Official Decoded Message: (only the British Decoded this Message, Germans did not!)
British Ministry of War, Official Report, British Dominion of South Africa, Concerning German Territory of German Southwest Africa. Dated October 19th 1914, British Standardized Calendar.
Due to recent activity of the German Navy in the area, the British Ministry of War has sent orders to the British Dominion of South Africa to survey and report if the German Territory of German Southwest Africa - Comprising of the area north of Portuguese Angola, west of British Rhodesia, and south of the Belgian Congo - Contained within this is the Official Report of the surveyors:
"German Southwest Africa posses possibly threat to British security in the area. If German soldiers were to strike, the British forces in the area would find it hard to sustain a suitable defense in their current condition. The German army would find it easy to overrun British Rhodesia, and possibly British South Africa. Portuguese Angola, and the Belgian Congo are also in danger of attack, and being overrun. If British Rhodesia and South Africa were overrun, the German Empire would undoubtedly have complete dominance over Southern Africa. Within weeks of South Africa's collapse, Kenya, and possibly Anglo-Egyptian Sudan would also be overrun. French Equatorial Africa is also in danger if the Belgian Congo is attacked. If the Germans attacked now, they would overrun almost all of Allied Africa before summer 1915. This puts British, French, American, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish colonies in grave danger. The British Ministry of War cannot ignore this problem, or the Germans could consume all of Africa. This is not an over exaggeration. Britain must act immediately, and build up in the area, planning for an attack on German Southwest Africa!"

"Hello my Ally and Friend! This is a non formal message to inform the Austro-Hungarian Government that the German Army is preparing an offensive Army in German Southwest Africa. This offensive force is meant to attack British dominions in the area, and strengthen German power in the region. The ultimate goal of this offensive is to capture Cape Town, British South Africa, and secure the Cape of Good Hope. This preparation has weakened the German lines in France slightly. Germany will not be able to support any Austro-Hungarian offensives in the Balkans or Russia due to this build up. It is hoped that once the Cape of Good Hope is secured for the Central Powers, the British Navy will no longer be able to Blockade the North Sea, and the Mediterranean, as it will have to try securing British Merchant routes through the Indian Ocean. This will then hopefully get more supplies to both our Governments. If Austria-Hungary has the ability to spare troops from your Russian and Balkan campaigns to help with the German offensive it will be much appreciated, although not necessary. It is also very hard to supply the area with reinforcements with the current Royal Navy blockade, and with the even tighter blockade on your Adriatic Sea ports, it would be even harder for you. British Intelligence as far as we know knows nothing about the planned attack. Attack will take place in early November."
I just sent 5 million zulu warriors and overtake the british navy and block the cape of good hope from those evil doers who want to take cape town (germany and Prusma) And if you havent heard of me i am SPARTEN and i am from South-Africa protecting my homland

From: Emperor Franz Josef

Greetings my friend! Indeed, we conpletely concur with this attack, as we are conducting a holding action in Russia, though we see no problems with their pathetic army (damn those Slavs, they have been our enemy for centuries!). We are preparing an invasion force for the Balkans and Serbia, we cannot let this attack on the heir-apparant go unprovoked. As for supplies, we regret we lack the means to pass through the Royal naval blockades in the Mediterranean and in Palestine, however we wish you luck in your endeavours. In France however, we are willng to send a contingent of troops to hold the line as the preparations are completed for an offensive in Austria, also in November. By a dual strike, the Triple Entente will be so confused and demoralized they will no doubt divide their forces uselessly to cover the great span of land.
We all know that Russia cannot attack during their accursed winter, so we wil concentrate our forces towards Sarajevo, and hopefully steal it from under their noses before they can effectively mobilize. With Serbia out of the way, we can perhaps start to consider preparations for a two front attack on Russia, though this is mere conjecture.
I wish you luck, good friend.

German Decoded Message:
British Ministry of War sending 19th Infantry Division from Australia, Infantry Corps from India, Canadian 9th Infantry Corps to unknown destination. Royal Navy in Indian Ocean on full alert, sailing to unknown destination, to blockade a German territory. Territory unknown.
