarked. He was sitting in the corner, casually smoking a cigar.

"Well we had better pack them off to Jiggardy."

"Forgive my intrusion." the General and Head of Gestapo turned to look at the man who had spoken. He was a fairly unremarkable man, probably in his 30s with black slicked back hair and a well tailored civilian suit, probably either Gestapo or ESE O'Booze decided "But wouldn't it be pertinent to check to see what kind of reception it is they'll be expecting when they get back home? After all, it would look bad for the Socialist regime if we sent people off to meet a death penalty."

"We were of course going to do that Sydney." the head of Gestapo assured him, "Send for a prisoner we'll interview him on the subject."

-------------------------

Bath
The Dyelli Beybias watched the movement of the Jiggardians with disbelief, "What on Earth are they up to?" one General asked another as they stood outside one of the many new Command vehicles the factories in the South were churning out.

"I don't know. But it's going to be a pointless exercise, there is no way they can win." he leaned inside the open doorway of the bulky halftrack,

"Oi! You! Get this message off to the Jiggardians. Message reads. 'Propose ceasefire. Stop. Effective immediately upon reply to indicate agreement with proposal. Stop. Wish to negotiate terms of surrender. Stop' And that I feel about wraps it up...don't take that down!"

The fields to the East of Bath were among the only fertile parts of Dyelli Beybi. Now though, the irrigation from the river had been destroyed and the fields had turned a baked yellow colour. IF it wasn't repaired soon, the dunes would swallow them up.
Now however, they were home to the 3rd and 4rth Armoured Divisions that were preparing to move North West. Ignoring the fighjting with the Jiggardians in the East, as were all the divisions on this side of the river.
The third was to head to Welles and surround the town, while the 4rth was to try the same approach at Sheffield. Elements of the 26th Foot were also bearing in on the town and they would enter it. The towns had always been hotbeds of Communism, even under the harsh Tzarist regime, and they expected popular support against however many Benjians remained. Logistics columns were ready to supply the advance, and also to bring food and water to the cities as needed.
At 12pm, in the blistering heat of midday, the colums began to roll off.

(OOC) I don't mind mercenaries, but could you please refrain from usaing future tech if you get involved.
Regards.

Tom Morgan was his name, the commander of Plank's 5th battalian. He rested in his cell after recieving medical attention from his captors, they werent bad people after all. However, he wasnt going to let his feelings be swayed by their good samaritism; he was a captured solider and he knew that he would be tortured for information.

Not five minutes after being placed in the cell, the doors opened again with the generic sound of iron bars scraping against the hinges holding them in place. Two large men dressed in black hoisted him up by his shoulders and dragged him down the long halway. Morgan wouldnt admit it but he was scared, yet either way he was probably a dead man so he might as well be cooperative.

A door to another room opened up and he was thrust down into a chair facing a dark corner. Lights immediatly flickered on and he had to close his eyes against their blinding forces.

-------------------

Bath

The major halted his units after hearing the communication from the socialist forces. Hmmm surrender maybe a better solution, than trying to escape....who knows what else we might run into trying to flee.

"To the Dyellian socialist forces, we hear and we are ceasing hostilities against Bath. We are moving north away from the Generals forces and will wait there for your forces."

General Plank had heard the announcement from the Dyellians and scoffed at their terms, he knew it was just a ploy to lower their defenses. "Disregard their communications and continue with the assault." He barred his teeth, spitt dripping from his mouth like venom.

"To the Dyellian socialist forces, we hear and we are ceasing hostilities against Bath. We are moving north away from the Generals forces and will wait there for your forces."

What in the name of hell Thought Plank, he pulled his sidearm looking for someone to take out his frustrations on. Instead though he picked up the radio:

"Who is giving the order to surrender god damn it? Major, start your attack on the city now!"

"Im afraid we value our lives more than that General. You brought us here on a fools errand, at least with surrendering we have a hope of survival."

"God damn you Major! Attack, attack, attack!" Plank pounded the communications array as he screamed into the radio.

A minor officer ran up to Plank and saluted sharply: "Sir. The artillery has arrived along with your truck, shall I deploy?"

A smile crept over the generals face, "Yes deploy deploy, and engage the Major forces that are fleeing to the north they are traitors and must be stopped." Plank hopped down from the tank and ran off to where the new units had arrived. The officer had a quizical look on his face from the orders by Plank, fire on our own men? Oh well, your the General.

In a somewhat wet irrgation ditch a man in a kaki uniform looked across the distance at the arriving artillery train...

"Call HQ, tell them that the Jiggdians have received reinforcements...looks like some artillery units..."

