Coleman Island- The Republic of New Kingman tested a one megaton thermonuclear device last night. The test was considered a success and a step forward in the nation's military might. President Anthony Berlusconi stated that such weapons will only be used as an absolute final resort in a major conflict. He also stated that these weapons are of a defensive nature and hopes they never see use in any conflict.

Though we do not like these weapons we might as well send our congrats. And have 500 million bios (1 bio=10usd) to help your research on protection and safety of those WMDs.

You'll use them sooner than you think, I remember I pretty much tried to used them at every chance I had when I first developed nuclear weapons.
On a completely different note, in the development of nuclear weapons, you wouldn't just jump from no weapons to thermonukes. There's a linear pattern to development.
As the Demokratie begins to expand it's space program, the nuclear question has been put before me many times. And so we must confront ourselves-will the further proliferation of these great weapons truly lead to them being used in only a defensive manner? While chemical weapons have been around since the Great War and, in truth, any nation with a ballistic missile and a nerve gas could create a weapon of mass destruction, will we take it upon ourselves to prevent the actual use and sale of these weapons? I only hope we can decide that before it is too late.

I hope to never have to use them. But I am sure that it will come to that at some point.
Yes it will, probably to some godmodding n00bie
That is true, you will either be forced to use them or eventually to destroy them, or perhaps even be destroyed. Recognizing this, the Demokratie would like to propose a joint nuclear ICBM and satellite program with New Kingman.

Member of the Region North Alerica; "Deutschland Uber Alles"We gladly accept your proposal. Talks will begin soon in Montsegur, our capital city.

OOC: Noverweenies? Novembemites? Heh, this is amusing.
OOC- Yea make a new name for n00bs that actually fit them.
IC- I do believe you recieved that money and tech for keeping those nukes safe?
OOC: Montesgur..wasn't that mentioned in one of the earlier topics, CNN Camera Man Killed or something like that? It mentioned Montesgur as being occupied.

OOC: Montesgur..wasn't that mentioned in one of the earlier topics, CNN Camera Man Killed or something like that? It mentioned Montesgur as being occupied.No. Montsegur is where CNN is based in my country. The news story was being reported on from there. The war correspondents were in Kalinsky, in New Caucasia. Montsegur hasn't been a war zone in almost 100 years. The closest thing to war recently in the city was the assassination of the President in 1985.
Soviet SS-8 SASIN
As the first step in the joint New Kingman-Deustche Demokratie nuclear program, I would like to propose a nuclear Inter-continental ballistic missile based on the Soviet SS-8/R-9, which was depoloyed in 1961. it has a range of approximately 12,000-13,000 miles maximum and can carry a nuclear warhead with a maximum of 2.5 megatons.
As the Demokratie's nuclear facilituies are currently not capable of producing the warhead, we would be pleased to construct the rocket if New Kingman would construct the warhead.

Warheads are under construction as we speak. We are also beginning development of a missile able to carry a 10 megaton warhead.
By the by, here's the FAS (Federation of American Scientists) website for the R-9/SS-8. http://fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/slbm/r-27.htm
Also, if you want I can find an American or Russian nuke that matches ten megatons, and you can model it around that, or I can design a custom rocket and you can design a custom warhead.

We are also taking an interest in the LGM-118A Peacekeeper missile.
http://fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/icbm/lgm-118.htm
Each Peacekeeper contains 10 MIRV (Multiple Indpendent Re-entry Vehicles, aka warheads), so it is a good missile to look into. Each W87 warhead has a maximum yield of 475 kilotons, so with ten warheads that's a total yield of 4.75 megatons. The best part is since you have ten warheads, you can target different areas and spread the damage out.
Two R-9 Sasin rockets are wheeled off trucks in New Kingman, marking the first delivery of the Russian-designed ICBMs. The nuclear age between the two countries is one step closer to becoming a reality...

That we will reserve for larger warheads.
The R-9s have a n acceptable range and a relatively average yield, so if you ever need to do any clean-up work on a city there you are. :)
