OOC: The Great War, an RP Region
Guten Tag, the nations of the Great British Empire and Germany and Prussia have formed a World War I region, for World War I Role Players. Currently, the region would like RPers for any nation that participated in World War I!
The Region's name is actually Europe Circa 1914.
We hope to see at least some World War I RPers, but we do realize there aren't a lot of them out there...
If you join the Region, you can join either the Central Powers, or the Triple Entete, or stay neutral... Although why would you want to do that?

I would probably be willing to play Austria-Hungary..seeing as how thats where my major ethniciy lies..as well as German..and Irish..all of whom hate the English 8) . J/k..but it makes sense.

Heh, well, populations wouldn't matter, you'd just have the resources of the country you RP during WWI, not the resources of your NS Nation.

France
Russian Empire
Ottoman Turkish Empire
Austro-Hungarian Empire
Kingdom of Italy
Kingdom of Belguim
Any British Colonies in the Commonwhealth (British Colonies would be under my rule, and you coundn't join the Central Powers)
Bulshevik Revolution
United States of America
Any German Colonies (Again, German Colonies would be under Germany and Prussia's control, and they couldn't join the Triple Entete)
Or any other nations that participated in the war, but we'd like those to be filled before smaller participants are...
And of course, you can choose your own Country's name, but make sure it is clear which nation you RP with that name...
And I demand just as much Flag Posting Glory as the Germans!

(The Commonwealth, my good man. The Commonwealth. I also imagine you're looking for the phrase "self-governing dominions', such as Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, rather than colonies.
I'd love to participate, as I find the entire period of history terribly romantic (in sort of a mustard gas and Spanish Influenza sort of way) but, alas, I've never been comfortable role playing 'as' a historic nation because I feel it limits possibilities. Also, my nation has passed out of its Great War era technologically, and I hardly think you'd want my 45,000 ton battleships or monowing fighters in this.
At any rate, this is really just a glorified tag, because I'm interested to see where this goes. Er, carry on!)

This was the flag used for the Empire until somewhere around the 1860-80s. Not that it matters, as this is 1914... Ahem... Moving on...

This flag was introduced as the "Joint Comprise" Flag. Notice the Austrian and Hungarian colors merdged... Well, it was introduced in the 1860s, and was adopted as the Austro-Hungarian Empire's flag sometime before 1900. It was still used in the Great War, but the "1913 Flag" was more commonly used.
Although I could not find an image of it, this is a description of the 1913 Flag:
The state ensign is a red white red horizontal tricolor with the state shield on the white stripe near the hoist, fimbrated yellow, with an imperial crown.
I shall work deligently to find Austria-Hungary's "Imperial Crown" and "State Shield"... Or maybe not, you are my Enemy...

However I could be wrong. Note this is Hungary's presant day "Coat of Arms" and it said that it was used as far back as the 1820s, so I'm only guessing...

If you want... You have all the Historicle Knowledge and material? Due note Russia lacked everything during the war... It was really the under dog of the war. It's economy was collapsed, it's military was un-orginized, it was unable to fully mobilize until 1915, over a year after war had been declared. And it had massive civil and military revolts in it's nation throughout the war.

Not yet.....
Army Size: 20 million Infantry... But only about 5 million were actually combat worthy...
Railroads: The Russians tried to link their major cities by Railroads, and succeeded, but since the war was useally away from Russian Major cities, this was quite useless. Russia had VERY bad mobilization.
Leader of the Country: Tsar Nicholus II commanded the Military during the War, and proclaimed himself a 5 star general. Tsarina Alexandra ruled the civil matters of the country.
Industrial: Although Moscow, Keiv, and Petrograd (Presant day St. Petersburg, and the then capital of Russia) were Industrialized, they only were 6% of the Russian Economy. Russia was massively reliant on it's Agriculture. Also, the oil rich Far East provence of Kamchatka, and the Casacus Mountains near Turkey were a great boost to Russian Economic Strength though. Overall though, Russia was the least Industrialized nation in the war, which further hurt it's ability to fight, as it's Arm Industry totaly collapsed by 1916, and half the army ran out of ammunitions.

Actually Russian Empire flag was a Green flag with the Royal Emblem on it.
No, common misconception really. That was the Russian Foreign Embassey Flag, a Green banner with the Tsar's crest. That's why so many people thought it was the Russian Flag, as it hung over the Russian Embassies.

Give each nation there Original Main Colors
Britain: Red
France: Blue
Russia: Green
Germany: Black
Austria-Hungry: White
Ottoman Empire: Yellow
And others come up with there own?
Good way for keeping an Eye on the war by updating the map with Each nations Color for where they are and the front lines.

I was just interested to hear how you plan on including the Bolshevik Revolution as it is not strictly speaking a state, more a intellectual collective of exiles. Would it be linked to Germany in some way as they funded the Bolsheviks in order to undermine the Tsar?
