System One has just started building its Lightspeed Construction/Test facility, we have succesfuly duplicated the hyperdrive of the Startide and are now going to construct a working model.
Ships will be constructed using nanotechnology. First a frame for the ship will be constructed, then the 'hull' will be sprayed in, starting from the inside.
Once the hull its finished more specalized nanites will be introduced, these will seek out specific locations and construct systems needing complex instructions, such as computers, weapons and drives.
The station itself will be modular, starting out as a simple frame, with a few nanospray nozzles, when it is finished (if ever) it will include a small city, and a spaceport.
Donations and assistance will be welcome.

Finished product
FIRST STAGE:
The first stage will only include the inner sphere, which will be used as a construction bay, this will later be converted to the colony/spaceport. This stage will take an estimated three years to finish
The sphere is about 1.5km long, and will hold all of the construction equipment and housing until the second stage.
SECOND STAGE:
The second stage will be the outer portion of the ring, it will include docking attachments and the large shipyards. This stage will take about a year, since no complicated construction is involved.
THIRD STAGE:
The rest of the ring, after this the hyperdrive testing facility will be added, and the small ship construction bays will be finished. The finished product will have a 4km radius, though most of this will be empty space.
The final stage will be the most complicated and will take an estimated 12 years.

The exit tunnel will be converted into an engine once stage two is finished.
Also, our first FTL ship will soon begin construction, it is rather small, but will be capable of inter-system travel, we would like to request a resupply stop at a friendly system, in case the hyperdrive breaks down and the ship is stranded.