Full Decoded Message (Only seen be British):
Dated 21st October 1914
The British Ministry of War sending the 19th Infantry Division from Australia, the 12th Infantry Corps from India, the 7th Artillery Corps from Egypt, the Canadian 9th Infantry Corps, and the RAF 3rd Air Division from Southern England to British South Africa. The Indian Ocean Royal Naval fleet, based in Singapore, is on full alert, and steaming towards the Cape of Good Hope to blockade German Southwest Africa from German resupply.
Estimated time of arrival:
RAF 3rd Air Division: 29th October
7th Artillery Corps: 31st October
12th Infantry Corps: 3rd November
Indian Ocean Royal Naval Fleet: 3rd November
19th Infantry Corps: 10th November
Canadian 9th Infantry Corps: 15th November
OOC: Note Crownguard (Austria-Hungary) that we can control the actions and some stuff other nations of the world, that have yet to be claimed as RP'd by someone. But only nations on our side, like Britain couldn't control the actions of the Ottoman Empire, but they could control France and Russia, until someone comes in to RP them.
"German Intelligence has decoded a British message..." Said Colonel Von Strasenhophen - A high ranking officer in German Strategic Command - to the Kaiser. "It's some mobilization. The British Indian Ocean Fleet has been put on full alert, and is planning on blockading a German Territory. The Territory is unknown, but we presume it might be German Southwest Africa. The British have also mobilized armies in India, Australia, and Canada, and are being moved to somewhere. We don't know their destination either. If this takes effect, and the target is German Southwest Africa, the planned attack will most likely fail Your Majesty."
"We must not jump to conclusions. Germany's Empire is a large one. The target could be anything! It could be German East Africa, New Guinea, the Caroline Islands! You forget the massive Far east territories we hold. Besides, German Southwest Africa has it's coast with the Atlantic Ocean, that's out of the British Indian Ocean Fleet's operation range." Argued the Kaiser.
"True, but the Atlantic and North Sea Royal Navy Fleets are busy blockading us. And if they know we're planning an attack in Southwest Africa, and a threat to the Cape of Good Hope, the Indian Ocean Royal Navy Fleet's range would be expanded to blockade it. The fifth primary port for the Indian Ocean fleet is Cape Town! Besides, we know the British do not have the ability to launch amphibious attacks against our Pacific Island Colonies!"
"Are you quite sure we know they do not have that ability? I suggest we continue monitoring British activity until we know the target."
"But your Majesty, if the target is German Southwest Africa, by the time we definitely know that is the target, it will be too late!"
"Fine, launch mock attacks from German East Africa, into Anglo-Egyptian Sudan... It will confuse the British as to our intentions... And if it doesn't confuse them, we may even capture a great deal of the Sudan... Now, about Russia?"
"Russia is not a threat yet. They still have only partially mobilized... Austria-Hungary proposed a joint attack next spring, before the Russian mobilize after their winter..."
"Hmm... And the Turks?"
"The Ottoman Empire is eager to attack British held Egypt, and the Russian Caucasus... But I fear they lack the ability to sustain a long term attack. They're willing to declare war on the Triple Entete at any time... I suggest we tell them the wait till next spring, then it can be a Triple attack against Russia. I am certain that if we capture Riga and Minsk, the Austrians capture Kiev, and the Turks capture Rostov and maybe Sebastopol, Russia will leave the war..."
"Well, that's talk for next spring..."
"Yes, but... The Turks are a little to anxious. I fear they may not be a strong member of the Central Powers if they side with us. They may actually become our 'Achilles' heal'."
"Hmm..."

