An unnamed Klonor freighter silently went through space, with a small two-fighter escort.
The captain relaxed in his chair. Things were getting good. The new wars were coming in, the economy was bound to improve, and he actually liked the new laws General Salm had put in. Now he had a load of fuels and metals heading for Klonor, with a pretty good price, he had heard.
Suddenly he felt the ship slow to a halt.
"What is it?" he yelled irately.
"It's an asteroid, sir."
"Well, so? There are millions of those out here."
"Well, we're two hundred lightyears from the nearest system."

The asteroid looked pretty ordinary, about two miles long with a few craters.

"What's those coming from it?"
"If I didn't know better, sir, I'd say those were missiles."
"Missiles? No, you're right, that can't be."

The objects slowly moved toward the freighter.

"Do you think we're making contact, sir?"
"Maybe..."

Suddenly, the objects accelerated. They sped toward the fighter escorts.

"No..."

The fighters exploded.

*"This is the ITN Jolly Roger. Resistance is futile. Prepare to be boarded."*

A small craft appeared from the asteroid. It hurtled toward the freighter and attached to the airlock.

The battle was swift and bloodless.

"Sir, we found a cargo of volatiles and unprocessed metals. Should we load her up?"

"Make it so."

"You have been impressed into the Imperial Thunderstraat Navy. Raise your hands and repeat after me. 'I, a citizen of the Klonor Empire, hereby renounce all former claims to said empire and...'"

Another ship, another sector...
Another Klonor freighter carried material throughout the spaceways. This one was much better protected, with a ten-fighter escort.

"Sir, there's an asteroid here. In deep space."
"Cool! Let's take a closer look."

An explosion turned reality white for a few seconds.

"What was that?'
"I don't know, but the instruments are fried."
"Look, there's one screen still up."
The screen showed the energy signatures of the bomb; it was a massively powerful bomb, but it showed none of the characteristics of ordinary nukes.
"I've seen those before..."
"Yeah, those weird nukes Turanic stole from..."
"Yes, Thunderstraat."
"You think they'd risk attacking us?"
"Obviously..."

The marines on board the landing craft talked nervously among themselves.
"This will really tick Klonor off..."
"I heard that that was what the Emperor wanted to do."

This is Keebler,Emperor of Keebland.Why Klonor?

Because he just barely went imperial and started threatening everyone, that's why. And we need the resources.

From nearby the assault on a Klonor vessel, a cloaked Vzxlackian Scoutship observed. It monitored the weapons used and analyzed the battle tactics. Such information would come in handy for the Vzxlackian Empire later.....

You know, I haven't threatened anyone. I have attacked one nation and suddenly people act like I'm trying to take over the galaxy. Everybody is really overreacting. People are acting like it's the first time anybody has ever attacked someone.

Thunderstraat, my cargo shipments are never like that. All military shipments are by heavily armed freighters with at least Cruiser there for escort. Any attempt at piracy will result in a major battle, not just two fighters.

((OOC: Might be because of the nation you are attacking against, and because of the reason you have to attack against him, which happens to be NONEXISTENT, although there are several obvious things one would get from a war of conquest as I have stated before. You know, people here tend to be less tolerant than France and Britain were before the 2nd World War.))

((OOC: And the Ur-Quan are pretty much neutral, since they don't give a rat's ass about some aliens invading other aliens. They have more important things to worry about, anyway.))

The thing is, I haven't attacked CC yet! I haven't shot at any ships, I haven't sent any threatening messages, I haven't even vioalated his territory yet! For all you know, I haven't done a single thing, and I'm not planning to. There has been nothing to warrant any actions at all. Nothing has happened yet.

((OOC: Well, Thunderstraat is taking things to his own hands, CC is attacking Mindset, not you. But he would have a reason to attack you too. Why not take TWO suddenly expansionist nations out AT ONCE instead of that single one?-) ))

And Thunderstraat is not even attacking Klonor ships. I don't know who he's blwoing up, but it's not me

It's ooc. It's pretty damn obvious that I'm going to attack him. I think everybody knows that. It's just IC that they don't know.

But IC there is no campaign! There's nothing! I appreciate it (I really do), but there's no reason for you to be sending me ships

But IC there is no battle coming (to your knowledge). it'd be as if Britain just said "Here America, have these ships. No reason, just in case a war starts"
