Last week, all of Kalin rejoiced on the birthday of the king. The day is a regular national holiday, with military parades in most towns and much flag-waving. In harbours up and down the coast, warships' companies spliced the mainbrace. In the capital city, the king himself recieved a 21-gun salute and took the salute at a march-past of the guards.
