The Governor General of New Spartha_, Ricardo Fontes, was assasinated today as he was entering the Government Building at 7:00AM today. 3 shots were fired and they hit the Governor General in the head. He was immediately rushed to Ilha Verde Hospital, where he died 30 minutes later.

The Deputy Governor General, Luis Monteiro, was sworn in as the new Governor General by the President of The Commonwealth of Boa Vista, Antonio Carmona. He has ordered a state of mourning for 10 days. Meanwhile, Boa Vista and New Spartha_ has raised their military's readines condition to Condition 2 (ready for war status). Both the new Governor General and the Commonwealth President vows for revenge.

It's better to be prepared then to be trapped in a hotspot lacking proper support for your infantry. Look at American bases across Europe such as in Germany and Spain. Those nations are at peace but the US has relatively large amounts of troops amassed there.

OOC: Thats why you bring in firepower and troops, you dont unleash a bunch of tanks amongst a nation full of MODERN citizens. You need to keep in mind that they woudlnt like that very much. Terrorists in the other plane immediately surrendered after the plane was destroyed. The overnight bombardment of the towns of Praça Do Sul and Santa Maria has resulted in 1000 enemy soldiers and the destruction of 3 munitions depot that holds a total of 40% of their total munitions. New Sparthan Navy has intercepted 20 boats filled with enemy escapees. A total of 40 were caught and will be tried with the following charges:

Violation of people's constitutional rights

Two of those charges carries the maximum penalty of death.

In addition, the Governor General's office has received reliable reports that the enemy is planning to release a "dirty bomb" in the capital city of Boa Vista, Praia. As a result, all airports and seaports in the region of Ecora are closed to civilian traffics. Only military traffics are allowed.

In aid of New Spartha_, I, Chairman of Vervun and commander-in-cheif of the Commonwealth Guard, place the following forces at your disposal:

After investigating two terrorist suspects who tried to escape capture by Credonian military forces, the locations of the terrorist cells were discovered. A raid by Credonian Special Forces within the capital city of New Spartha took the lives of 15 terrorist suspects, and injured 5 more. 2 special operation soldiers were wounded, however, they will resume duties in the next couple days.

A second raid was conducted on an abandoned factory located 20 miles from Credonia’s Air and Naval base. 30 terrorists peacefully surrounded and sieged the building backed by F-117A stealth fighter aircraft close air support. All 30 terrorists are in Credonian custody and will be released to the New Spartha government in 2 NS days. During the raid, plans were discovered that uncovered a planned attack upon Credonian, Boa Vistian, and New Sparthian military forces. It was also discovered that a total of 500 more terrorists lurk within the country, divided into 10 terrorist cells, one of which was attacked by Credonian military forces. The leader of the terrorist group has been said to be hiding among one of the terrorist cells, most likely the one most heavily armed.

The third raid was conducted on an underground facility that was discovered during the second raid. Although only 2 terrorists were present at the time, plans and diagrams were found describing the construction of a terrorist airbase heavily camouflaged within a forest some 200 miles from the national capital. It is said that 15 or more AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters and 10 or more F-1 fighter jets backed by an unknown type and number of SAM weapons, both hand held and heavy military issue are present at this airfield. Interrogated terrorists say that it is about 65% complete, but the weapons are ready to use at a moments notice.

The Credonian government highly criticizes New Spartha for not knowing about the existence of these weapons in terrorist hands and for not knowing about the existence of this airfield. In addition, the Credonian government asks for the assistance of other nations with military forces in the area to execute a land, air, and naval assault on this airbase. The operation will be led by Credonian generals and will proceed on their orders. We ask the New Sparthian government for the permission to spearhead this military strike against the terrorist stronghold. At this time Credonian U-2S spy planes are taking off from mainland Credonia to collect the appropriate intelligence needed to carry out this attack. During our patrol of a northern city, in the industrial area, we have come under heavy fire from rebel forces. We returned fire, and the battle still continues. We have recieved air support from 1 AU Apache Helicopter, and we beleive the base of this cell is in Chemical Warehouse 045. We are expected to win the fire-fight in 030 minutes. We will then raid the warehouse, and see what we can find.

Late yesterday evening, we won the fire-fight with the rebel group. However most of them escaped, and only a few were captured. In the morning, we raided the compound they were in, and found a very interesting find I think everyone will be interested in. We found a reasonable quantity of a virus known as The Ebola Virus. There were 200 test tubes, but after reading some documentation, we fear there may be up to 800 test tubes of this virus still in the hands of the enemy. We have notified the AU government, and we including other Spec-op Units have been put on high alert. Currently all operations have been suspended until viral protection is delivered to us.

He turns to a general in the war room and says, “Order the B-52 strike. Get the other forces on the move. I want them to engage the targets shortly after the stratofortresses complete their bombing run. In the meantime, I’ll alert New Spartha_ and let them know of our progress and current status”

Suddenly, First Lady Echo Sutton walks into the room. President Sutton is shocked to see her there. He gets up and rushes over to her.

