Actually, it did and the geography is right aswell 1000AD william the conquerer hadnt even came to england and the irish were as independant as anyone else. Burgundy was its own kingdom and existed along side the french even untill the 100 years war were it aided the english

Question: what sort of weapons are my swedish mercenaries allotted? Xbows, swords, pikes?

Just a suggestion I really don't think we ahould have mercinaries because a person could just out of the blue say he has a massive army that will crush the world (don't need Godmods on this). I strongly disagree wtih this.

I'm fairly well aquainted with Medieval society and warfare, albeit not an expert on Byzantium. Pity you don't have some Sultan or other to try to invade your Eastern provinces. If you want someone I'll happily hop onboard.

The Byzantine Empire Appoints Dyelli Beybi as Lord of Trezibond, It is His Drop to Protect the eastern Quarter of the empire. We Grant the new lord the Province of Trezibond in the hope of appeasing him for his service.

The Holy Roman Empire is back in session and would like to extend alliance talks with the Polish empire if it doesn't intend to use its highly skilled assasins in the wrong way.

The Holy Roman Empire also asks Sethesh which area the Goths (Othogoths and visogoths) fall into: Poland, HRE, or elsewhere? If they do fall into the HRE, the Holy Roman Empire will send 90 of its 100 Swedish mercenaries packing, and replace them with Huskarls (nearly invulnerable to archers).

Another question to Sethesh: If I appoint a duke to a certain dukedom of HRE, do I lose any of my allotted 2000 troops?

Updates to my army - nothing major, unless Sethesh confirms that I get Huskarls...a few bumps and bruises from daily training, but my army is in fairly good shape. Except, one of my long swordsmen stubbed a toe. He's a rather clumsy fellow, and has been discharged with an injury (he actually broke his toe by running into a table!) and replaced by another long swordsman, although the replacement is new and has not undergone as much training.

The Holy Roman Empire would like to know if it is meant as the "Germans" in the message from the court of Brian Boru. It would also like to know if Brian Boru plans to attack other nations in order to set up its capital...if the Holy Roman Empire is referred to as the "Germans" in that letter, we will gladly accept a trade alliance.

We also propose trade alliances to the Polish, Byzantines, Franks, and Burgundians (the other countries mentioned in the letter) in the hopes that this will lead to a formal alliance between our countries.

From the frozen taiga to the northern reaches of the Gobi, whispers are heard of a man uniting the horselords under one standard, that of the nine yak tails. The raiding along the Onon has all but ceased, and all but a few of Mongolia's tribes pay homage to Chaigan Khan. The Keraits had fallen the previous winter, and the Jadarans had been quick to follow. Tribe after tribe had pledged their undying loyalty to their new Khan, until now, only the Kara Kitai remain.

Now, on a frozen fall morning in the valley of the upper Onon, the great Khan has mustered some one thousand of his tribesmen. Along a low ridge they sit, mounted and solemn as they await the coming foe. The ridge is low and rocky, with a thick stand of trees growing to either side of it.

Chaigan Khan, mounted on a fierce-eyed grey pony, canters out to challenge his men,"Horselords! Your time is now. The tribes are as one, and only the Kara Kitai remain defiant. Let us vanquish them, take their herds as our own, and proclaim to the world that we are no longer simple herdsmen in felt tents, but we are a mighty and united Mongolia!"

As his words die out, the first wave of enemy horse boils over a distant hill and breaks into a charge, screaming thier fury. Calmly the Khan raises his hand and close to one thousand bows are drawn. At his curt order they are loosed and a hail of savage death falls amid the charging Kara Kitai. Though some two hundred of them fall, the rest charge on, easily matching and outnumbering the men of Chaigan Khan.

One last deadly volley, and the Khan screams for the counter-charge. Curved sabers sweep from their sheaths and the air is filled with the thunder of hooves, blanketing the screams of dying men and horses.

The two masses meet with sickening impact, but the Kara Kitai waver slightly at the last moment, and the warriors of the Khan lance deep into the front ranks of the enemy. A fury comes over the men of the Khan as they cut ever deeper, their roars bestial. Soon they have breached the center and have almost punched through the entire mass of their foe.

A blowing warhorn draws many eyes to the thicket on the eastern side of the low ridge. From this thicket charges some three hundred light infantry, the dregs of the tribes, men who had lost thier priveledge to ride. As they slam into the enemy, the entire eastern flank collapses into chaos, and soon the west follows suit until none remain fighting, and the Khan is once more victorious.

With every clan behind him, and the yak tail standard blowing in the wind, Chaigan Khan looks to the south and east. There lies the vastness of China, Korea, and the riches of Japan.

Over the next few days the Khan sends out emissaries to the powers of the East. The Chinese Dynasty and the Koryos, to the herdsmen of Dzungaria and even to the Reindeer People of the far frozen north. The message is simple: Pay homage to the Khan of the Mongols, and you will be allowed to continue the rule of your nations and share in the glory of the Khan's subjects. Do it not, and the price would be more than any can pay.

Mongolia is now united, and should any of these choose to dispute his power, Chaigan Khan would crush them beneath the hooves of his Horde, and make what was theirs his own.

The Holy Roman Empire has sent envoys to several nations concerning the recent events in Asia.

To the Polish and Byzantines:

As you have heard, Chaigan Kahn has conquered various Mongolian tribes and eliminated the Kara Kitai holdouts. They have demonstrated brilliant military tactics and fierce determination, indicating a possible sweep through Europe...once they have finished with Asia. If they succeed in conquering Asia - or just China alone - they will be able to use a huge population surplus to their advantage and look to Europe.