IC:
Belgrade, Serbia, October 1914: The City has yet to fall to Austrian invasion, despite the fact that the Serb/Austrian boarder is drawn on the edge of the city. Standing Army wise, Serbia stood on a slightly uneven ground with the Austro-Hungarians. The Serbia-Montenegro could mobilize 355,000 Men, and had. The Austro-Hungarians, 485,000 Men Mobilized by October 1914. Key difference was that Austria-Hungary had to defend against Russian attacks, this left Serbia with an advantage. Despite this, the Serb army was badly equipped, and therefor put them behind, despite their otherwise advantage. The fact that the Capital of Serbia lay on the border with Austria-Hungary further stacked the cards against Serbia. If Austria tried an attack, it would easily capture Belgrade, destroying the organization of Serbia, if not knocking them out of the war entirely.
OOC: As soon as you decide to invade, I'll RP the resisting army...
*Emperor Franz Josef stands in front of cheering legions as he raises a hand, the crowd slowly dies down*
"As you all are aware, the nation of Serbia has committed a dreadful crime agaisnt the great people of Austria-Hungary. (he waits for the soudns to die down). Then, when we asked them for reparations in return, REASONABLE ones, they refused. Evidently, they felt they could kill...KILL a great man of our nation and walk away. No longer. Today marks the great day where the Austro-Hungarian Empire will formally absorb the nation of Serbia, and bring CULTURE to these barbarious people.
I trust you implicitly, I know you will not fail your country and your people. Go, go spread the light of civilization to these darkened lands, go and show Serbia that we do not tolerate assassins and crooks!
*he raises his hands admist the cheers, the soldiers salute and march for battle, their target: Belgrade, and the quick capitulation of Serbia.*

Official Statement from his right honorable Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Great British Empire, and all dominions of Britannia.
To his Majesty, the Emperor Franz Josef of Austria and Hungary
Sent via the Kingdom of Italy
"Your Majesty... Although I personally do not believe such a title befits such a hot headed man. Your blatant and careless actions have severed the ties of Europe, and thrown the continent into a war. And over what? A Serb, who shot the heir to your already crumbling throne. The Serbian Government, and you know this as well as I do, was not behind the attack. His Majesty, the King of Serbia, even warned your Archduke of the impending danger when the Serb government discovered the plot. Nevertheless, your careless son went to Bosnia, knowing the danger. It is your and your deceased son's careless actions which has caused this world wide war. Hopefully you will come to your senses, and not invade Serbia. Invading Serbia will only continue with this war. It is in my, and Parliament's opinion you alone hold the power to stop this war!
If you continue onwards down your path to destruction, and invade Serbia, I wish you luck sleeping at night, for I know I couldn't sleep at night if I had caused a World War!
Good Day, and may God have mercy on Europe!"
*Set via Switzerland*
To the Prime Minister of the British Empire,
Such an insult cannot be tolerated, Lord Minister. If the situation were reverse, and you lost an heir to the British throne in my own country, I daresay you would harbor thoughts of "injustice". It is fine for the British Empire to make such claims as to our own actions, when your suppreptious activities among the Boers and such in Africa bely your "civilized" nature. You speak of a world war, it does not have to be as such. Serbia is of no concern to your nation and of EVERY concern as to the assassination of the Archduke. The perpetrator was an affirmed revolutionary and nationalist, and evidently had the support of the government, otherwise he would not have been so successful. If Britian continues to stick its very large nose in others business, do not be suprised to find that others will be willing to snap at it. This will not be a "global war" unless the British Empire wishes it to be.

You and I know both my Distant Nephew was assassinated in the AUSTRIAN DEPENDENCY of Bosnia, which Serbia could not have influenced! The assassination was unfortunate, but it gives you no right to mock the British Empire. You have prooved that the Austrians are ungrateful warmongers. It was but not sixty years ago the Czar's put your destroyed and disgraced Great Grandfather back onto this little throne, along with your Hapsburg Dynasty! And you turn on your former ally, the Russian Empire, like a hungry Dog turns on an it's master. The Boers are non of your concern. So stay out of it!