“Everything alright sweetheart?” he says.

“Well, im fine but I just thought you should know, the CIA (Credonia Intelligence Agency) found a couple terrorists not too long ago and have been keeping their capture secret from you. I think they are plotting to assassinate you and the government may be in on it.” she replies.

“What? How did you find this out? And what group are the terrorist associated with and why do they want to assassinate me?”

“I overheard a couple officials talking outside of our bedroom door. I guess they thought I was sleep since it was closed for a couple hours. Im not sure of the name of the terrorist group, but from what I heard, its one that is in New Spartha_. The terrorists have been plotting to assassinate you because they knew you would respond in the way you are now. They see you as a threat to their operation. The guys didn’t say all that much about by the CIA wanted you dead but I think its because they don’t like the way you make and enforce your foreign policies and because you don’t rely much on your intelligence, although its not like you need to. Its like you know whats going on all the time, and you find ways to put an end to it using peaceful means. They don’t like that.”

“Wow hun. Thanks for telling me” Sutton says with a hint of happiness in his voice.

As the B-52's streak in over New Spartha_, they prepare to release their bombs

"ETA...30 seconds sirs" says one of the B-52 Captains.

"Bombs away!!!" each captain shours as they drop thier laser guided munitions.l

As ground forces move in, they vividly hear and seem explosions coming from the airbase. They move in double time with close air support coming from 20 AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters. 5 F-15 Strike Eagles screamed in overhead to inspect the airbase and ensure there are no live targets. No sooner had they flown over the base,a single remaining SAM launcher locked onto the squad. Momentys later, SAMS's were airborne.

The F-15 squadron leader quickly recognises that the SAM's were an obsolete heat seaking version, so he shot off one of his missiles and flew over the explosion as it hit the ground. Two F-15's broke off from the group to engage the SAM launcher.

"I've got em in sight, aannnnnnnndd, FOX 1!!" a missile is fired and hits the launcher dead on, destroy it completely.

"Sirs, were going to begin our patrolling run. Ground forces are seconds away" says the F-15 squadron leader.

As they emerge from the forest, the Credonian troops notice no human movement. The field commander quickly calls in to Credonia War Headquarters in Credonia City to ask for a deployment of APC's and Humvees that will stay with the units that will remain on the base.

"RPG!!!!! GET DOWN!!!!!" a G.I. yells as he spots a terrorist launching a grenade.

"AHHHHHHHH" the terrorist yells as he is shot once in the chest.

"BAST-" he doesnt finish the word as he gets shot again and is killed.

Meanwhile back in the War Room of the Presidential Palace, President Sutton and his First Lady Echo Sutton sit together watching the action.

"Perfect" Sutton says almost inaudibly.

Secretary of Defence Mitchell Ferguson bursts into the room.

"Absolutly brilliant plan sir! I think we got most of them"

"Were not out of the woods yet General. The Apache's are gonig to use thier infrared camera's to detect any movements within the forest to ensure our boys arent ambushed. For now, the troops are taking up offensive positions and securing the airbase.

"roger that sir. Also, i granted the field commander's request for APC's and Humvees"

Also, C-130 Gunships and bombers loaded with MOAB and Daisy Cutter bombs are on standby, waiting to bomb terrorist targets. In addition, all nuclear silos are on Condition 4 (minimal preparation status) and will be launched if the we are locked in a fierce battle with the terrorists.

BELARUSSIAN HUMANTIARIAN FORCE TO BE DEPLOYED TO NEW SPARTHA

The National Assembly of the House of Representitives have approved an emergency motion tabled by President Boyd to send a Humanitarian Assistance Force to New Spatha to assist with the resulting Humanitarian Crisis should civil unrest following the assasination of there govenor general esculate.

The National Assembly condemed the assasination and said the people of Belarus share in their loss.

Under the law that I have approved yesterday, New Spartha's official name is now The Confederacy of New Spartha. My official title is now Executive State Minister. This is to symbolize the new age that has dawned on our people. Our inseperable links with Boa Vista still remains, but New Sparthans will now gain more autonomy over their own affairs.

Today, the Executive State Minister Luis Monteiro, along with Boa Vistan President Antonio Carmona, was swearing in the new parliament. Minister Monteiro had this to say about the current situation of New Spartha.

"My fellow citizens, the terrible events that have happened in these past few months will never be forgotten by this nation. Governor General Ricardo Fontes was a man with a vision, he had great expectations and plans for our country. His death was not in vain, as our military action has proved. A coalition of peace loving nations has come to our assistance. Minister Monteiro has laid out his goals for the coming session. He plans to join the IADF, form a cultural, economic, and defensive alliance with Belarussian States (along with Boa Vista), and increase homeland security to ensure that the tragedy with Governor General Fontes will not happen again.

Boa Vistan President Carmona, who has to approve the goals before they become official, has approved the goals and requested to start an alliance with the Belarussian States.