This power we cannot defeat alone. But our combined armies may halt the Mongolian drive, with the Byzantine Cataphracts, the Polish cavalry, and the Teutonic infantry.

The Holy Roman Empire therefore proposes trade alliances with these two nations to prepare for such a strike.

To China, Japan, and Korea:

Now is not a time to dispute over territory or attack each other! A great threat to the North is bearing down on your countries...China first, then Korea, and then Japan. Any one of your countries allowing any other to fall to the Mongols is only increasing the threat to yourself! For now, at least temporarily...you must unite. Are you willing to submit yourselves to the Mongols by tributing to them, whose intentions we don't yet know?

Paying tribute to them only increases their power as well, and though it buys you safety for now, your future shall remain insecure...your countries are under direct threat of the Mongols.

To Mongolia:

What are your intentions, Chaigan Kahn? What is the reason for conquering these countries and taking what is rightfully theirs? Your actions are causing great alarm in Europe.

Actually, Kroz, I believe that if you are made a duke then you get 500 soldiers. This is, as far as I know, not taking soldiers from your lord's original 2000, but 500 extra soldiers to fend for the homeland if the main army is off conquering somewhere...

The Holy Roman Emperor William the Foolish is in search of someone to be placed as the Duke of Saxony. It has also decided that, on earlier counsel of Poland, that it should release its mercenaries (numbering 200). In their place will be 70 crossbowmen, 70 skirmishers, and 60 armored spearmen.

Deep in the mountains of southeast Korea near where Shilla used to be a man named Ottis Hester arrived. He had blonde hair and blue eyes , quite tall and strong , he was from Western German around the Frankfurt area to be exact.

Ottis had came to Korea a land he had only heard of for two reasons , the stories and paintings he had saw intrigued him. Also Ottis was a secret Pagan and sought to get far away from all the Inquisitors and stranglehold the Papal States had religiously on the European world. He knew he could practice his beliefs openly in the far east and took the long and dangerous journey to these lands.

The tall German quickly learned the culture and language of the Koreans , he despised the Koryo though and disagreed with many of their actions. He gained many followers and in a coup took Korea by storm and placed himself on the thrown as King.

Ottis began immediately , he would keep his Korean Kingdom with its strong traditions but soon Buddhism began to fall away in favor of Ottis's Pagan beliefs which was now the state religion. Art , military advancement and agriculture flourished and the country became even more strong.

A massive engineering force worked many a week to create a grand city that was to be the capital of the Korean Kingdom. In the center of the city a massive palace was constructed for Ottis , also around the city walls , gates and towers were constructed. It is thought that this new city of "Kongata" is one of the most massive and magnificent in the far east.

Burgundy is formed up as such:
Fortresses at Marseille and Lyon each are garrisoned with 200 Men-at-arms and 100 Crossbowmen. A further 100 Men-at-arms guard major roads into the Kingdom, while the 100 Hobilars patrol in squads of 10 making sure the kingdom is not infiltrated. The rest of the army is based on the Italian border.

With regards to the Russian request for a non-aggression pact with the Holy Roman Empire...

The Holy Roman Empire's troops are becoming restless and long for war. However, the Emperor deems it foolish to go to war for no reason. Therefore, he agrees to sign a non-aggression pact, at least temporarily - especially in light of the Mongolian intent to conquer all of Asia, it is unwise to stir up more turmoil among the other nations themselves.

In the meantime, the Holy Roman Empire turns its attention to a Duke of Saxony.

Storming into his quarters, Ailin almost smashed his table with a mailed fist, but stopped himself just in time to prevent the upset of a pitcher of ale that the servants had left for him. Taking a long pull from the pitcher, Ailin sat down heavily and began to think over the situation.

This morning everything had seemed fine. In fact, he was in very high spirits. Troops and supplies had been completely loaded into their boats, and he had discussed with his generals the best plan of action to take after landing on England. It was assumed that the whole of the island, Wales and Scotland included, would be part of their conquest. However, just before the ships were launched, a messenger arived from King Talaax.

Now, Ailin respected Talaax very much. After all, Talaax was his King! "But he sure made a bloody mess of things" mumbed Ailin into his ale. The message sent by Talaax had stated, in no uncertain terms, that due to the proposed alliance with Wales and Scotland that they were not to be fought. "...more like not to be butchered like the dogs they are..." slurred Ailin, becoming increasingly more inebriated.

Fortunatly, the troops had not yet been told exactly where they were going to be fighting. So, after spending six hours in the cramped Great Hall of his castle, their plans had been retooled to focus almost exclusivly on southern England. One of his generals, Sir Flannery, was even familiar with a perfect town to land at, with little defenses, having visited there during his time on a merchant ship in his youth.

Heartened by the ale, Ailin began to feel much better. Pearing out of his window, Ailin could see his ships disapearing over the horizon. Soon his forces would be victorious. Or they would be utterly destroyed. Either way, there was nothing for him to do now but wait...and drink.

I am searching for someone to take the post of Count of Toulouse. As Count of Toulouse, you could easily gain land and wealth by participating in actions done by the most powerful single allied unit in the game currently, the quintuple alliance (Burgundy, the Holy Roman Empire, Venice, Navarre and Poland, though I'm not sure about the last two).