OOC: LOL! True, true... You know, there's only really maybe five or six Royal Families, despite over thirty Monarchies in Europe in the 19th Century. Really, allof european royalty is related to the Windsor Family of England, because of Queen Victoria's... I think it was twelve daughters? And then most of European Royalty before that can trace itself back to the Savoy's (The royals houses of France and Italy), then before that, the Hapsburgs, then before that the... I think it was something like the "petitine's" or something.... I forget beyond that... Europe's just one big Inbreed mess when it comes to royalty!
OOC: Silly blue blood..when will they ever learn that you dont screw your cousins.... *sighs* Redneck nobility..I like that idea...
To the Emperor of Austria and Hungary, Franz Josef
"My Friend and Ally, German Intelligence has uncovered a British Telegram being sent to the Serbs warning them of your planned offensive against them. British Intelligence obviously has outwitted us on this. I encourage you to immediately attack Serbia, ready or not, to catch the Serbs off guard. They are expecting the attack in Five-Ten days! You must attack immediately to catch them by surprise! Ignore Britain, and it's ramblings about trying to stop this war! Britain's ranting only shows how cowardly the British Dogs are! Ignore our cousin the British King, he is but a puppet of his weak impotent country!
Germany plans to go ahead with the attack in German Southwest Africa on November 8th!
God Bless the Austro-Hungarian Army as they attack the lowly Serbs!
~His Imperial Majesty, the Kaiser of Germany!~
Can someone tell me who was the King of Portugal during WWI?
OOC: Portugal! Yay! Expecially since I'm planning that attack, which can attack portugese territories right there.
Oh um, Portugal had a revolution 1906-1910, which overthrew the monarchy. Portugal was a Republic during WWI.
*The Emperor recieves the note from Willy, smiling to himself*
"I am ahead of you friend..I wanted them to think I was attacking in November..when in fact the troops are already on their way. George ever was the twit...plans within plans....." *he says, turning to his advisor*
"The troops are on the outskirts of Belgrade, my Lord."
"Excellent, prepare the assault....we will use these new "machine guns", I feel it will be an excellent test to support our Steyr rifle, artillery and the mortar."
*He smiled inwardly, the Kaiser and himself shared a passion for the latest advances in military technology...how he loved those perfect formations of troops marching from Vienna.*
"Serbia will never stand to the might of the Austro-Hungarian Empire!"
"Of course my lord, it shall be done"
**On the Outskirts of Belgrade**
*Arz von Staussenberg, the High Commander of the Austro-Hungarian Landwehr and Honveds, looked at the imposing city on the map, and compared it to the actual sight. At his side was General Karl von Pflanzer-Baltin*
"It looks like a concentrated mortar and artillery strike will do wonders on this "old" city, Karl."
"Indeed, Arz...shall we commence with the 7th and 1st Armies?"
"Commence bombardment...when they come out to break the seige...let us use this new "machine gun"design..have the men in prepared trenches."
"Of course, it shall be done"
Shells from the big Artillery suddenly blew apart the old city streets and the small buildings that lined them. The shells rip through the old stone structures. Soon, no where is safe, and Austria tests it's new Heavy Artillery, a gift from Germany, which can fire shells up to Ten-Fifteen miles...
Meanwhile, in London...
"Sir!" A soldier yelled at the Minister of War Trent Lockheerd.
"Yes?" Trent looked puzzled, the man was from the telegram office by the looks of his uniform.
"Austrians began bombardment of Belgrade about an hour ago sir!"
"They WHAT!? They weren't supposed to start the attack for another Five days..."
"I know sir... The Austrians apparently began early..."
"Well, we can't even try to enforce Belgrade. It will fall before British soldiers even reach Greece... But the Austrians obviously want his war to continue... How long till we can attack German Southwest Africa?
"The force will be ready by November 8th..." Little did they know the German attack was scheduled for the same day.
"Good... This Austrian triumph will be shallow, when Germany loses it's largest and richest colony to Britain, all within the same two weeks!"
Several Hours Later.....
