SOUTH PACIFIC [INTERNATIONAL NEWS NETWORK] -- The Federation of Kalrathia declared its independence and creation today, banding together over 40 small islands in the Pacific under one flag and one leader.
In a press conference held via satellite today, Vice-Regent of State Kyle Kaitan, speaking for Regent Dan-hua Tannon, declared the long-standing need for a technologically-minded government. "Past attempts to do so have been woefully inadequate. We of Kalrathia are certain that, given time, our national prowess will rise to the point where other nations shall look to us as a shining beacon of learning."
The government still faces organizational challenges as it shapes and molds itself in these first few days of liberty. Organizational Director Shan Wu has made compulsory the participation of citizens in the government's construction for a minimum period of 2 weeks. Workers will receive benefits and salaries commensurate with 90% of their current wages.
As of press time, no government officials could be reached due to an strictly enforced lockdown on communications and travel in the country.