*********
A captain was explaining the lastest intelligence reports. "Sir, it appears as if the enemy camp has broken into two parts...One appears to be moving north...and maybe ready to surrender."

The overall commander looked out across the tanks and said..."And the central portion under fire from us?"

"We recieved word about arriving artillery..."

"Well, let that Alconian battlegroup deal with them..."

"Ah is that wise, I mean...you know his reputation..."

***********
The JDF 'artillery' fire increased by about 20%. To the southeast of Plank's holding forces a large dust cloud could be seen rising as the southern most JDF battlegroup near bath swept in. A sudden blizkreig of some seventy vehicles, fifty of them Challenger II tanks. They were led by a man who had more in common with Custer than the average Alconian officer, but then he wasn't very sane either...

OOC: Jiggady have you got plans for Plank? He seems to be the perfect subject for an idea I had in hand.

(OOC) my apologies for being away for a few days. I got tied up with some other stuff, nothing really worthy of a proper excuse though...
Also I spoke to Fasta Benj a couple of weeks ago about him not logging on at all. He said if he isn't on within a week I can assume the Sea Battle over. Does anyone have a problem with this?

In Cyro
Morgan was led into a somewhat spartan looking office. Three men were there. One was seated behind a desk. He was a tall dark haired yet pale man with a close cropped moustache. He was wearing the dark blue Dyelli Beybian police uniform. The second was wearing a well cut suit. He lounged about in the corner smoking a cigarette. He offered one to Morgan, mouthing 'do you smoke?' as the third man began speaking.

The thind man was a gaunt man, sported a well trimmed greying goatee. He wore a thick olive coat with red bands across the double breast, despite the heat outside. In here though the air conditioning was working marvels and he did not break a sweat,

"You are probably wondering why you are here." he began, "To put it quite simply, we are planning to ship you back off to Jiggardy once the hostilities die down, however, rumour has reached the Cheka of certain executions, which of course we find quite disturbing. Unfortunately they are only rumours at the moment. Most of our agents have stopped reporting in since the war began..."

The man behind the desk nodded as the man in the green jacket continued, "We wish to know what the situation would be in Jiggardy, were we to send all you and the others back."

"It wouldn't look good for the revolution if we came of as encouraging the kind of practices that sparked the revolution in the first place." the man with the cigarette packet explained.

They all turned to Morgan waiting for his reply.

------------------------------

Bath
The Generals who were commanding the defences were now in their respective command vehicles. The vehicles looked very much like any of the many half-tracks Dyelli Beybi was now churning out at a great rate, bar the enormous array of radio antena protruding from the roof,

"What do you make of it?" one radioed another, "Do you think it's a trick?"

"Doubt it." another put in, "The odds are firmly in our favour."

"I concur with that. As Senior General in this engagement I will contact the enemy. We've got word from Cyro. Seems Laroque wanted to make sure we acted 'in the best traditions of the revolution'. As such I want all your men on their best behavior. Remind your men if anyone, that goes from the lowest Fusilier to the highest General acts in a manner which may, and I quote, 'endanger the legitimacy of the current Government' they will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law...and by that, for any of you who didn't get it, she is implying war crimes tribunals."

---------------------------------

A radio communication was returned by the Dyellian forces, "Due to the fact that it appears not all elements of the Jiggardian forces have entered negotiations, and to avoid any possible instances of mistaken identity, we suggest that the Jiggardians entering negotiations send us a list of what they wish included in the terms of surrender. We are willing to accomodate most reasonable terms."

A little past Alexigrad.

The railcars ground to a halt while the truck convoys slowed. Restocking and refueling hadn't been easy this far into Dyelli Beybi. The locals weren't keen on anyone - especially a menancing looking army flying foreign colors on their soil. Colonel Herk tried to smooth things over when resistance was encountered but he grew frustrated. After all, there was a war going on and the Klatch just might be invaded.

Preparations were undertaken to off load the tanks and anti-air equipment off the oversized railcars. Luckily, the rail guage between both nations was the same so that potential obstacle was thankfully avoided.

"Report Colonel," barked the general in Vrakian.
"Sir. We are offloading the equipment now. No action, friendlies or otherwise, present."
"Keep an eye out. Word has it that peace might be in the air so be ready for a withdrawal. Out."
"Understood."

Herk clicked off his comm gear irritably. All this way and suddenly nothing to do?

Morgan had never been trained in what to do when being interogated, yet he was sure that they didn't teach you to crack after the first question.

However, at the present moment Morgan figured being open and honest would be the best course of action to at least sustain his life. He graciously took the cigarette but started to chew on the end of it rather than light it up.

"Whatever you want you got, I can give you the last known whereabouts of all the units that crossed the boarder."

Most of our agents have stopped reporting in since the war began..." One of the men started the conversation.