*Straussenberg surveyed the carnage the new heavy artillery had wrought and sighed, such a beautiful city gone to waste*
"It is a pity...Serbia is not an ugly nation by any means....."*
**He mumbled, looking back as he awaits the white flag of surrender. A few hours ago, he had sent a messenger, a fine and decorated Corporal to ask the city to capitulate and he was now growing weary. He did not want to have to continue this wasteful bombardment, when his troops had to quickly move to secure the rest of Serbia against the British from Greece and Palestine.**
"General Phlanzer-Baltin....Karl...take the Seventh Army out of reserve, 1st Army will take Belgrade. I want you to secure the the outskirts roads and counties, make SURE they do not get even a glimmer of hope of help arriving. Intercept any reinforcements."
"Of course..it shall be done" *he salutes, turning from the gaping holes and crumbled architecture with a heavy heart, sending the necessary relayed orders*
**Back in Vienna**
"My Emperor, Belgrade does not stand a chance agaisnt our new Heavy Artillery."
"Of course, minister......we had foreseen that. Make sure Baltin does not overextend himself from our supply lines. We need to move fast before Russia can mobilize, and the last thing we need is an isolated united in a foreign country."
"Yes, my Emperor..." *he bows and departs, sending the appropriate messages to the field commanders*
Official statement from the German Kaiser:
"I will personally present the first Austrian or Hungarian soldier to enter Belgrade's Royal Palace, with the Royal Hohenzollern House Order!"
http://www.gwpda.org/medals/germmedl/HHO-.JPG
The Royal Hohenzollern House Order
"That soldier will be sent to Berlin and spend several weeks here on leave, to have the Order presented to him! Good Luck my Allies!"
The Czar stood properly, viewing out a large Bay Window of the Winter Palace. He was in his office within the Palace. The window provided a wonderful view of Petrograd, and with the light snow the day before, the city looked as though sugar had been sprinkled upon it's Baroque style buildings. "Beautiful..." He whispered to himself.
"You Majesty..." His secretary said walking up behind him. "News has just arrived... The Austrians are bombarding Belgrade."
The Czar sipped his tea. "I see... And what about their boarder with us?" The Czar asked, not turning his view from the landscape of Petrograd.
"They have left it only with a Skeleton Defense... Reconnaissance reports that the Germans have also left their boarder with Poland relatively undefended..."
"I see... What do they think we are? A joke? My cousins think I am a joke? I don't see them commanding absolutist nations. They bow down to Ministries now. Weaklings..."
"Yes, your Majesty... I believe what they think, is that we wont mobilize enough before winter, and we would never attack during winter... That is at least what I think they believe."
"I see... Well, it would be suicide for them to attack us in the winter as well... But perhaps we will surprise my cousins... Willy and Franz..." The Czar snickered. "How many men exactly are on the defense of their Eastern Borders?"
"Around 110,000 from Austria-Hungary, and we're estimating 230,000 from Germany."
"And how many men has Russia mobilized against them?"
"As of last week... 780,000 against Austria-Hungary, and 920,000 against Germany..."
"I see..."
OOC: I'm getting this from real numbers of Russian Mobilization in late 1914... And this is Britain, decided to RP Russia as well, since no one had taken it, and it is such an important member of the war...
(I need Britain to respond to this, cant assume i took Belgrade withoout his input)
*OOC: As for the Russians..let them see if their 7-1 advantage is so great in the trenches near the Danube, fortified with artillery and machine gun emplacements..
The King of Serbia had been evacuated from Belgrade back in August, when the war broke out. But much of the government was still located within the city. As reports came in that the Austrians were surrounding the city, the Government tried a hasty retreat southeast, on the only route left open...
This failed, as the Austrians cut the retreat. Still, 22,000 Serbian soldiers were garrisoned within Belgrade. The city would not fall without a fight! Serbia was not going to walked over, if they were going down, they were going down fighting!
The order went out across the now ruined renaissance city, 'Fight to the Death!'
OOC: And one key advantage Russia had over Austria-Hungary, Russia had an air force. Second largest Air Force in the world actually, next to Germany. The Austrians had not iinvested into an Air Force, and didn'y start to build one until 1915. This was the one key advantage Russia had during the whole war. That, and MASSIVE numaricle supperiority...
OOC: All right..thats a given..but enjoy flying biplanes in the Russian winter....
OOC: Lol, Biplanes in the winter! Don't worry, I still have the largest air force Austria...

*General Straussenberg's letter to the city of Belgrade*
Greetings, citizens of the fine city of Belgrade. As you are aware, we have proceeded to bombard your city int he eventual hopes of taking it. Now, we are a civilized people, we wish to offer you the chance of surrender and the promise on my honor of being treated civilly and humanely, as Europeans should be. We ask that you dont throw away your lives needlessly in the support of a government in exile, and we hope we do not have to see the city taken street by bloody street. Please..for your sakes..surrender.
*The note is delivered by a corporal carrying the white flag of truce*
OOC: I found out the King of England during WWI was George V... >.<
IC:
Belgrade Citizenry immediately don't form an opinion, but the commander of the 22,000 troops within the city lets the word go out across the city:
"We were the ones attacked. We were attacked unjustly. Our Government did not deserve this, and neither did we. Surrender to those warmongers, and we are surrendering our livelyhood and our souls!"
*Emperor Franz Josef greets his cousin warmly, dressed in an ornate winter coat. They talk about trivial matters, trying to avoid war subjects till after dinner. He had scheduled a review of the troops specifically for this occassion, as well as a performance of a play in the famous Vienna Opera House. During this, Josef's mind drifts towards the Russian front, and how badly they neededto secure it. Would it be enough of the lines of trenches, wire, guns and artillery? Then his thoughts drifted towards the air force...*
"Cousin...I would dearly like to see the Flying Circus in action one time. Perhaps we can schedule a visit?"
*he says, somewhat in code for Germany to possibly prepare to send planes to combat the Russians*
"You believe our cousin Nicky will attack during the winter?" The Kaiser whispered into Franz's ear. "It would be suicide for Russia... Winter's already coming. Snowfall on Scandinavia last week, and it's only October 26th..."
"He has not been known for his sanity...consider the position of his serfs...." *whispers in return*
"Besides....I am almsot afraid to say they are used to the type of weather, i think we should be on guard."
(And with that..Im calling the night.....3 hrs of sleep to go. Night all)
"Heheh, you know very well Russia has not had slave labor or nearly eighty years. But it's not like there's much of a differnce between free labor and slave labor in that country." The Kaiser snickered.
"I know my cousin, and I know his army. It's in decline, and almost not combat worthy in the best conditions, let alone winter. I seriously doubt the Russians will attack... But to be sure, as soon as the African Campagne is over, I'll reinforce the border with Russia. We should capture Cape Town at the latest by November 20th. But in the meantime, I'll keep the 3rd Air Force on full alert, and divert the 5th over Hungary, to protect your borders." The Kaiser sat down in his seat in the Royal Booth of the Operah House. "Now, let us lsiten to this famous Operah you've been writing me so much about. And who knows, perhaps we can break the French line next spring, and capture Paris. Then this dreadful War will end."
The Operah started.
OOC: Ahem... The Seige of Belgrade has to continue, and stuff...

Well, lets just say you already have shelled Belgrade into near-submission... And you can take it easily as soon as you like. Also, lets say it's November 3rd now... Remember, you still have the rest of Serbia-Montenegro to conqure.
**After 2 days of intermittent shelling, at last the guns have stopped..it was about 3 am at night, and the darkness was all the deeper with the smoke. General Straussenberg turns to an orderly**
"Mobilize the units..we have recieved word that Baltin is already pushing for the coastlines, hopefully to cut off British relief. 7th Army will remain to take Belgrade..it should be a minor problem. We move to support Baltin in the west."
"Yes sir..."
**The army starts to pack away the artillery and weapons as the &th Army moves in to occupy Belgrade proper. The soliders hike on their packs as the advance scouts move in, the legions following behind them.**