Morgan thought this over but was unsure of how to reply. "Executions? Beats me, it could just be a regular cleansing of the prisons. Maybe it was McCloud.... Oh I'm sorry, He was heading up another brigade that was supposed to move on Cyro but we never got contact of him crossing the border. What type of executions are you talking about?"

He stopped and contemplated lighting the cigarette, he didnt smoke but under the circumstances it seemed like a good idea after hearing from smoker after smoker about the calming effects of cigarettes. Nervous sweat began to bead on his balding head and Morgan unconsiously began playing with his fingers and the small cancer stick. Twirling the fragile object between his fingers Morgan furiously thought about what the interrigators could mean, above all else he valued his life but going back to Jiggady would deffinetly put an end to that dream. A sharp breath escaped his mouth as the wraping on the cigarette split in half, and the brown tobacco spilled out onto his lap. Morgan looked about the room to the eyes of the other men who were studying his actions closly.

"No no no please, if we go back to Jiggady we will surely be executed for mutiny. If there is one thing the Chief of State likes is executions."

The green jacketed Communist nodded to the seated policeman, "In that case." the policeman said, "We are prepared to offer you political assylum in Dyelli Beybi. We are prepared to believe that you were working under a misguided philosophy, and with a good look at the alternative the Socialist Republic is offering, you will come around to our way of thinking." he paused briefly, then looked at his standing colleage "Over to you Commisaar"

The green jacketed man smiled slightly, "You asked earlier what kind of executions. Like we said things are sketchy. The Cheka havn't been pulling their weight lately," he gave a short barking laugh, "do you realise we have over 5,000 agents abroad and they can't even tell us about our Eastern neighbour? We have definantely heard reliable reports of a round-up of the families of Plank supporters, but that is about it."

The man with the cigarette packet tossed a Zippo lighter at Morgan, "You might want to light that." he observed dryly.

The green jacketed man gave him a severe look, "Where was I? Oh yes. Positions of troops in Dyelli Beybi? Well we theoretically have quite a few satelites up there but we've been having a damned nuisance of a job trying to get a picture from them, seems we accidentally shelled the building with the communications stuff in it, some general or other presumed the satelite dishes were radars."

He shook his head, aparently mystified at his own side's incompetence, "Now there are some of your lot attacking Bath at the moment, and we have your bunch here. Cyro seems to be pretty secure now. Are there any other surprises lurking out there?"

(OOC) Was there ever a response to the bit with the old whaler? I wasn't certain if those were meant to be my vessels, because if so this could all work into my latest devilish plan...
Also whats actually going on in Jiggardy that your average wally on the street who was paying attention (or typically inept Dyellian spy) might know about?

Cyro

"Thank you sirs, thank you very much." Morgan had to restrain himself from getting out of the seat, the news couldnt have been better for him. "You dont know what they would have done to us back in Jiggady, yes yes it was all Plank and his man Hackett.

"As for the units deployed well I can tell you that one apparently never crossed from Jiggady, two attacked Cyro and two were headed to Bath, a final one was heading north to skirt the boarders and enter Fasta Benj, but I havnt had communication with them for awhile."

Morgan was so caught up in the fact that they would take him in that their previous statements had gone right out of his head. That was until they came crashing back when his emotional joy subsided.

"My God! You said that they are rounding up the families of our men? What if the executions are them!? I wouldnt put that past anyone in the government to instill that mutiny will not be tolerated...Pop pop, aunt mini, mammy Franks ohh nooo." Morgan drops his head to the table and begins sobbing uncontrolably.

ooc: I completly forgot about that ship. I was brining back what was raised back in the thread about Pope Indolence comming to power, a portion of Jiggady's religeous population pleged allegiance to him causing conflict in Caira. I was just going to have them try to get into Dyelli in a misguided attempt at fighting their way to him.

In Jiggady they would probably know about the rounding up of family members of Planks men, it most likely would have been made public after they had rounded up the majority of them. The executions would be public, taking place mostly in Captial City but probably also in several of the other larger cities; they would also have been televised. Public sentiment would be of indiference to the killings or in the form of throwing tomatos at those to be killed.

For anything not pertaining to the war, I imagine that they could easily get certian information, the government has been more secretive than before during the war but social reform and standards of living have also been at their highest peaks during this time. Opinion on the war is generally of indifference, as long as Jiggady doesnt begin suffering economically or from direct engagement than the people typically wouldnt care. Rather than taking up to much space here I could always post something at the FKC boards if you want.

IC:

Bath

"We are complying with your orders, we would like to set up the negotiations however, we are having difficulties with the remainder of the Jiggady force apparently not pleased with our decision. They are pro Fasta Benj forces and we are engaging them." The Major replied to the dozens of reports comming in from Bath regarding their position.

"Sir, Plank has opened fire on our rear positions, we are loosing men fast and all our tanks are clogged up to the north." The scene was chaos at the temporary command station they had set up, men in headsets tried feverously to coorordinate attacks versus Planks forces. "The artillery has arrived and has begun opening fire on Bath, reports of fire from JDF forces from the south (am I correct AH)."

"Spread out and flank their positions, take out that artillery, to give the Dyellian forces a chance to push on Plank."

--------------

The arrival of the artillery had momentarially swayed momentum in their favour, despite the tremenoud odds against them. The Jiggady forces still loyal to Plank and the Tzar fought with a new determination despite enemies flanking them from three positions.

"God damn those whiny ass JDF forces, cant they tell this was to be my war of conquest!?" Plank furiously stomped his foot on the ground.

"General, our artillery is reporting successfull bombardment of Bath."

"NO NO NO, Redirect fire to the north and to the positions south, they pose more of the threat now. Move the tanks up along the road into Bath and hold position there, split the ground forces to cover the artillery and move against the JDF positions." Plank momentarially regained his composure after another outburst. It wasnt supposed to go like this. This was supposed to be my victory damn it, doesnt anyone understand that. I spat in the face of death to get here and I'll be damned if these people think they shall deny me this victory...Hmmm maybe if I could escape and offer my services to the Drakonians... Planks thoughts were broken up by the deafening sound of artillery falling on their position.

He imagined that the hellish sound would have been similar to the sound of one of their bunker bombs going off within several feet of where he now stood. Plank looked through his binoculars to the remainder of the forces under his command but his vision was obstructed by smoke dust and fire.

"GENERAL!! We are under heavy artillery fire, 45% percent casualty rate to our tanks. General what do we do?"

Plank didnt take the time to respond, the report was enough to tell him that it was time to get out with his life, and seek assylum with those who were the enemies of his former allies.

Cyro
The three men exchanged glances over Morgan's head, clearly they had very little idea how to deal with this kind of situation. IT was a few moments before any of them tried anything aproaching consoling, "Like Commisaar Diginski said." the man in the suite began in a low voice, "We are not really certain exactly who has and hasn't been arrested. I'm not trying to extend false hope, but anyone who manages to make it to the border will of course be granted refugee status."

In the background, another whispered conversation was going on between a soldier in a sand coloured uniform and the police officer. The soldier wore a red arm band with the National Socialist Worker's Party emblem on it, marking him out as an aide. "Would you excuse me please Gentlemen?" the police officer said as he stood up, "But it seems I am needed elsewhere."

He quickly departed, leaving Morgan alone with the Commisaar and the man in the suite.

Bath
The Dyellian Infantry had taken a battering, being poorly dug in, and in points where the bombardment was stronger, had broken and fled behind the comparative safety of the city's breastworks. Someone however had managed to keep a cool head and 80 or so of Dyelli Beybi's scout tanks had tentatively begun making probes at point's in Plank's defenses, relying on the long ranges and the high speed of the vehicles to keep them from taking heavy looses to enemy tank fire.
Meanwhile 400 T-90s had been pulled together and were slowly making their way toward's Plank's position. They made no attempt to engage, mostly because they were having difficulty telling which Jiggardian's were the enemy as the fog of war descended. They had heard the threats from HQ in Cyro, and nobody wanted to be the person responsible for a friendly fire incident. So they did nothing.
The Dyellian artillery was attempting counter battery fire. Waiting for the telltale signs of enemy artillery fire then respondsing by firing at that point. An Adolf Hitler rocked as a howitzer shell plowed into it's roof armour. While the high explosive chance had no chance of penetrating the thick mass of depleted uranium, the gun barrel was snapped clean off (a testament to poor Dyelli Beybian craftsmanship), rendering the artillery piece practically useless. It's crew decided to call it a day and headed for the gap in the breastwork that acted as a city gate.

Combined Glorious Humanity/Drakonian Fleets
South Klatchian Sea, International Waters
Battleship, IDS Imperator

With precision akin one overmind, the entire combined fleets turned away from the coastline of the continent of Klatch. Both the Glorious Humanity and Drakonian warfleets had been recalled home. Negotiations had stalled, but officials of both sides of the combined fleets had deemed it likely that negotiations would be successful.

There was speculation the sailors as to their quick return home, before the conclusion of the negotiation at Nekoa Bay. Rumors abounded that Admiral Ares Kraken was looking over maps of the waters around Arda. Yet, no one but the command staff knew for sure if whether or not the rumors were true.

It seemed war had been averted...at least in Klatch.
